    I can't express his point about the ducks seeing you don't be afraid to put a roof on your blind even 1 extra roll of camo net goes a long way of making you look not human...every body thinks blinds are to make you look like a stump or brush pile but in reality it's to make you look less human

      We hunt part of a river that only a few ppl knew about, then about 6 yrs ago some thought it would be a great idea to guide some hunts make a few bucks. Now all those ppl and there friends figured out they don't need to pay that guide and the river became stacked. If you not there 2-3 hours before shooting light, have fun finding a spot.

  • @RetrieverTrainingAlone
    @RetrieverTrainingAlone Před 2 lety +1

    One mistake is setting the blind straight upwind of the decoys so the ducks coming in are looking straight towards the blind. By placing the blind crosswind to the decoys, the ducks are not looking straight at the blind as the ducks are coming in against the wind.
    Second mistake is watching ducks land on the "X" and hesitating moving to the "X"
    Third mistake shooting the easiest bird first instead of leaving that bird for the second kill after taking another bird.
    Fourth mistake not wearing hearing protection.
    Fifth mistake not shedding layers to minimize sweat walking in.

  • @fowltimeoutdoors4584
    @fowltimeoutdoors4584 Před 4 lety +8

    Great tips! Everyone that hunts public has probably had an issue with someone setting up too close. I can't tell you how many times I have been set up in a spot to have a group move on in right at shooting light or a little before. I'm always cordial to get the conversation started, but I can't tell you how many times I've heard, "It's public land. I can hunt where I want to". This can be avoided with some common sense and courtesy.

    • @BlackBeltWaterfowl

  • @matthewmeyer7399
    @matthewmeyer7399 Před rokem +1

    Awesome video. But sometimes like around from where I’m from you can’t get far enough away from someone to where you can’t see their lights. I’ve been at the marsh at 3 am first/second guy in the marsh all the way in. The back as far from that trucks as you can get and you can literally watch the guys and their lights get out of the truck and walk around the whole marsh to find a spot. It’s a sad reality from where I’m from but that last one is hard to do when you got small public land and a large population of hunters

    • @BlackBeltWaterfowl

Next week we set up in same spot…these guys walked in after us while we are shining them and sat 75 yards from us and sky blasted everything that flew by. We shot 3 that day between the 5 of us

  • @eduffy4937
    @eduffy4937 Před rokem

    Top mistakes new hunters make:
    *buying a 200dollar call when theyre a 2dollar caller. Place decoys and sit quietly. Most new hunters will do better not calling at all.
    *buying too much crap. All you need is waders, a cople dozen decoys, and camo of any kind that blends in thier environment
    *spending too much time hunting, not enough scouting. In a well oiled machine you should scout an hour per hour of hunting.

You should be respectful of others but everyones lives are different and some guy getting there an hour after shooting light might be his only option. Dont leave out people that dont have ideal circumstances. If i see someone coming in im probably gonna offer to have them join the party if we can.
