- Trooper's Report:
On September 7, 2022, at approximately 7:03 P.M., I was sitting in the right lane of travel on Interstate 55 just before the 1
southbound exit. Traffic was congested and stopped due to a prior incident on the Interstate 55 Bridge. I observed a red
Pontiac Grand Prix pass me on the right shoulder traveling approximately 50 miles per hour. I pulled to the right shoulder and
turned on my blue lights to initiate a traffic stop.
The red Pontiac pulled to the shoulder a short distance ahead and I advised dispatch of the traffic stop. I exited my patrol unit
and made contact with the driver at the driver’s door. I introduced myself and told the driver why I stopped him. I asked the
driver if he had a driver’s license and he said no. I immediately smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. I
asked the driver to step out of the car and speak with me at the rear of his vehicle. I noticed a female sitting in the passenger
seat and asked her if she had an ID and she said no she did not have an ID. The driver stated he was trying to take his friend to
the hospital because she wasn’t feeling well.
The driver exited the car and walked to the rear of his car as we talked about his friend being ill. The driver said he was trying
to get to the exit to turn around and go back to the hospital in West Memphis. I asked the driver if he had an ID and he said yes.
I asked him to get it for me and he handed me an Illinois ID card that identified him as ERIK WINFERT from Chicago Heights,
Illinois. I asked WINFERT if the car belonged to him and he said no it belonged to a friend. I told WINFERT his MIRANDA
RIGHTS and asked him if he understood his rights. WINFERT said yes he understood. I told him I could smell the odor of
marijuana coming from his person and the interior of the car. I asked WINFERT if he had anything illegal in the car and he said
no. I asked WINFERT if he had anything illegal on his person and he said no. I asked WINFERT to place his hands on the rear
of his car so I could check him for weapons. I told WINFERT I was going to search the car and for him to go stand in front of the
car, out of the way of traffic.
I went to the passenger door and asked the female passenger to exit the car. I asked her if she had anything illegal on her
person and she said no she did not. I told the female her MIRANDA RIGHTS and asked her if she understood her rights and
she said yes she understood. I asked her if there was anything illegal in the car and she said no. I asked her if she had
anything illegal in her purse that she brought out of the car and she said no. I told her I was going to search her purse and she
said to go right ahead. I asked the female to go stand in front of the car with WINFERT.
Trooper Garrett Byrd arrived and I told him about the stop. I asked Trooper Byrd to take WINFERT to his patrol car and
administer SFSTs to WINFERT who was visibly under the influence of something. He had red eyes, droopy eyelids, a light
green film on his tongue, and unsteady on his feet.
I began searching the car and the female passenger became very interested in what I was looking at. She began to walk back
to the rear of the car on the driver’s side and said there may be a gun in the car. I told her ok, and to go back to the front of the
car. She walked back to the front of the car and almost immediately turned around and began to walk back toward me. She
said there may be some other stuff in the car as she climbed in the driver’s door. I attempted to stop her as she put the car in
drive and began to flee. I let her go and returned to my patrol unit.
I advised dispatch I was in pursuit and we were approaching the bridge. The red Pontiac was traveling at speeds more than
100 miles per hour on the right shoulder. I saw her car come to an abrupt stop and advised dispatch she may have wrecked. As
I approached the red Pontiac I advised dispatch she wrecked and to send me an ambulance. The red Pontiac hit a box truck
and was cut in half. The female was lying with her legs in the front passenger area, and her head was on the ground where the
back seats would normally be.
After the female was taken by Crittenden EMS, I located an ID that identified her as Brittany Johns. I advised dispatch of her name and date of birth. An NCIC check showed JOHNS has an active warrant out of Illinois with full extradition. I continued to
search the car and located a .22 revolver in the rear passenger side floorboard. Photos were taken of the gun before it was
touched and collected.
WINFERT was transported to the Crittenden County Detention Center
and booked for traffic violations. I went to the Crittenden County Detention Center and added a FELON IN POSSESSION OF A
FIREARM charge on WINFERT.

Hey Hey Hey, Fat Albert here to save the day.
So did the hooker die?
I am at 11:56. I love this cop, he is stupid professional!
God bless you and your impathy sir, all respect fine example of good
I don’t feel bad for her. She deserves what any pain..what a dumb thing to do. Her poor boyfriend lost a car because of her stupid act.
Female: "Can I call my sister to come get the car?"
Trooper: "Can you what?"
Female: "Call my sister to get the car..."
Trooper: "Ma'am, your car is in two pieces...."
Female: "I wasn't driving."
Trooper: "You're the only one in the car."
Priceless. You just can't make this stuff up even if you tried.
😂😂😂😂 I died laughing at that part.
She most likely had a tbi and was in shock. I've dealt with a lot of people just after a bad accident, amd most of them are completely detached from reality.
@@Ruby_july To be fair the cop did say her "head was on the ground where the back seats used to be". I think I'll give her a pass on this one.

"People?" Someone is feeling awfully generous with the designators.
"I wasn't driving!" 🤣
That one got a good laugh from the trooper.
Tell that to bikers lol. Death dose not scare us
How the fuck was she still alive after that????? Thought they would find her in pieces….
“Ma’am, I found drugs in your trunk, you’re going to jail.” “Officer, it’s obviously not mine. My car doesn’t HAVE a trunk.”

Watching these videos, I have learned that most people who flee from the police have a grossly unfounded sense of confidence in their ability to drive.
Or to reason. LOL!
That’s the crack telling them they can escape the cops

As a truck driver, I feel more sorry for the guy driving the truck. The last thing the truck driver wanted when he woke up in the morning was to get into an accident.
And this is why I will not drive for a living anymore
Accident caused by someone else no less.
Calling it an accident implies no one is a fault. It's a collision or traffic incident.
I think the trucker saw her trying to pass on the right and he got in her way so she couldn't pass, happens all the time. Can't feel sorry for him at all.
@@portagepete1 Hey Einstein. Passing on the right is a traffic violation. Minimum $100 ticket for first infraction.

What a compassionate and empathetic officer!
That poor truck driver was probably on the phone fighting for his life trying to get his company to believe he wasn't at fault.
Cops cleared him of all charges, shows his company the report, company says it's a lie, gets fired next day

No exaggeration but I've seen somebody who was a driver become a supervisor and he became so stressed out from the managers that she developed like an air pocket or something in his head and he literally died from being overworked and stressed out

“She treated me like a king.”
Dude! She took off and left your ass on the side of the road! 🤦🏼♀️
Uhhhh……uhhhh……uhhhh…..uhhhh
So what? Would have been a lot worse if she did it with him in the car.
She left him with an officer, he didn’t have any paraphernalia on him. It was on her and in her car. So technically he wouldn’t be in trouble, even though “he looks like he’s on something”
She was trying to get rid of evidence.
That's how drug addicts think they're thinking is backwards.
It s a miracle it wasn't a mini van with a family.

Glad the original driver made it out safely, dude was cooperative and didn't get caught in the chase
He was. He didn’t have a license and was high but he didn’t deny anything when asked. He still got a gun charge for a gun in the back passenger area which was probably hers.
@@Kath-Kat That might be dismissed during the judgement, but since he was driving, is his responsabilty to know what he is transporting.

How much of a complete moron does one have to be to be high , driving with a gun and with no license on the shoulder of the highway !?😂😂😂
Imagine if he made that decision to just sit in the car or jump in with her. Would’ve been toast… thank god, bless him.
The irony of her causing a serious accident right next to that accident signage is not lost on me.
I saw that too! This whole deal is full of amazing, jaw dropping moments. Like her claiming she didn't see the cop, who was practically in her lap trying to get her to stop, her claiming she wasn't driving, them trying to keep her from running after they cut her out, her arguing her innocence, etc. All while her car is split in half and definitely looked like nobody could have survived!

@ashliarline5455, well I'd say the large majority are... What we need is more individual citizens who are compassionate, respect themselves and others including LE. The fact is "POLICING" wouldn't be necessary IF AVERAGE CITIZENS WOULD MAKE A CONSCIOUS DECISION TO DO WHAT'S RIGHT. How sad, both of these people are doing drugs, she has a scale, talked about doing coke & there's a weapon in the car and I just thought, how much "pain" do they want to cause themselves... Life is already problematic enough WITHOUT ADDING to your troubles through illicit substance abuse/sale, weapons crimes etc. And now she just made it worse where she could've died that day or worse than that she could've maimed or killed one or more innocent people she didn't even know all because she's RUNNING from a warrant. Talk about "compassion" or then lack thereof.
Save your compassion for people with morals. Darwin Awards for the rest.

Otherwise avoid it and try and keep yourself off the road even when you’re working on your car if it craps out mid road-trip and carry a high vis best for night time

Between the load brokers wanting you to haul the load for a barely above break even price and all of the foreign truckers running trucks with no electronics so that they can drive way over the permitted hours and people like this running into your rig, it is no surprise that there is a shortage of drivers in the US. While her initial action was clearly unlawful, her verbal responses immediately after a collision like that have zero bearing on anything. There's a very high chance she legitimately had no idea she was driving, or even in a car. Head impacts do that.

Isn’t it a law in the United States to help immediately when you see an accident? In Germany you can’t wait for the cops or ambulance. If you are there you must help. But it is also a law to learn basic first aid during driving school and throughout life. Just doing nothing and waiting for the cops just feels very wrong to me.
