- Super sad for the owners of this convenience store, At around 2:15 a.m. in October of 2023 someone approached this Variety Store and smashed the glass door, police said.
It’s alleged the individual entered and stole cigarettes and lottery tickets.
For unknown reasons the intruder then set an area near the cash register on fire before fleeing the scene.
Police say the business’ sprinkler system went off and was able to contain the fire.
No employees were in the store at the time of the break-in.
Damage to the property from the fire is estimated at around $50,000.

I used to work for Belfor Restorations. All consumables need to be written off due to the deadly toxins in smoke. Non porous things (shelving, certain electronics) "could" be salvageable depending on how much insurance a store has and process involved in removing soot. I did a 2 level Wal-Mart, where a fire was set in the bedding department. Due to the HVAC system spreading the smoke/soot, the whole store was written off except shelving and the registers. It took 2 weeks for 60 employees (30 per shift) working 12 hour shifts to "scrub" every inch of the store back to sanitary conditions. Sure it was gut wrenching throwing everything into dumpsters but better than someone dying from ingesting toxins. This store owner obviously didn't have proper insurance and they are a lawsuit waiting to happen if someone else breaks in and gets sick from eating anything or putting fingers in their mouth after touching any of the contaminated packaging.
I was wondering if it was a case of they were waiting for the insurance to come and document everything. If they take the steps to get started cleaning and throwing stuff out they will not get paid for the losses etc.
Things like the Zippo case being empty but all the other things left behind suggest to me the owners are still around and have done what they can. The C store i worked at the Zippo case was not owned by the store, we just got a cut of the sale, so i assume the supplier of those came in recovered their product but everything else is waiting for the insurance to get to it. Someone who breaks into a store and swipes that kind of thing is likely to also want the rolling papers and other drug paraphernalia.
I imagine Walmart etc would have someone there in a day, little out of the way C store is gonna take a while before someone is in the area.
Wow that's some great info, thanks so much for sharing that
@@RogueAOV Insurance companies will get a restoration company out as soon as it's safe to do so. With the Wal-Mart fire I mentioned we were in there about 6 hours after the fire chief signed off on the site (security footage showed what happened). Wal-Marts get their inventory checked 3-4 times a year so the insurance company relies on the paperwork instead of needed to count as items are tossed.
Same happened near me. Idiot lit something on fire in a Target store and they did exactly that. Had a restoration team out the day of, evaluate damages, etc.
I can't believe they're not allowed to start up business again. I mean, if you look at the place, it's not really damaged or anything. And I'd bet 95% of all that snacks and candy is still very much addible, which leads me to believe there might be more to this than just the fire. The fire was probably the straw that broke the camel's back. A Lot of businesses went under during covid. Very unfortunate.
Looks like something from Walking Dead
What a small world! I'm sitting here watching this and I'm getting this little tingly Deja Vu thing going on in the back of my mind and I'm like this looks familiar then threw a few subtle Clues I found in the video I realized I know exactly where this store is as I used to go here and buy my lottery tickets several years ago. Haven't been back since but that's a shame to see it has burned down, or at least partially. Kind of wondered whatever happened to the Chalet of the Swiss variety.
Same. I thought i remembered this place. Quick google detective work doubled up my theory
Lots of value still left there.
Wow! Unbelievable.. i dont like paper straws either
A variety shop for sure.
Interesting. Thanks for the explore Dave.
The Happy Valentine Glass Rose is a crack pipe.
Yes I quickly realized that
I can't believe it hasn't been cleared out
One of the bags of chips had an advertisement for the videogame "Starfield" which came out in September 2023. So this happened sometime in mid-late 2023

Cool place . Shame the food was wasted.
Thanks for the video sad all that stuff was wasted
Such a waste of merchandise. Hope the owner had good insurance.
I owned a variety back in 2000 and I'm surprised that Nestle didn't take their freezer chest out of there. They were very particular about those ice cream freezers. Also, that looks like the Lotto machine did catch on fire, so I'm sure the owner and the insurance company are going after OLG for the damage. That was a fun exploration. I'm sad for the owners though.
Criminal set fire to it. Theres news articles about it. If you know you know
Is there some Fruit Stripe gum left someone will make me a deal on?

Hi there Dave. Great video like always. I enjoy watching your videos. That place is a good spot for Squatters.who are on the run . Or living in a. Abandoned house somewhere in the woods.. they show up and then take what they can in their back pack. I wouldn't be surprised if they did. Lol. But anyway Great video thanks for sharing your adventures.
Its in the city. I think kids and older kids stole the smoking stuff
I just don't understand. Even were there smoke damage a lot of the packaged goods would have been unaffected. Maybe if by law he could not be sold I understand but to just leave it?
This is more like a Family Dollar Store.
