- Wir testen den neuen Ford Ranger und Isuzu D-Max gegen die beliebte Konkurrenz von Nissan und Volkswagen. Den ausführlichen Vergleich zum Making-of-Video gibt's in der OFF ROAD 4/2013, die ab dem 12. März im Zeitschriftenhandel ausliegt. Den Test und die Fotoproduktion haben wir im Offroad-Park Langenaltheim produziert. Leider war das Wetter und die Streckenverhältnisse zum Zeitpunkt der Videoaufnahmen deutlich schlechter als das am Vortag bei den Tests der Fall war -- das kann man am Kontrast der Wetterbedingungen Video/Fotos gut sehen. Jetzt wünschen wir euch aber viel Spaß beim Reinziehen!

At 1:05 the Amarok was the only truck that got stopped at that point in the hill, and made it over without backing up and making another run. Excellent!
Awesome how the amarok can stop and start again in the middle of de climb. Amazing!
I have to say I've test driven all these 4x4s and I opted for the 3.2 Ranger . It pulls like a train even when loaded to its legal limit . I regularly tow a 2 ton concrete pump with a ton of cement in the load bay . 25,000 kms done in 6 months and no issues

Ford ranger is the most beautifull one, not even the most expensive and it even seems more composed to the terrain then the others..the navara even seems low on groundclearance?! wow..didn't expect that ...
Navara looks lower on ground clearance but actually isn't. I thought the same, but you can measure it. The Navara is fantastic inside. Ahead of everything else. The Isuzu tries to be flashy, but it's not a great interior. The Fords are fantastic, but why (where I live) are there so many 2nd hand with low mileage on sale? I reckon there must be problems with the new Ford engines. Not good for Mazda either.

Hard to say sometimes. You could be right. But I was impressed that the Amarok stopped, and still managed to make it up the hill.

Some of those trucks really could have used some front and rear lockers when trying to climb that trail in the beginning. Ford does not sell the Ranger here in the U.S. anymore. I owned a couple of Rangers and I never had the first problem with them. The same was true of my full-size Ford pickups.

It had been much easier for the nissan and amarok if they had put in the 4 low that looks the rear diff aswell :P

True. But I think the Ford was driven a little more aggressively, which is why it made it over? So it's hard to compare it to the other trucks that actually stopped on the side of the hill. Of the other 3 trucks, only the Amarok stopped and managed to make it over the hill.
I don't know, but weight would be an advantage in this situation, if true.

That's bulsheet test! Driving patterns were different from car to car, camera angles were different, approaching speeds were different, gears were different... this test proves nothing, except that you can make it with a bit of speed.

The Ford Ranger is without doubt the best 4x4 dual cab truck in the world today ! It's not surprising it won the 'World 4x4 Dual-Cab Utility' award for 2012, and the judges said it made the opposition look second rate ! It is better than the other trucks in every single quantifiable area. Well done Ford Australia for enginnering a great Truck!!

the Nissan navara is the most powerful and fastest pickup between them
I actually the ford with the 3.2 litre 5 cylinder has more HP and torque
+Peter I The Nissan navara v6 3.0l is more powerful. In south African we have those cars
and top gear SA say that the Nissan navara is the most powerful bakkie (pickup)

The Ranger is the best one here,Amarok is good but has 2ltr bi turbo,it overworks and you can hear that,to me thats a timebomb for a diesel! maybe VW will get serious and put a 2.5ltr in the Amarok more suited

The Ford did well, but I'd like to see it stop completely on the hill, and start moving again, like the Amarok did. (And I don't think this is necessarily the final word on pick-up 4x4 capabilities.)

you didn't see right, ford went up the best, the second blue truck is isuzu(the one that needed a run up), not ford, ford actually went up quicker than vw amarok or any other three. amarok seemed 2nd best though.

I believe the Ford and the VW are wearing All-terrain tires whereas the Isuzu and Nissan are wearing HT tires.
2 litre engine, on a pick-up? That's stupid! Why not a 1.4 TSI or a 1.2 TSI, VW?

Na ob der Amarok hier auch wieder gewinnt wie bei Autobild oder ADAC werde mir die Zeitschrift heut mal kaufen als ein Ranger Fahrer
As you can see on the video, other trucks simply can't make it without momentum bec they only use limited slip differential on their 4x4 system, notice the wheel that has no traction it keeps on spinning and those with tractions does not, the ford is not only equipped with LSD but it has rear diff lock which is a plus on real off roading
I wish they would bring the Amarok to the U.S.

jldude84 yeah me too. VW cars are really nice.
They are all 4x4, the winner by far was the Amarok who was the only one to get up first time at half speed whereas the rest needed a lot more speed, watch the ford from the start making it up once with a lot more speed.
the amarok even has a high range transmission!

Guten tag, auto enthusiasts. These tests is a fail because all the trucks don't have off-road tires. You need this type of tire to go 4x4 in the woods especially in Germany. Lol

I had an Amarok in Africa. The first one lasted 4 weeks, then the transmission died on me. Too hot, too dirty for a VW.
Got a new Amarok. What can I say. It died on me after 7 weeks. Engine failure. Apparently the fuel does not have the quality needed for a VW.
It might be a great car to look cool in the city, but the reason you don't see them in South-East Asia or Africa is because they don't last. Get a Toyota or an Isuzu and be happy for many years, without worrying if its too hot or too dirty for the car.
