      A lot of things that happen with horses are totally our fault (or some other human) if you have all the history to investigate. Sometimes it is years before we realize why or how it was our own fault.

      Once a horse spooked near entrance of this field for riding and we ended up on asphalt skidding down the street. The Barn Owner asked me where and confirmed that this filly dumped her previous owner and ran through the barbed wire in the same place. Obviously, had I known I would not ask her to do more than walk over there. I might have even dismounted and let her inspect the item that hurt her before.
      That same filly dumped me inside the same field. I know now I was trying to lean on turns all those years ago and I probably threw her off balance. She was not quite 4yet and did not have the topline yet.

Very nice & very clever of you to think of his back when you landed 👍🏻 Maybe stay at one bar until that's perfectly smooth before going on to two bars? Your beautiful horse's back will thank you & maybe he'll stop snaking at the landing!? Keep going with bareback, it makes for great balance.

I jump bareback all the time and it's almost easier than jumping in the saddle because then you have the closest contact with your horse that you're gonna get and can ride them to the jump better collected and balanced. Great job! And your horse is gorgeous ❤️🐎

    Happy birthday to ur friend robin. Was great to see u ride bareback. When i was a fearless teen id be in a head Coller and lead rope riding bareback popping over some xcountry fences. We used to do a lot of bareback riding to make us stronger and also be at one with the horse. Practice makes perfect start slow till u are working as a team and u own ur self on ur horse. For sure its hard making sure ur not heavy or bumping hard on the horses back. I found starting off on a lung line in a saddle no styrups is the starting block then go down to no sadle, u can buy special Numnah for Bareback riding. Ur horse he is full of mischeif. If u have a fresh horse id make sure u school them a bit before u go bareback, that's my experience, and hats off to u jumping up onto ur horse unaided. Love the video

    my biggest tip to you would be to learn the basics and fundamentals of dressage. It was really frustrating at first to backtrack and spend so long on a discipline I personally wasn't very into however it taught me how to fully use my seat when riding which in turn stopped me coming off balance, therefore, making falls a lot less common. It also just made me 10 times more confident and just look better too.

  • @RideJumpShow
    @RideJumpShow Před 3 lety

    I love riding bareback. Most horses seem to like it but I have met the odd one who hates it. Your horse has a big uphill canter which does make it a bit harder to stay balanced and move with it but you did good. Riding bareback will really help you develop a more independent seat and improve your balance. Also a great workout for the legs. Find a good rhythm in canter and keep it, move your hips more so you don't bounce on his back as much. Do not clamp your knees into him, horses hate that. I know it feels like you will fall off at times but trust your balance. Gentle contact with your whole leg will help keep you balanced and on. Keep at it and have fun!

    Christopher Bartle talks about how he "plays" with his horses, and allows people to pet them. It's good for the horses and he is a very approachable and fun guy. His horses are not quite the divas some high end competition horses are.

    at the start where u show when u fell off some advice for you would be to not put all of your feet in the stirrup you only out them in to just past the toes so you can keep your heels down and toes up it would help alot with jumping too
