A lot of things that happen with horses are totally our fault (or some other human) if you have all the history to investigate. Sometimes it is years before we realize why or how it was our own fault.
Once a horse spooked near entrance of this field for riding and we ended up on asphalt skidding down the street. The Barn Owner asked me where and confirmed that this filly dumped her previous owner and ran through the barbed wire in the same place. Obviously, had I known I would not ask her to do more than walk over there. I might have even dismounted and let her inspect the item that hurt her before. That same filly dumped me inside the same field. I know now I was trying to lean on turns all those years ago and I probably threw her off balance. She was not quite 4yet and did not have the topline yet.
12:42 I like how he doesn’t blame the horse for reacting from his position in the saddle. He recognizes his mistake instead of punishing the horse for reacting naturally. Beautiful work, you inspire me!
It's nice and interesting to see how a professional rider works with this little problem like bocking or a hlat after a jump. I normally can't see this because everyone makes everything look so easy on social media. So its nice to see you problem solving while riding 😊
In most non english speaking countries, Gallop and canter is the same word. In danish its like that, but if we mean were going for a Gallop in the fields, were going for a jorde tur, which means a dirt tour, derived from all the dirt that could end in ones face if youre behind another horse.
i love how the horse always stops immediately after he throws the rider off, he's not acting up or anything, he's just gently getting rid of something that wasn't making him feel good!!
Thank you for admitting that even the small jump is sometimes scary, and for not editing out what goes wrong. It is so good for the perpetual amateurs (such as myself) to know that even the lovely riders, who appear so much braver than us, battle the same feelings.
Your horse was SO happy going into the arena with no saddle, ears forward & ready to go. Practicing posting bareback really helps get your legs conditioned for jumping no saddles. Very nice & very clever of you to think of his back when you landed 👍🏻 Maybe stay at one bar until that's perfectly smooth before going on to two bars? Your beautiful horse's back will thank you & maybe he'll stop snaking at the landing!? Keep going with bareback, it makes for great balance.
@@0316asdfjkl - so true! An instructor once told us to trot & post, no stirrups. That was a normal part of our lessons. Happy birthday! I love your positive attitude about everything during the entire ride! Riding and jumping bareback takes a lot of practice but it's worth it in the end. I jump bareback all the time and it's almost easier than jumping in the saddle because then you have the closest contact with your horse that you're gonna get and can ride them to the jump better collected and balanced. Happy birthday to ur friend robin. Was great to see u ride bareback. When i was a fearless teen id be in a head Coller and lead rope riding bareback popping over some xcountry fences. We used to do a lot of bareback riding to make us stronger and also be at one with the horse. Practice makes perfect start slow till u are working as a team and u own ur self on ur horse. my biggest tip to you would be to learn the basics and fundamentals of dressage. It was really frustrating at first to backtrack and spend so long on a discipline I personally wasn't very into however it taught me how to fully use my seat when riding which in turn stopped me coming off balance, therefore, making falls a lot less common. It also just made me 10 times more confident and just look better too.

Regular bareback riding improves balance, strengthens your leg muscles (as you found out) and leads to a more independent seat which your horse will thank you for. I always enjoy watching your vlogs - keep going 👍👍
I love riding bareback. Most horses seem to like it but I have met the odd one who hates it. Your horse has a big uphill canter which does make it a bit harder to stay balanced and move with it but you did good. Riding bareback will really help you develop a more independent seat and improve your balance. Also a great workout for the legs. Find a good rhythm in canter and keep it, move your hips more so you don't bounce on his back as much. Do not clamp your knees into him, horses hate that. I know it feels like you will fall off at times but trust your balance. Gentle contact with your whole leg will help keep you balanced and on. Keep at it and have fun!
I think it’s good for horses to be exposed to different things and for people to just have fun on them from time to time… even if they screw up a little bit. Your horse is lovely but he does have a few little tricks up his sleeve doesn’t he? Fun video to watch thanks for posting.

I've trained and taken care of hirses, but never owned. I don't like English saddles, but i tolerate western one's. If given the chance id go bareback though with a simple roap halter. Ugh, been AGES since my last ride. Oh, how I ache to be back in the saddle.
