Now time to make a 5 signs you're actually an ISFP video.

  • @hippiechick3625

Recently discovered that I'm an ISFP, I first typed as an INTP and had always considered myself to be an intuitive thinker, but we all think we are better at our lower functions than we are. Planning and organizing have always been my weak spot and I need a sense of urgency to get into get stuff done mode. I also recently jumped into the socionics descriptions and realized that ISFP fits me 100%. I thought for a long time that I was ISTJ or ISTP. But I discovered there are traits with these 2 that didn't fit either. ISFP's in the MBTI community stereotype ISFP's as weak and crying all the time. And that's not true, though if something really moves me in an emotional way that I can relate to, I can easily shed tears about it, but I don't like to cry in the presence of others so I wait and feel my feelings later.

Someone can also cry a lot if they are in stress or having hormonal issues.

Funny I'm INFP and my type is often stereotyped as head in the clouds and melancholic. I think there are "some" truths to stereotypes but as is the case often, they are exaggerated by others. For instance my brother is ISFP, and he's one of the strongest people I know. Have I seen him cry? Of course I have and him me, but we aren't overtly emotional or have no control, quite the contrary. BTW nothing wrong with crying, it likes a pipe that releases some pressure, good if done in moderation, bad if it always releases (losses all pressure).

OMG!! I am an ISFP? wow. And I thought I were INFJ for a year, INTJ for 3 months, ENTP for 2 months and INTP for 2 months! Maybe now I can stay with ISFP for the rest of my life! Thank you CPT! I am sure happy now! 🥰
And sorry for not watching the video before commenting but yes I do have idols and fictional characters I think about when making decisions!
This was very informative yeah! The longer videos can be watched but atleast I lose my patience and concentration losing your point in the longer videos. Shorter ones are easier to concentrate on 🤓

After watching this video, I'm 100% sure I'm a ISFP. I'm an actress and I truly love it. I love play pretend and acting as I'm someone else, ever since I was a child. I'm also a writer and I picture my characters as archetypes, pieces/shades of myself and my own mind. And sometimes I go for them seeking advice because I see them as a product of my own consciousness/unconsciousness. Just like having my own tarot. Watching this whole video was like wtf??? How can someone describe me that much? Hahahahah. Also the Te part you talked about not doing things properly without inspiration... fr.
Also, I'm learning recently to do an "excavation of an underlying self" thanks to therapy, because my whole life I was aiming into transformating/becoming a new version of me. I still prefer to do that way, honestly, but I'm giving my therapist a chance. He describes this process of "seeing beyond ego aspirations to find my true self". I must confess that I'm having a hard time and this made me question if I were indeed a Fi dom. But your video made it clear why im struggling and that yes, I'm an ISFP. Thank you so much!
Edit: The bonus one hit me right in the stomach. Ouch

It is VERY easy to mistype. A lot of people are roaming around with labels that aren't for them. Maybe this comment could help someone...
I (an ISFP) often mis-typed as an ENFP when I was younger.
(Culprit = The 16personalities test. That thing can be highly inaccurate and only shows how you perceive yourself or who like to believe you are. Also, if you take it when you hate yourself, or are trying to change something about you, or are struggling with a mental health issue- it will most probably be inaccurate. For me, it was struggle for acceptance and people pleasing that ruined the test.)
    The ISFP-ENFP mistype....
No one really talks about this possibility... Maybe because it takes two- misunderstanding yourself as an Intuitive* AND an Extrovert.*
Now that I look back at it-
    • It was probably because I was a teen and wanted to be different and quirky lol, and was sometimes attracted to unusual stuff, which I took on as my identity. I was pretty obsessed with having a strong sense of independence and self. Turns out it was just Fi.)
    • I thought I was extroverted... BUT only with my close friends lol.
(Later realised how shy I am when meeting strangers that I literally stutter and my brain goes blank, and I don't go to parties when someone I know isn't coming with me. And extroverts were thought to be cooler.)
    • Thought my love for writing stems from Ne when it was actually Se.
(Later realised my love for sensual experiences like late night walks with headphones on, my giant perfume and scented candle collection, long showers, obsession with soft asthetics and random little concerts cannot be neglected.)
    • Thought I was intuitive because I took deep dives into abstract stuff (It was because of Ni, not Ne. Later realised that having to exploring too many tangents and possibilities instead of just the one in front of me, makes my head hurt. And I use Fi* first anyway because when I write, it's only when I've felt something first.)
Also, I met an actual ENFP or ESFP for the first time... And their energy sucked the life out of me. My calm personal space was VISIBLY hurt because I wasn't setting up healthy boundries with her. She was just... So loud and always up to something. It drained me. So I do like ENFPs, but from a distance... And certainly am NOT one :)

That seems pretty true personalities test just shows how people presive them self. When I was beginning with mbti I typed myself by whatching videos that compared different types. I just looked videos that compared types that had one letter difference and when I for exaple looked a video about istp vs intp and when i thought intp fits better I was sure im intuetive. So i just whatched four videos they also wasn't that good and then just thought im an Intp.
Than I watched a lot of videos about intp. Then I took the 16 personalities test while i was really biast im an intp. And the result was intp, becauese i learnd a lot about intp and answerd the questens thinking im an intp.
Later I often ended up trying to behave like the type i typed my self.

This is incredibly personal and true on a level you just can’t find well… _most_ anywhere about the ISFP type. I actually have an older brother (ENTP) who often marvels at how similar we are. In some ways we are very similar, but at large we’re opposites. I’ve never seen the comparison between ISFPs and their Ti-Si counterparts, but it’s definitely true that I’ve struggled to swallow that I’m Se over Si and a Fi>Ti in the past.

ISFP is my absolute favorite type: They are some of the the best in giving Se sensory pleasures (better than Se doms), the type i imagine living outside in the wild in balance with mother nature; these are the people who can grow a tropical jungle around their backyard; they are the obersvers of wild life, tracking down and following animal species to take photographs of them, with an extremely good awareness of their description in fine detail, the awareness what an Si dom lacks, for comparison. The type of construction/repair workers who work slow, have a (seemingly) long lunch break and tell stories during it, then finish off in time, took care of everything, leave an excellent work behind. Likely they have excellent humor also, much better than STPs, for another comparison. These were real life examples!
I get comfortable around them, feel calm, and at ease. Not a rare type, maybe i see a bit more females of them, just maybe.

Wow, as a (likely) INTJ, I felt deeply what you had to say about a level of self acceptance being necessary for Fi-Ni (and Ni-Fi I assume). Its something Ive been discovering and trying to reach for a long long time now, long before I got into typology. More specifically, it is the balance between idealism and acceptance that really struck a chord.
To me Ive always felt like I have to choose one. I have to “let go and surrender” or keep playing this idealistic game. Its never come across to me as a possibility to achieve a balance between the two mindsets. It feels like if I do attempt it, the Ni idealism completely takes over immediately, like a gigantic magnet you cannot move a single step closer to. And I’ve always theorised that thats probably due to the Ni in the dominant position, and that, with Se and Ni in the middle, such a balance is what ISFPs achieve effortlessly. Really got me thinking. Thanks again Harry.

    • @Siegreist
      @Siegreist Před rokem +7

Fi-Se tends to be a lot more "cold blooded" in nature, and grounded due to this. How actual INTJ's come across, from my actual experiences they couldn't be anymore different from the stereotypes. They're in actuality moreso like critics, and tend to actually have a sensitivity they cannot understand and seek an understanding of. They tend to intellectualize, and rationalize what they can't see or view and create esoteric concepts from it. Which is why they're NI base, they're unassured of what's to come and base a worldview on such uncertainty, and come to an acceptance with it.
In an FI base, you find a character who is assured of his emotionality and strength. Contrary to the stereotypes imposed by MBTI. Really the Fi base is a character who because of his emotionality, and acknowledgement of negativity and reaction. Will be more grounded, and have a colder outlook of the world with a strong sense of personal justice and opinion.

Oh Harry thank you so much!! I was fairly sure of my IxFP typing in CPT, but wasn't sure if it's FiSiNeTe or FiNiSeTe. I found some reasons why I could be both (such as, my supposed Si is not extremely precise, and my supposed Ne is not extremely broad) . But this video clarified that it is more likely I am an INFP, FiSi. Although I still relate to ISFP in some aspects by these points FiSi should dominate for me!
Your mention of Ti-Si dipping really inspired me too (although it would be Ti-Ni for INFP) - because I find myself doing that dipping A LOT!!!! If there's a Ti subtype of INFP, I AM THAT SUBTYPE. I still doubt my INFP typing in regular mbti as classic "Ti demon" doesn't fit me, but neither does Fi demon. CPT kinda solves that dilemma. I guess I wanna say thank you for creating CPT and making these videos!!!❤🎉

  • @Werksonek
    @Werksonek Před rokem +7

Yeah, first of all, referring to the Ti automatically is something that I often struggle with and I haven't realise that before my mid twenties, all the while thinking that I'm super emotionally aware of myself.
Second of all, maybe it's not appropriate, but I wanted to say that I get the impression that you're getting more confident in yourself as years pass by and your development as an individual is documented by your vidoes. Well, that's attractive...*cough*, I meant active* change.
Who wrote that? Those hacking attacks are too easy to make these days!

I find this completely fascinating as someone who automatically defaults to Ti processing....6 months later I might substantiate what I feel about it lol 😂 or I can deduce how I feel about something subject to intense Ti scrutinisation...I guess the difference is I can't bypass Ti so to speak. I think that can lead someone inadvertently open to attack, especially as Ti-Ni can see a multiplicity of possibilities that take time to narrow down.

Yup! Still INFP, I definitely have some ISFP tendencies here and there, although the main clincher of how I know I'm an Fi-Si user, is your description of Sign #4. I am very awkward when it comes to acting in general and when I usually do, the character should at least be similar to my own personality to be comfortable with it, and to the lines saying my self realisation is more of an excavation than an a transformation? That takes the cake. I usually use my Fi as a way to dig deeper on what and who the heck am I rather than just constantly putting on new roles and faces and call it as my own, because while I still can they're still just that, roles and masks that are not really who I am. I still use archetypes though as like little puzzle pieces to see if they represent me in some way, and sometimes it's just fun and intresting.
Anyways, apologies for the slight ramble and thanks for the insight on your new video!

I relate to what you've said as ENFJ ie excavating your personality & making subtle incremental changes over time - it must be the latent INFP subnetwork in me! My husband is INFP and he loved acting in high school and recently he was wanting to do community theater. My mother is ENFP and she did community theater for years.

I'm expecting something like a Aquamarine, cyan, sea green color for ISTPs, like the ocean. Go dive in, so plethoric and expansive, yet, so deep, 95% of it has still yet to be discovered through Ti-discovery.

ISFPs Fi-Ni "modeling upon am archetype/character" internally is so true. Many Isfps I know are like this... Their specific thinking Ti-Si is also spot on. I currently study acting. A couple of months ago I was told by one of my drama teachers that I give an impression of someone who's not always good at being present and enjoying the moment - probably because of my self-critical and self-reflective nature. I was described as perfectionistic and idealistic student who tend to overthink too much and control everything and be quite pessimistic about things. Moreover, I noticed that I'm not really good at controlling my body - that resulted in me questioning my Se function and ISFPsness in general even more. But for as long as I can remember, I've always noticed l… everything. Smaller details which some other people (including Sensors, like an ISFJ), didn't. And the ISFP personality has always been incredibly relatable to me, from some characters to things about aesthetics and fashion and stuff. It's just that these words of my drama teacher made really uncertain about my MBTI + many people told than I'm really hard to get on with and quite sensitive and touchy and defensive. I don't know…
With all mentioned above, do I seem to be an ISFP?

I’m not likely an ISFP. But, when I write, I often dip down into FiNi to fuel my creativity. I recently wrote a poem entitled “Flight of the Phoenix”. In this poem, I wrote about the life journey of the phoenix, which was an idealized embodiment of myself, in that moment. I even used Ni to connect different symbolic representations within my mind, which I am attached to, together and I laid out the structure of the poem with a timeline, which I thought best propelled the journey, as the writing progressed. Of course, I did this very quickly (within 30-45) minutes, so this was still being lead with my Ne dominance (ENFP). Your network theory very well explains how we dip down into various networks naturally (some more naturally than others) and this forms our overall internal network structure. Each type has their own unique complex network structure and will access different networks from different positions, depending on the situation and the way that person reacts to it. This will always be unique to the individual, as well, because each person has had their on experiences and have learned to cope with things in their own way. So, they will be dipping down into whichever network works best for them and also with their own unique flavor. It could be less or more intense and also, depending on the level of development, could yield varying degrees of results. It’s so interesting how all of this comes together. I spend a lot of time playing with different “types”. I can take on a role and even become that type. Of course, this has caused me to mistype many times. But understanding the primary process I use to do this is helpful. It took me interacting with someone within the community over a prolonged amount of time and having my language pattern observed by multiple sources, in order for me to be able to conclude what my core type is. It turns out I’m a divergent ENFP and I was thought to be an INFJ and an INTP at different points. I mistook myself as having convergent Ti, because I had been dipping down into those networks, in order to try to find my type. Of course, INFJ feels more natural, since it is within my dominant network. But INTP was a little more tiring for me to stay in over a longer period of time. TiSi isn’t as natural for me, so it’s difficult for me to use it successfully and maintain it. NiTi, of course, is a more natural dip for me and I can stay within that network for quite some time. Still, it feels as though NeTe is always running in the background and my Fi authority is still propelling me forward and I never lose sight of who I am

From my own clinical experience with ISFPs (of course I see all types), neurotic or rather unstable ISFPs tend to lack Ti-Si specificity. I think the dip is a sign of cognitive maturity to some extent. I think the threshold for emotional lability is naturally higher in ISFPs than most other types. Of course, we all have our own respective strengths & weaknesses 😊

I know what I see I want (right now)... But the "planning for the actual nitty in the moment details?" Not so much. I intend to remedy that with preparation... but more often than not, the thing(s) I *actually* need(ed), is/are the thing(s) I didn't pack... And, in retrospect, it's absolutely obvious that I would have needed it/them.
In your opinion, does that fit into the category of: "Not an ISFP?"
My apologies, I've found myself abased, and can't afford a typing session.. So, this is a *huge* help.

Harry, thank you a lot for this video
I have a question. Sometimes, you’ve mentioned ‘acquiring skill sets’ and this used to be related to Ti-Fe types, specially those in the Ni-Se axis
My question is, What do you mean by skill sets? and whose ownership is this/that’s relevant to who?
I’m aware that you believe there’s nothing a type should/could do, but I thought skill sets were something more relevant to Ti-Fe types, with it being mastery over something (Se-Ni) or mastery over topics/specific knowledge (Ne-Si)
    Thanks for your time

    • @CognitivePersonality
      @CognitivePersonality  Před rokem +2

Ti is naturally more systematic, so skill sets therein can take on more of their own innate value. Te can absolutely be mastery oriented, but there often has to be a utility, a finished result.
What's more, the Ti-Fe axis likes to demonstrate competence to others, giving an additional mastery incentive.
Ultimately skill sets are the expression of an internal framework and system, a 'method'. Ti is therefore invariably involved regardless of type.

I’d say I have more things to process on, since this Te value of “utility; a finished result” also can be indicative of the nature of convergent Ni /‘auxiliary’ Se (Ne blindspot being hyperfixated on a vision) or I’m mistaken with some logic assumptions
Besides that, there are some particular things about my inner workings(?) that feel way too similar for me to discern

One reason ISFPs get mistyped as INTP and ENTP is because Socionics shows they have the same prefered functions.
As ISFPs actually lead with correctly defined SiFe.
It amazes me how us intuitives failed the introverted sensors in erroneously believing Isabel Myers that because her as an INFP led with Fi, so too do actual perceiving ISFPs.
Which is false. As all SPs lead with sensation. Which is why they are perceivers.
