idk if anybody’s said this yet but those lyrics that it’s showing u for most of NotM (i’m only at big dipper) are super wrong, like straight up youtube automatic transcription levels wrong. not that the real lyrics are super decipherable.
injury reserves "by the time i get to phoenix" is sort of like the two discs of these albums combined, but i feel its themes are a lot less hard to see, and also the album is a tribute to the former main singer "groggs" as he passed away a year before it released, its not very industrial like this album is but it is heavily glitchy and really weird but a lot catchier and easier to get into imo
woah u did this quick smags on the grind!! NOTM has some of my favorite experimentation from death grips as a band, the bjork vocal samples r chopped up amazingly and specifically up my sleeves is my favorite track theyve ever put out. bjork actually recorded a lot of those just for them cuz shes a fan which is definitely in character for her lmao. merry christmas also bro
this used to be my favorite album of all time, still is in my top 5 and definitely my favorite hip hop album of all time, this puts me in a very dark and angry place but I love it just as much as I did almost two years ago. it’s awesome to finally see you do this
i will say though, why a bitch gotta lie is very much a grower, I was turned off (lol) originally by the vocals but as you listen to the album more and more you take a liking to the vocals due to its intensity and harshness. at least that's what happened to me idk LOL
death grips 2.0 isn’t on the vinyl edition. more of a bonus foreshadowing track than anything. loved the moment you realize björk was behind the vocal samples 😭
Second half of this album is a straight 10 man nonstop bangers on the back end of this thing. Love your videos man love the authentic reactions and not being afraid to share your distaste as well as your love for a song and confusion rather than milking the surprised face I think you would love injury reserve , by the time I get too phoenix Is 100% their magnum opus but maybe you should start with floss to get some context and acclimated with their sound + the opportunity to spend time with groggs (RIP)
What a great early Christmas present! Shout out to the Smags army! Hope y'all are having a great holiday and are listening to some cool shit! 🧑🎄🎄🎶 As for TPTB, definitely a project I've always liked, but have come to appreciate more and more over time. It's more experimental and less accessible than their other stuff, but it really works for it's ambition and what it tries to do. My favorite songs are Up My Sleeves, Say Hey Kid and The Powers That B
I love this double album, the second half is near perfection to me, I’m so glad you reacted to this and that you did like it. Also my favourite death grips album is year of the snitch, just utter perfection, would love to see you react to that
As a Swede, we celebrate christmas on the 24th. This is a sick christmas present but i'm sorry i couldn't be here and comment when it was uploaded, was obviously spending time with the fam. Merry Christmas anyway Smags!
Hey smags! I love your videos and you’re my favorite CZcams reviewer right now. Here are some of my favorite albums that you should totally check out! The Black Parade - My Chemical Romance (this is my favorite album of all time) I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning - Bright Eyes (most emotional album I’ve ever heard, gets me every time) Breakfast In America - Supertramp (IMO one of the most underrated bands from the 70s) Wish You Were Here, Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall - Pink Floyd Electra Heart - Marina and the Diamonds (super punchy electro pop) Heaven or Las Vegas - Cocteau Twins
I just found your channel and I'm loving your reactions and the thought you put into these tracks! On or off camera I recommend checking out some of the other bands the drummer Zach Hill is in, "Hold Your Horse Is" by Hella is a great start. It might give you some insight into where part of Death Grip's creativity and musicality comes from :)
I also like the second disc more but Bjork vocals in the first are so good to ignore. I really like "year of the snitch" from DG and I would love to see if it's more of your style. Always enjoy your videos!!
Yo Smags just wondering, have you listened to Wish you Were Here by Pink Floyd yet? I know you listened to dsotm but I wasn’t sure if you knew WYWH and I would definitely recommend it if you haven’t Here’s some other Recs: Bocanada by Gustavo Cerati The Argument by Fugazi
The highs of this album are the best of Death Grips for me with Centuries of Damn and On GP but Bottomless Pit is super consistently good the whole way through. Also more Swans perhaps??? The Glowing Man or The Seer perhaps???
I just had the thought that Death Grips 2.0 is his ringtone that rang too long from On GP and thus starting a new Death Grips chapter that begins with Bottomless Pit, hitting rock bottom when there is no bottom
just so you know the apple and spotify lyrics are wrong, they were uploaded before official lyrics when people were guessing what he was saying also dope vid
I never realised that part on gp was phone ringing Recommendation : Captain Murphy - Duality(if you like mf doom I think you would love this album) Flying lotus - 1989 Flying lotus - los Angeles Clash - London calling (in my opinion one of the best albums) The microphones - song islands (you should listen to this)
This was great and i think death grips is hilarious but also very deep and meaningful. Seems like you got a lot out of it. super fun. Their whole discography is great. On gp is still one of my all time favorite songs from them. Bottomless pit is great.
Spotify really fucked the lyrics here. Cool video man. By the way, those yells on Inanimate Sensation are most definitely ride himself, listen to some of his live yelling.
do bottomless pit or the money store, bottomless pit is their most "pop" record to date (take that with a grain of salt as its still wild) but it has catchy hooks and unhinged production, money store is similar but much more electronic
On GP is AFAIK the only track they've made that they've never performed live and probably never will because of how personal and dark it is, even for them. It's also the only track where MC Ride refers to himself by his real name. Also GP stands for "General Principle".
Death Grips is a band that i need to relisten to a lot to understand. I almost never get a DG song on first listen, but i eventually come around to it after a few gos
The fact that the Björk vocals are chopped, sampled and played by Zach on the fucking v-drums??? Blows my mind.
Also don’t sleep on their Steroids (Crouching Tiger Hidden Gabber Megamix) EP
Some of my favorite material from them is on there.
@@fuckskylerwhats ur fav death grips song? Mine is culture shock
@@EndTyphoons “Beware” is up there for me. Also “True Vulture Bare” is an absolute banger that I always forget about.
@@fuckskyler you gotta check out “@deathgripz”
youd probably love the shit out of most of zachs other projects/bands lol
While not my favorite DG album it has some their best moments. And On GP is one of my favorite songs of all time
My fav from it is billy not really, on gp second fav
idk if anybody’s said this yet but those lyrics that it’s showing u for most of NotM (i’m only at big dipper) are super wrong, like straight up youtube automatic transcription levels wrong. not that the real lyrics are super decipherable.
I'd say it's their strongest album quite clearly tho
15:22 The moment you realize who it was the whole time hahaha
Finally another bjork reaction!!
luv the bjork samples in the first half so good
injury reserves "by the time i get to phoenix" is sort of like the two discs of these albums combined, but i feel its themes are a lot less hard to see, and also the album is a tribute to the former main singer "groggs" as he passed away a year before it released, its not very industrial like this album is but it is heavily glitchy and really weird but a lot catchier and easier to get into imo
BTTIGTP will go down as one of the best, most boundary pushing rap albums of the 2020's

Up my sleeves is terrifying
Smags be bringing the powers that b to the holiday season. Much love
This is my #2 all time album I’m SOOOOO HAPPY!!!! Now all I need is A I A: Alien Observer and I’ll never ask anything of you again.
amazing number 1 album

The riff in Why a Bitch Gotta Lie goes so fucking hard, it grew on me so much after a few listens, trust me lmao
And On GP is just magnificent
Please listen to atrocity exhibition by Danny Brown, it is the greatest album of the 2010's arguably
OH MY GOD HE LIKED IT SMAGS I PROMISE U WONT BE LET DOWN BY DANNY BROWN THIS PIPELINE IS AWESOME
Love your channel bro. Merry Christmas
i love how you react to every album right when i get into it myself
death grips 2.0 isn’t on the vinyl edition. more of a bonus foreshadowing track than anything. loved the moment you realize björk was behind the vocal samples 😭
You killed it my dude. Great album, love how both sides have such unique sounds to them.

I love that youtube recommended me this channel
on gp is one of my favourite songs of all time, and i cant believe its from death grips, just a purely crushing description of suicidal ideation
MERRY XMAS SMAGS 🎄🎄🎄🎄i love u. take care.
Releasing a death grips review on Christmas Eve is hilarious
loved this. glad you appreciated disc 1 as well. would love to see more Death Grips OR Zach Hill solo albums!! (preferably FACE TAT)
the first half of the album, all the vocal samples were from bjork btw, pretty cool fact
You don't understand: the fact that you're listening to this while eating goldfish makes you the realest of all time.
Voila was the first Death Grips song Ive heard, before I only listened to pop music on the radio, it opened my eyes fr
From radio pop to death grips is insane
"like daft punk got redpilled" 💀
Nice, Death Grips for Christmas. Santa did get my letter after all!
When you said Centuries of Damn was an absolute banger I knew On GP was going to knock it out of the park.
Definitely return to the first half again, but don't pause in between tracks... It's fucking insane, def my favorite release of theirs.
I also like the second disc more but Bjork vocals in the first are so good to ignore. I really like "year of the snitch" from DG and I would love to see if it's more of your style. Always enjoy your videos!!
Smaga Clause dropping a Christmas ever banger on us

Year of the snitch is great too I would check it out. You’d prefer an astronaut by the hum is great too.

Please react to Mount Eerie by the Microphones. It’s been awhile, but it’s the follow up to The Glow Pt.2 I think you would like it.
This was great and i think death grips is hilarious but also very deep and meaningful. Seems like you got a lot out of it. super fun. Their whole discography is great. On gp is still one of my all time favorite songs from them. Bottomless pit is great.
U should do making a door less open by car seat headrest, then u can start the bandcamp albums ‼️

Hey Smags you gotta check out waiting to spill by the backseat lovers it’s such a great album 10/10

On GP is one of very few songs that makes me tear up every time.
Another comment asking for M83 - Before The Dawn Heals Us and Sigur Rós - Takk. Merry Christmas everyone.
This was going to be their final album.

They’ve performed it live b4
they never do the second half of up my sleeves with the "dead mother in my dreams/ashes off these jeans" bars. definitely understandable.
Bro this the funniest reaction I ever seen 😂😂 do a video on steroids
Death Grips is a band that i need to relisten to a lot to understand. I almost never get a DG song on first listen, but i eventually come around to it after a few gos
these bjork samples are crazyyy
