    When my wife retires and we can travel more my plan is to do either get the gen y or the Shocker with the air bag on my 5th wheel. I deliver campers with my truck and haven't had the chance to pull one with the Gen y. I have pulled one with the Shocker and couldn't believe how well it pulled. I have the bumper pull torsion Gen y 2.5" with 5 height positions and can say it's HEAVY! Very well built. First of your videos I've seen and very well done.

    Okay, I got mine installed, I was wrong on my previous comment. Putting it on the ball first can actually jam you up. We nearly got stuck jammed in there and struggled to get it out. There is no chance of breaking the ball though, the gooseneck will sit on the truck bed, there is a crazy amount of movement at the ball and gooseneck connection. The way you guys did it was better than my idea and (red hoodies idea) but even better would be to have one guy on each side lifting and a wife, girlfriend, grandma, the mail man or another buddy insert a bolt or two to hold it in place. It takes 30 seconds to lift it up and insert a bolt to hold it in place. Way way faster.

In the mean time I towed it with a 2007 RAM 5.9 Cummins, quad cab, 37’s with a 6” lift. We were over loaded for sure payload wise but it towed great. There was a little bucking at some bridges but not bad. They say it takes about 1,000 miles to break in and that should go away.

    Depends on where you tow, if you stay on hiway and sleep at campgrounds 5th wheel is good, if you haul horses and cattle, gooseneck is way to go for articulation, not towing on flat/level ground. 🐴🐂🐮

      @jamesglenn520 Před 5 měsíci

      @tomhopkins6758 Why would you say that?
      A Gooseneck ball is tall and Yes it is attached properly or the lock lever would be standing up instead of laying forward.
      And yes I know what I'm talking about I own a Gen-Y Executive hitch also.

    • @tomhopkins6758
      @tomhopkins6758 Před 5 měsíci +1

      @jamesglenn520 good for you (about ownership of another hitch) that's great 👍 👌.
      I still won't be buying this-due to it NOT having any adjustment in height.
      And in this video. On this day.in this example..that hitch is 100% NOT locked down around the bottom of the ball.
      (That's why I said that)

    • @jamesglenn520
      @jamesglenn520 Před 5 měsíci

      @tomhopkins6758 The hight adjustment is determined by which holes in the frame you use.
      And you can literally hear at 11.07 the click when it locks.
      And at 12.07 you can see that the lock lever is in the forward down position.
      Watch when they unhook.
      He pulls and holds the cable to unlach the jaws.
      When the jaws clear the ball he let's the cable go and the lever springs forward and locks the jaws closed.
      Or better yet search and watch an actual Gen-Y Executive hitch video from Gen-Y instead of Uneducated guessing on how you think it all works 👍

    • @jamesglenn520
      @jamesglenn520 Před 5 měsíci

      @tomhopkins6758 A Gooseneck does not latch down around the neck of the ball like a tongue pull trailer.
      The jaws lock just under the round portion so that the hitch can articulate further.
      You Obviously have Never owned or pulled a Gooseneck in your life.
      Stock trailers have Gooseneck hitches because they can carry more weight and navigate rough terrain.
      That is why you see a lot of stock trailers being pulled with Flatbed Trucks so the trailer can articulate a long ways without hitting the truck.
