I've played the game and it was a really good game for sure, and Geno is a really cool character, but I don't think that warrants him being an addition to Smash.

At least a Mii costume is better than nothing. Being a Mii costume is the closest a character can get to being an actual fighter. Y’know other than being an actual fighter.
As the first guy points out, they could have at least made the Mii costume look like the character by giving it a unique head, a la Sans and Cuphead.

The difference is that all those characters were owned by Nintendo unlike geno who is owned by Square Enix and also : Captain Falcon still had a game franchise when he first appeared in smash 64 and R.O.B. And duck hunt actually left a mark in video game history as they helped games get back in the market, the ice climbers had less of an impact than all of the above which is probably why they were cut from smash 4, geno only rose to popularity bc of a meme

To this day, it still blows my mind that there are actual, real human beings that thought Geno was more deserving to get in Smash than Sephiroth or Sora. Wanting the character to make it to Smash someday is one thing, but so many Geno fans really have deluded themselves into thinking that he's a big deal when he absolutely is not. I don't even hate the character, but he's a total nobody. He never stood a chance when there are so many well-known, well-liked, and iconic characters from both the Mario series and Square Enix's catalogue who have yet to be added to Smash. I expect _Waluigi_ to be made a playable fighter before Geno.

The real reason is that a long time ago, Sakurai said that he wanted to add him in as an actual fighter in the game. This triggered everyone to pray that he sticks to his instincts and does it to represent the RPG.
Honestly even tho part of the geno fanbase is toxic, half of the geno haters are equally as toxic.
I'm personally fine with people wanting characters, like you want goku? He's not gonna get in, but it's ok to want Goku, it's ok to want things, as long as you don't get toxic about it.

I feel like people need to address on just WHY Geno never got in fully, but sadly I haven’t seen anyone seriously address it. So I’ll just say it here.
Sakurai must have the all-clear from EVERYONE who holds the rights to Geno. If even one person, who in this case holds a critical part to the rights, says no, then that’s it. There is NOTHING Sakurai can do about it other than to bring the Mii Gunner costume back.
As a side note, Disney holds a share of Sora as well, and that alone is enough to keep any hope of your key-bearing boy out of the roster. In my honest, humble opinion, Disney would rather buy-out Nintendo than let him join Smash Bros. The sooner you accept that and stop believing in all of the fake ‘leaks’, the better off you’ll be.
I wouldn't say it's impossible for Sora to show up in smash, when it comes to videogames Disney seems less restrictive than any of their other ventures, heck they've been able to work out deals to get the old Disney games up for purchase on modern hardware, stuff like Marvel vs Capcom 3 has been up on digital storefronts for quiet a while.
Frankly i don't think Sora is not showing up because of Disney, but rather because he's a Final fantasy character and Sakurai likely doesn't want to double dip of Final fantasy characters in one season of DLC content. it'd be redundant.
@@Klonoahedgehog that would make sense... if Sora actually WAS a Final Fantasy character. Sadly, he isn’t, and Smash Bros has a tendency to get a booster of sorts going for game brands or company names to get a bit of a boost- case in point, Pit for Kid Icarus, has not had a sequel to the first game in 35 years, until he was added in Brawl- that alone jump-started Uprising, making Pit a relevant character again.
Disney is in no struggling position, and if Disney did want to cooperate to let Sora in, why is he not here still? Point is, something happened during negotiations, and Disney is saying no, so that’s the end of it until they say otherwise.

When I saw that Geno was a mii costume, I had two thoughts go through my head:
1. "People aren't gonna be happy about this, but it's gonna be funny to watch the reactions."
2. "Finally! I've had about enough with the 'leaks' that appear every other week that claim that Geno is getting into Smash. Now all we need is a Sora mii costume and speculation will be interesting again."
Don't forget about the Master Chief, Doom Guy, and Crash Bandicoot costumes.
@@naikou1633 Yeah, but if I'm being honest Master Chief would realistically be the one to be a gunner costume. I just cant see Crash get in smash any other way than being a fighter, he's just too big in the gaming community it wouldnt be doing him justice.
And also I wouldnt mind a Doom Slayer costume, but I would just prefer him as a fighter because of his moveset potential and his overall impact on FPSs as a whole.

How is it well-deserved? Sure, sometimes we go a bit overboard with speculation. But not all of us are like that. We all just wanted to see this forgotten, but great character get some attention, even if it was just an upgraded costume. I’d understand being happy about speculation being over, but simply being happy that people are upset after waiting years for some type of improvement and not getting it, that’s just unwarranted and disrespectful.

can someone tell me why everyone hate geno fans,they say that we are toxic and we want shut up about a character and that we always a new character that isn’t geno.
Honestly,i’m happy for what we got,at least is a mii costume,also i’m nit even upset for the new fighter i think they are pretty cool.
It mostly boils down to Geno being a often brought up pick. Fans of other characters who don't understand the appeal have made him and subsequently his fanbase to be this sort of catch all boogeyman, they want other characters in the game and to see that people want this random puppet upsets them because they feel it may hurt their characters chances. The fanbase of smashbros is unfortunately quite toxic when you boil it down and seeing how Geno is a popular character, most of the claims about the Geno fanbase is just projection of the community as a whole. I believe the only real reason I can find as to why people really hate Geno fans is due to the constant speculation on how he was due to being the next dlc; this isn't only prevalent to Geno fans as plenty of characters receive similar treatment and it wraps around to my previous statements.
tl;dr: People on the internet(and subsequently the smash community) need to shit on others to feel better. It's messed up but hey, what else is new.

Being a person who wanted Sephiroth, geno fans have always been a nuisance, because Sephiroth fans never cried about him not being in smash, but Geno fans have. I was certain Sephiroth wouldn't get in, but then he did, happiest day ever. Geno fans cry loudly because their character isn't as iconic, isn't as cool, and isn't Sephiroth.
From what I’ve seen, most Geno fans have seemed to move on and accept that he isn’t in the game. The main people I see crying are Sora and Waluigi fans still thinking the characters have a shot even after Waluigi was added as an assist trophy and Sephiroth was added as a fighter.

If you think about it, Geno has no hell chance to be full paid DLC figther. He is more fitting as a base roster addition since he wouldn't be bankable with as a standalone addition being that most people know him as the "guy Sakurai considered adding him that one time" and I don't see a lot of people clamoring for more SMRPG content. But since the base roster is done, we'll just have to wait for the next game I guess.

I don’t know why people are surprise. Square Enix has some many iconic characters so of course they’re not going to pick him. Heck even Indie characters are recognizable than Geno.

I get why Geno isn't in smash, but Mario and Final Fantasy had a couple sport crossover games, and I find it weird why Geno wasn't considered for them.
Like I'm not a Geno kinda lad, but I do love me some obscure characters in my crossover game,
