Now that April Fools is over, I can say these are what I tend to leave out of reaction videos I do.
Note: I don't promote hate culture, and I don't want people to go out of their way to diminish these people. They are free to have their own opinions, even if some are closing their ears to listening to differing ones. Also not one opinion makes a whole person. These are just some of the lesser reactions these guys have. Trust me, ConnorEatsPants and Underdogs have respectable for hype for Minecraft and others with Sephiroth.

Dark Samus was created by Retro Stuidos, a Nintendo subsidiary and American company
And Steve was made by Mojang, a Swedish company
Everyone else is made by Nintendo, Konami, Sega, Bandai Namco, Capcom, Square Enix, Atlus, SNK, and Intelligent Systems, all Japanese companies (Sora is in an odd grey area where he was created by a Japanese company but is exclusively owned by an entirely separate American company being Disney, but he still counts under this banner)

I get what they’re saying though, only one character out of all 11 FP characters wasn’t a human and 6 of those 10 were from JRPGs
@@deester7914except most of the JRPG characters were from franchises that also deserved to be in or gave more representation to franchises that weren’t as appreciated in smash before their release (and then there’s Byleth of course even though I still love them). Overall I feel like the term “JRPG” while technically accurate does not really portray the real gameplay of each of the games represented in smash
People's reaction to hero really shows how basically no one in the west plays dragon quest, but people in Japan absolutely freaked out as soon as they heard the overture theme
I'm pretty sure the release of every game in the series is considered a national holiday over there. I mean to give a look one of these days.
Smash """fans""" not knowing anything about Nintendo beyond Mario and Zelda and getting upset about characters they know nothing about is the worst thing Smash has ever done to the actual Nintendo fanbase. They even poison conversation around the games that get reps in Smash.

I think Underdogs are the second worst though with the Sephiroth reveal acting like you practically have to be a type of basement dweller to know what Final Fantasy is despite it being the highest selling RPG of all time and supposedly wanting Sora even though Sephiroth was a major fight in Kingdom Hearts. I never played Final Fantasy, but the name Sephiroth was incredibly popular in 90's and 00's, up there with Zelda.

I was mad at your first and last two characters you mentioned. Both of them were trash picks. There were tons of better characters in Arms. And Nintendo picked NONE of them. Minecraft is anything but a fighting game. There is no reason for it to be in Smash.

There aren’t even that many of them when looking at the bigger roster picture. 80+ fighters and around 20 of them use swords. I’d understand if they played the same, but aside from the three Links and 4 Lords who share similar moves, everyone plays differently and/or has varying mechanics. At this point it’s just people hating sword people because they can, which is just dumb :/

I'll be honest, I used to be a part of the Byleth hate train, (You know, the whole uueegghh Fire Emblem swordsman deal) but then, I watched other people be happy for the character and thought, "Y'know, if this character makes others happy, then I'll be happy as well." Now with whoever these last few characters are, even if I don't know them, I will welcome them with open arms, because this game's roster is already excellent, so the more the merrier

Well, Max's reaction on Steve's trailer was not bad. Yeah, he was mad, but he said that even if it wasn't his dream, it was someone else's dream and he was fine with that even if he dosen't like the character
Remember, this game has already put some of Max's favorite characters. Mega Man, Ken, Cloud, Bayonetta, Ryu, Terry, Sephiroth. The man is so happy. So, it's alright that it's not always his characters that got put in the game. Because he's happy with what he has.
Max has always been real bout stuff like that ,that's one of the reasons why he is so beloved in the fgc.

Honestly I don't see the appeal for Geno who was in 1 game from over 20 years ago. I haven't played it so I guess that I don't understand but clearly that applies the same to them that they haven't played other games that isn't a first person shooter or Mario game.

Gee it's almost as if this is an Nintendo fighting game primarily focusing on Nintendo's own characters.
To be fair, the first fighter pass contains mostly of third party characters. Of course people are expecting a third party character instead of Byleth. Though, if you want my opinion, I feel like the Nintendo characters should've been in the base game or in the next game instead of DLC.
I also think that Sakurai could've just delay this game to have more Nintendo characters along with the Stage Builder in the base game instead of an update.
Again, this is just my opinion. So please pardon me if I sound like an @$$ to you.
After a pass of 4 third party characters, just trying again a generic first party character at the end of the first pass isn't going to sit well with people people.
The first jerk’s reasoning for not wanting Snake in the game was “he’s too realistic”. This is dumb cuz if you know anything about Metal Gear, you’d know those games get pretty bizarre with 4th wall breaks and the eccentric characters like Revolver Ocelot or Vamp. Overall, he sounds like someone that never played or never seen the games at all and that makes him sound ignorant.
Stuff like this makes me happy that I take Smash as an opportunity to learn more about the gaming industry, instead of just being plain toxic
Like, when it was leaked that Terry was gonna be the next fighter, I was disappointed and all like "who the heck is this guy", but then after learning a bit of the character's background and how he's so popular in areas like South America, it managed to even make me excited about his final trailer. It's great that Smash is a game were fans of all genres and places can have a character to cheer on :)
Bunch of people not realizing some of the strings Nintendo had to pull to get a lot of these characters. Ungrateful is what that's called
tbf, you have to look into the why that nintendo is pulling strings to get these characters in, and main reason being to please their userbase as ultimately that's where the payout for their development and inclusion is coming from. If their userbase is dissatisfied with their choices, then nintendo failed at understanding their market's wants and desires for their titles. They have a right to complain just as much as the next guy. Steve from minecraft was a stupid choice for a fighting game. While the popularity of the character/originating title makes sense, he just doesn't fit the series. Square peg/round hole.

All I have to say is:
Always have low expectations with reveals.
I didn't care much about Hero when he got in despite actually playing the Dragon Quest games years ago, but then played him on release and I had a blast.
When Steve & Alex got revealed, I was excited to play as him. Yet, an old friend hated me for it because I made jokes back in 2018 and 2019 of "I want Minecraft in Smash."
It's not about who gets in, it's about if they're fun to play as. A lot of people tend to forget that.
I'm welcoming all characters into Smash Ultimate with open arms, even if it's a character I don't have any personal connection with.
If only every member of the Smash community was like you. 👍

Kirby fan? He created Kirby. Of course he likes his own creation. I personally didn't hate any of the characters added. The only one I was meh about was Steve because he seems like such a weird inclusion but I quickly was alright with it because Sakurai can make almost anything feel like they fit in with the game.
To the people who are complaining about “Corny” and are playing Smash Bros, where’s the fun if there is no Corny. That’s one thing that makes the game great. This is why Banjo and Kazooie are funny and entertaining to watching whenever he goes “Guh-huh” or any of his attacks. It is part of him as a character that make him wholesome.

Thank you for this! I honestly prefer the more silly and "Corny" Characters over the more serious Characters. Because i personality think that the silly characters fits the mood of Smash better as a game full of slapstick violence and humor. Also, you are absolutely right about Banjo & Kazooie. They are really funny and wholesome.

Honestly I felt like the only person who wanted Byleth in smash not gonna lie probably not as the final one of the pass but I’m glad he/she finally came but I went on twitter and I saw a lot of hate people telling Sakurai to quit and shit and I just don’t understand you can’t say no one wanted this character just because you didn’t and then go on social media and make others feel bad for liking a character I haven’t once hated a single character in smash because I know the struggle it is making them I just accept them I’m either super hype or I’m super appreciative I have another character to play with if the last character is another Fire Emblem you better fucking believe I’m gonna be jumping out of my chair super happy and praising Sakurai

Honestly when I saw Steve revealed I was surprised for multiple reasons. I was surprised they added Minecraft to Smash but I also never knew Steve was from Minecraft. I typically turn live chats off for Nintendo Direct as it's just annoying seeing people spam the same stuff, but I do remember seeing people say Steve for Smash but I never knew who that was as I don't play Minecraft. In the end I was pretty neutral on Steve being added as I don't personally play Minecraft, but I didn't have a problem with him being there. I honestly don't understand why some people get angry, I can understand being bummed out if a character you like doesn't get added but you don't need to lose it when other characters you're not interested in get picked. After all this is all DLC and nobody is forcing you to buy it.
Whenever I see these kinds of people, I just have The Rolling Stones song “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” plays in my head. Like I wanted Bandana Waddle Dee and was a bit salty with Steve, but I’m happy with Banjo and Terry.
90% of “Smash fans” don’t even play video games. Hell, they don’t even play Smash. To them, characters getting in is the equivalent of their favorite celebrity getting an award at an awards show. The majority of people in this video are in that 90% (Not Max. Max is cool.)

To be honest the only character I ever could’ve asked for was Bomberman or Shantae but at the very least, they are mii costumes so that’s a plus for the most part. My best friend wanted Dante but he too became a mii costume.

I never understood the sheer amount of pure hatred Steve got. It’s a character that’s meant to represent sandbox games as well as the fact that Minecraft is one of the best selling video games ever (aside from tetris which surprisingly has never gotten a stage or anything in smash iirc).

I freaked out when Steve was added because I am a Minecraft fan. He deserved to be added because Minecraft is the the most sold game ever and it started as a small indie game. Super smash bros is about the celebration of videogames, so it makes sense to add Minecraft into the game for its achievements.
