Gold 66 just keeps getting more handsome! Glad you told us when Blake will be going. I thought he was already gone. We, the fans will miss him a lot for sure, just like you, Alan, will miss all his help at the Farm. Lovely to see how much patience Ray has with Nicky, Ive had a few Farriers that if the horse wasnt willing to stand still, they wouldnt work on them. 66 looks gorgeous, Im not partial to palaminos, but he is very beautiful. Im a paint women, Duchess is my favorite most definately. Blessings family.

I like Rays approach and horse handling, years ago when I had a pony the first farrier I asked to come in was an absolute bastard, almost pushed him through a wire fence and said you gotta teach em whose in charge! Not the best way to go, hence, he never came back again! A good farrier is very important!

I love how many people believe the myth about the color of the hooves. We used to have a paint mare 4 white feet in the 10 years we had her only 1 abcess. It's just an old wives tale. The color is just pigment.

You should think about sending .Mickey to AMERY for ground work...since Blake won't be there to help and you are going to have your hands full and Mickey needs that every day work at this age.... Like your farrier's method...and Micky has lots potential

Alan, will Blue Mickey go completely white with a black mane, stockings, and tail? Or will she be just mottled black, gray and white? Mickey sure is a beautiful horse, just like Gold 66. Martin's Quarter Horses sure produce some stunning horses.
This is pretty much her adult color. Roaning is the base mixed with white. A strawberry roan is a red roan and they can be pretty light. Mickey he said is a blue roan so she's a base of black.
If you are going to breed more mares with Gold 66, Is shoeing him on the front really a good idea? We never put front shoes on our breeding stallion. Just curious. Not trying to be critical.
I don’t think God ever made an ugly horse. Some are a little cantankerous, but patience and constant handling will usually prevail. Most are what I call people minded, they want attention and to please you. When you get to that point you can teach them anything.

Spurs new owners will have to turn him into a grain Baby to catch him. Mine all come running when I whistle and shake some grain in a bucket.
