- Hey guys! Hope you are all doing amazing! So here's my reaction to Diana Ankudinova's performance of Can't Help Falling in Love. I am very very surprised by how round and deep her voice is. It was really unexpected and it gave me chills. I wonder how her normal talking voice sound like because her singing voice sounds like a man. She is blessed with such a unique voice and I hope her talent will get recognized even more. Thank you guys for recommending this video. :)

For me, Diana never sounds like a man. I think more properly to refer to her voice as a maternal one. Mother-bear which takes care about her pet, or mother-Russia or mother-Nature. Sometimes Diana sounds even as a living goddess, f.ex. listen to her growl in "Human" (better choose the latest performances).

Great first reaction to this very unique performer! She is indeed a surprise when you first encounter her. Diana is a true dynamic contralto- the rarest female voice. She’s also polyphonic- so she’s basically her own auto-tune.
As an aside, she has a very tragic back story filled with abuse, torture and near death ( it’s worth looking into) nonetheless she has a beautiful spirit that is undiminished and that shines through for all to see.

Diana sang this Elvis Presley song in the first episode of the 'Шоумаскгоон' (ShowMASKgoon) competition. Diana is the youngest participant and with her first song she tore the participants and viewers from their seats.
9 winners of the previous shows 'The Mask', 'Superstar' and 'Du bist Super' take part in this new format and they have to sing in 9 categorys: Folk-Hit, Song at the End of the 20th Century, Soviet Song, Pop-Hit, Song of your Choice, New Music, Song from Cartoon or Film, Rock-Hit, Grammy
The man who jumps up is the famous opera singer Yusif Eyvazov and husband of the world-well known opera singer Anna Netrebko. He is a guest of honor and representative of the operatic genre in this first episode of the competition.
Those competitors have to evaluate each other and they have praised Diana in the highest tones: “Diana has no competition on the show, she amazes with her talent, it is impossible to tear yourself away from her, you want to listen endlessly, they have tears in their eyes and are even afraid to blink”.
8 out of 9 participants (Diana cannot give herself any points) gave Diana the highest number of points (9). She received a total of 72 points and is w ell ahead of second place (55 points). 24 hours after the show Diana had already reached over 300,000 viewers on CZcams, the second participant 71,000, the other 11,000-24,000 views ... Diana is a student in Moscow. She's on Russian TV for the next two months and she's uploaded the first 3 weeks of her performances on her official CZcams channel. You should check them out. This was the first one. She provides English subtitles for her non-English videos. She sings in multiple languages. She has one of the most unique singing voices on the planet.

Hearing a true contralto for the first time is always a ride, but that's how much weight and depth of timbre they have. She sang before she could speak (speech issues that required therapy and that included singing lessons). She's actually an expert yodeler. You tend not to hear that kind of stuff in her western covers (because it wouldn't make sense), though her break sits so low she does sometimes yodel flip up. If you watch her Russian folk performance of Rechenka you'll see a lot of her trademark stylistic choices in full display. Blizzard is another good performance. Her recent performances of Derniere Danse are also fantastic. Her original songs are in my chill playlist, as they are very relaxing. She has great covers of 80s songs like Take On Me that you wouldn't expect. A great Scorpions cover for a song I never liked until she covered it.
She's an expert at yodels, dissonance, harmonics (polyphonic overtones and subharmonics). Her subharmonics are so good I'm still trying to figure out how she does it. I only know the vocal fry technique for entering subharmonic register.

My interpretation of it all, when she sings that wonderful and super emotional cover is that she's a faraway and exiled witch girl (that can manipulate others with her magical and positively cursed female voice) living in the darkest woods far from civilization and have fall in love with a human boy (a boy she stalks almost every time ,when she's at the outskirt of the woods, close by the human city in which he's unaware of that she does..)from the royal palace that she KNOWS she's never can (not only due her condition of being a witch girl, but also when she talks, then it goes unusually manly deep despised by many snub and irrational royalists and other lower rank human citizens ,where the human boy are among with constantly. It however goes very well, when singing with it, though. Her most ultimate capabilities) have in which that hurts her so almost deadly bad and that's why she's mesmerizing emotionally expressing herself with this unique cover of that wonderful song of Elvis P. a voice so dangerous and mesmerizing that it destroys almost all on her path where she is in the woods after ANOTHER unreachable love-sight of the human boy....Yeah..lol....

You have stumbled upon the greatest voice of our time = Serendipity! Be sure to read her amazing backstory. Very sad but it may have driven her to this great level having experienced such adversity. Be sure to checkout Diana's "Wicked Game", "Rechenka", and "Derniere Danse" (but a concert hall performance not the the same talent show as the first two I mentioned which are produced by HTB.

This was the first of 9 shows. Each contestant(9) gets to sing 1 song of 9 different 'genres/styles'. In this first show
Diana had to do a song from the Grammy Awards, next show someone else will have to do the Grammy.
The tenth person in the middle of the top row is a different guest each show.
The FULL video link below has 11 segments, the first is an intro to the show, the 9 that follow are all of the contestants
performing, the second last segment is Diana singing, and the last segment is the voting session.
No contestant can vote for themselves. The scoring points are from 2 to 9 and each point can only be given once in
every show. (NO Judges, voting done by contestants)
