This vintage Vogue Dolls Inc. film shows the popular Ginny and Ginnette Dolls. Vogue Dolls was best known for their Ginny doll named for Mrs. Graves’s daughter Virginia Graves. Vogue was created by Jennie H. Graves in 1922 and became one of the largest doll only manufacturer in the world. The company was active until 1972. It is presented by Vogue Dolls Inc. (:11). The film stars Faye Emerson (:23); an American film, stage and television actress in the 1940’s and 50’s. Faye is pictured flipping through a book for young children (:32) as the film notes it was reviewed by the editors of Parent’s Magazine. Faye begins to tell the story of a little girl who met two dolls named Ginny and Ginnette (1:14). The child of the story; Pam is seen entering her room (1:36) tossing her jacket lazily onto the ground. Pam is pictured in class not paying attention to the teacher (1:57). Pam’s mother sets to picking up after her daughter in her room (2:50). Pam and her mother make a game in order to help with Pam’s chores (3:28). Her mother looks at a window shop display of dolls (3:43). The Ginny and Ginnette dolls are pictured at the front of the display (3:49). She chooses the dolls to help her educate her daughter to take better care of herself and her things (4:08). Pam is shown changing Ginny’s clothes to display how the dolls were to help the child learn to take care of her own clothing (4:40). A montage follows of the doll in various outfits (4:55). Pam takes the dolls outside to play (5:44). The girl and the doll take a nap together after lunch (5:52). The girl is pictured with her dog and the doll as they play ‘tea party’ (6:13). Pam cleans up and organizes the dolls clothes (6:44) as she begins to understand their value. She sets to clean her own room and take care of her own clothes (7:26). Pam takes her doll to school with her (8:02). Upon entering class, she gives her doll to the teacher (8:15). The teacher notes various pieces of the doll’s clothing which hail from various countries to peak the young student’s interest (8:49). The girl readies her doll for bed (9:34). She smears cake onto the Ginnette doll (9:55) and washes the baby doll in a small bowl (10:27). Pam feeds the doll with a small bottle (11:13). Washing the doll also teaches the young girl healthy bathing habits (11:50). Mother and daughter and the two dolls are pictured taking a walk together (12:45). An image follows of Parent’s Magazine (12:54) which commended the dolls. The main marketing technique of the company was that a girl would be happier learning while she was playing (13:14). This film was produced by Fiore Film (13:31).
Vogue was founded by Jennie H. Graves and grew from modest beginnings to be the largest doll manufacturer in the world. Ginny was officially born in 1951, and was named after Jennie Grave's daughter Virginia. The dolls had beautiful wardrobes and lots of accessories, and inspired an entire group of competitive 8" dolls in the 1950s and beyond. Today, the Ginny dolls of the 50's are considered highly collectible and desirable.

I was a little girl in the 1950’s and enjoyed this so much! I had a Ginny doll, a Ginette and Miss Revlon-all my favorites. Thank you for making my day!

I have a miss Revlon also! She’s a great doll, and after watching this, Ginny and ginnette seem to be great too! I wish I could have seen the 50’s. The closest the seems to be collecting it!

13:45 Ginny was my favorite out of the 30 some dolls I had in the 1950's. She went everywhere with me in her little carrying case. She was my best friend. I remember Mom taking me to a department store downtown Fort Worth where the sales lady showed us many Ginnys with different hair color and styles. On Christmas morning I found my Ginny under the tree with her carrying case, lots of outfits a white fur coat and hat, roller skates & ice skates. I took her everywhere with me. On the way back from a couple of years in Germany I set her carrier down next to the luggage waiting for taxi to take us to the USSConstitution. Back in the States I asked my Mom where are my dolls? My Mom told me I had set her down next to the wrong luggage and my stepfather had given all my other dolls to an orphanage. I love my Ginny. Years later I became a doll collector with over 300 dolls. Many of which my Mother bought for me. This in.cludes about thirty Ginnys from the 70's, 80's and later. None will ever take the place of my first Ginny.

That’s a sad story, I hope your Ginny had a good life at the orphanage. I’m sorry. At least you have plenty now!

Obviously, "Pam" is a very enthusiastic girl, despite her reputation as a wild child.

I had a couple reproduction Ginny dolls in the 90's. They were so cute! The furniture was really cool!

The eyes of the baby Ginette doll did look creepy at this point in the film, but I think that was a lens adjustment issue.

Disagree as the Vogue Doll Co. had/has a very long history of dolls dating back to the 1930's. The Vogue dolls were innocent, not sexual in nature. The founder, Mrs. Jennie Graves, was not into advertising her dolls on TV commercials to exploit the innocent children. The complete opposite of how Barbie was introduced to the public and a complete opposite in image of a doll!!!

Might consider not watching it. It’s like grown men watching Barney then getting mad and yelling at the kids about how naïve, and stupid it is then flipping off their kids.
