- Full review of the 2023 Mahindra XUV700 in AX7 luxury trim, including price, specs, interior, engine, handling, warranty and more.
The Mahindra XUV700 has arrived in Australia to compete with cheaper seven-seat SUVs like the Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan X-Trail and Skoda Kodiaq.
Hailing from India, the XUV700 has a turbo petrol engine and front-wheel drive plus a remarkably upmarket looking interior.

🇦🇺 Wow - so many negative comments. With the price of some vehicles quickly escaping many people's budgets, its good to see a new vehicle thats affordable. May even help get some of the 10 year old SUVs off the road.
This SUV is so feature packed but they’ve barely covered any. When the Scorpio N didn’t have any of them, they made a big fuss of it.
Good point
People have no idea regarding the pedigree and sturdiness of Mahindra vehicles. There is a reason why the Indian army uses these vehicles in some of the most inhospitable terrain known to man!
Absolutely true..
No thanks
Mahindra vehicles have survived such a horrible terrains & weather of india. So it can survive anywhere in the world. May be extreme cold condition of -30 degree is the only challenging condition. Otherwise it can survive at -20 degree to +55 degree easily
@@Jeffs8247no one’s asking you to buy one buddy, i doubt you can afford it either.
@@ryzer4189 lol that's a white one for you
It will last more than some car reviewer's career
Damn
Awesome! Finally a nice affordable car considering even hatch backs are going for $40k these days
All this for $27k ? They can sell this for $30k in USA like hot cakes! If only they speed up the manufacturing process, one year wait already in India
Currently, Mahindra only sells the Scorpio and XUV700 in RHD countries. I’m hoping they are looking to enter North American and European markets after gauging the responses in LHD markets.
It achieved an impressive 5-star rating for adult occupant protection and 4 stars for child occupant protection in the Global NCAP crash test.
Thankyou China and now India. They are following the South Koreans where they were years ago. It’s called competition and I personally thank you for it.
Given the price of japanese cars these days. Wonder why buy them. top spec previous gen xtrail was 45k and current is 62k...kidding me
Nah man, South Koreans have a different strategy and Indian companies operate differently. Mahindra cars are not affordable because they need entry to the Aus. Market like Kia, Hydundai who burned money to sell their cars cheap to get entry to the market and now you can't touch them. Mahindra and other Indian car makers produce affordable and reliable cars from the get-go. Their production lines are setup in a way to sell cheap and still earn profits without cutting corners. Yes, some additional features, functions are not offered to keep the cost low though. But these days, components being locally manufactured in India is helping a lot in leveraging cost
@@anootoshsarkar686reliable 😂not yet der wait for some more few more years.

Indian products are diffrent than others
Othrer products will pass many conditions in india its not simple matter
If a car can be desirable to middle class Indians and last on their roads with the traffic density there is in India, it's definitely not a bad offering, not for the price point anyway. Guys, you will be surprised at the quality of most products made in India, they are cheaper, are of good quality, built to last and insanely good value.
It’s a great car at a great price. Not just a not-a-bad offering.
@@VMRDYthis one and the Scorpio lines are, but Mahindra has had some very stupid offerings in the past...but I guess they've evolved
This is a compelling high value offering. If Mahindra can offer significantly more metro dealers then I would take a look at it. Mahindra is a factory operation, it’s not via a distributor so that’s good. Customer support, reliability and longevity are all unknowns of course.
Mahindra are pretty good overall. Doesn't appear to be a lot of issues with dealers or their servicing . Just a lack of dealers at the moment. That's being rapidly addressed
@@Coastmac2001Customer support and servicing really depends on your location and how soon they get approvals to set up shop in your vicinity. Here in India, 5 years back they had 2 dealership-cum service centers in my district (it's a suburb in the outskirts of the Hyderabad city), now they have 3 open in this district and the 4th opening soon. Reliability wise these cars are beasts, trust me. I drive a Thar and 2 years on, all I had to change was my engine oil & DEF after 10000 & 18000 kms. so far Costing me around ₹4-5k. The next service is due after 30000 kms. straight up and so far I've clocked around 24k. I had some issues with the AC and had to change the filters but that's it so far. So lets see, future seems bright 😉😊
It's pretty good for 3lakh to 5 lakh ....alot better than chevy and Ford but not at all comparable to Toyota....very cheap to maintain....great value for money.....
I think you are starting to find particularly in Melbourne in Dec23’ is a few “pop up” shops stocking the three models sold here. The XUV, Scorpio and the “Pick up”… UTE for us Aussies. Some standard showroom drive away’s, but what has spun me out, is I’m legitimately looking into the “upper class” XUV700, and with extras, being window tint, tow ball and mats and boot liner, it is only going to take 8 weeks to come into the country! I was looking at a Nissan Patrol and with basic extras I was looking at 14 months!!! So as everyone is saying, time will tell, but you will find the heavily populated Indian suburbs are where the actual dealerships will pop up. Be interesting to see if the “Mahindra Jeep” look alike ever gets over being sued and the new design meets their standards!😂😂😂
There’s enough room in the back for me and Ponch to play swords ⚔️
Under 40k? Seems like i got a car to impress my wife and my family .. we're just a family of 4 and a baby .. i guess this would be perfect for us
Built to a price? They're all built to a price. What does that mean?
How does it stack up to CX5 or Forester? Where would you place it in the category?
A review without an outcome isn't much of a review.
Built to a price is normally regarded to mean "built to a low price". As for comparisons, we don't generally make too many assumptions without a back-to-back test - we prefer to do things scientifically if we can. So look out for upcoming megatests. Thanks.
The answer is Time will tell. But I can tell you one thing, they have been in the industry for far too long and back in india they are very reliable vehicles.
I would look to South African reviews and/or reviews by foreign Australian journos in India. The XUV 700 has been in SA for sometime now.
Mahindra is known Build quality and engine performance, reliability ❤❤
Best car ever. Waiting for Diesel AWD variant.
same here. apparently its the same power plant as scorpio and due to prod constraints they are allocated to the scorpio for now.
Apparently we might see it in about or possibly under 12 months
It is a pretty good drive. The quality is very good & it's better than people think. The petrol is thirsty when pushed , but diesel AWD variants are actually expected in around or under 12 months. I've had 2 dealers already indicate this . It has Adreno X?? So if that's the case why no Sat Nav, Alexa & what 3 Words etc along with other connectivity features that other markets get??
Even if they didn’t offer built in sat nav, they could’ve easily offered wireless CarPlay and wireless Android Auto offered in the Indian version.
In indian version you do get alexa

Wow if this is cheap in Australia, lucky, they shld own one, it's worth every penny😊

Will it last? Mahindra is known for their reliability in India. They are the Toyota of India. We are lucky they are bringing it here in Australia. Ill be getting the ScorpioN if Thar is no available
Yes bro u r ryt , m from India. XUV 700 is a trusted car here n also safe
Over in India toyota is not really recognized for its reliability but its capability to off road and companies like honda and mahindra are more known when it comes to reliability
In India the base model starts under $30k with higher luxury tax.
Base model in india is really basic… no assisting features basically bare bones..
Mahendra cars in India generally last long, but only xuv500 and xuv300 were the only passenger car, while all others were agricultural utilitarian. Even these 2 cars were not long over due for nexgen upgrades..
Many negative comments from china 😅
Families and wages are going backwards in real terms, and if you need/want a new car with modern safety tech and a warranty, lower budget options like Mahindra or MG etc are your only option. I’m glad us on the lower end of things have some decent options available. Many of us simply can’t afford something that starts with a 5 or 6 in the price
Mahindra is in talks to own MG
@@PratUshhCare to elaborate?
@@VMRDY Mahindra is in talks to acquire MG motors. Mahindra used to own SsangYong till 2022, and also own Peugeot Motocycles. Mahindra is not just maker, its a huge conglomerate, so it does keep acquiring companies like most other brands of that size.
@@PratUshh Could you provide a source?
@@PratUshh It is speculated that Mahindra might buy a stake in MG Motors India which is a subsidiary of MG Motors, not MG Motors itself. This means that even if it did indeed happen, Mahindra will have nothing to do with MG Motors outside India.
I like a lighter coloured interior.
Will it last?? Of course yes. Mahindra is in the industry for over 70 yrs.
Mahindra is flexing muscles at last.
It's comparable to legacy brands and not worse than any of the Chinese offerings.
Some of the plus points I like are the actual functioning buttons (instead of having to toggle through the infotainment system and get distracted whilst driving) is a safe bet on it's own.
I'm thinking in a couple of years, Mahindra will have picked up their game and offer much better Australian expectation.
Meanwhile, hope they bring in the AWD Diesel with black interior soon.
For our western friends that do not have any idea about the history of this company. This is the same company that got official license to make original willy's Jeep. Not copies. Original jeep! The jeeps they built in those times you can still see some of them in rural areas of India! This is the quality of metal used by mahindra in their cars. Their whole usp is making vehicles that can last for generations. Mahindra and Tata two Indian brands that are known for this. You may or may not face some issues with electronics if you get a bad apple but the vehicles built by these two brands last for ages
SUV 700 L is the Best option.
If it can survive Indian conditions, it can survive anywhere!

This extremely plush and technologically advanced SUV still retains a manual rear view mirror. WHY?
To make u burn calories on the go 😂😂 it does have automatic ORVM's
They decided that adjusting the rear view mirror can easily be done with hands and making it electronic is unnecessary and also would increase cost and also increase a possible point of failure. I actually prefer manual RVM.
Look out crv
And CX-5, Forester, Outlander and X-Trail, just to mention a few.

I would love to ask foreigners if they dont want mahindra vehicles as they consider it trash then please dont disgrace it and show review of them as we indians have feelings attached with this company .If u dont like just skip the video and go buy some Lambo which eventually evryone loves
Hahaha - will it last ? In India Mahindras are known for their toughness and the longetivity, that far outdoes the Toyota Landcruisers, GMCs, BMWs, Mercs, Nissans &c &c. And remember, you are talking about India, where weather and road conditions can be extreme beyond Chasing Cars' most lurid dreams. The Indian Army uses Mahindras in the flooded plains, right upto the Himalayas, in places without roads, above the perpetual snowline. Their 10 and 15 years old Mahindras still work fine. I have personal experience. Such poorly researched reviews are in part the reason why Chasing Cars has just 159k subscribers; not sure you are not paid by some of those under threat from Mahindra's competition.
That's why Indian army prefer Mahindra any day they are experienced
Diesel mileage in India is around 20kmpl❤

No, they are mostly manufactured in India (the elctronic parts) and the transmission and other things are sourced from European and Japanese OEMs
India has strict tax laws now for sourcing from Chinese OEM's....a little bit discriminatory but what to do, nobody likes market manipulation by the Chinese
Hahaha indian car makers never use chinese junk. All are made in india with indian products.
