Great video. I did one like this for the my Ultra 310. I bought a new FX in 2021 and after less than 100 hours the nano hull began to aggressively delaminate on the side. I did nothing wrong but neither my insurance nor Yamaha would cover it..so I glued it back together and traded it in, losing over $8,000. Glad they atleast went back to SMC for your FX. It was a great riding ski and mechanically I had now issues- just wish they made the hulls / coatings more durable

@@WatercraftshackI have a 1996 Yamaha WaveVenture 1100 and it could be dropped off a 2 story building and would probably not get a scratch lol Yamaha used to build such durable thick hulls..I think they kept going thinner and lighter in pursuit of better power to weight ratios as the 4T engines got heavier, but they went too far..the SMC FX is a move in right direction. Even a standard marine paint like Interlux or Awlgrip (industry standards) would hold up better than whatever they use now

I completely agree with all the issues you mentioned, and number 1 is the most frustrating. My Ski got a lot of scratches just after my second ride, and now it looks like it's been used for at least a year! I don't know how that happened, but it is what it is.

I have 2 2024 FX's and noticed the paint scratches as well. I've had the overheat alarm activate a couple of times on the Connext screen, but there is a button the bottom part of the screen that you can mute it. The three issues I've noticed are the cruiser seats coming apart on both of my ski's right at the seams. Yamaha is replacing them under warranty, but have to wait 4+ months to get them. The ride plate makes the nose of the ski point downward (not sure how many degrees) so it can slow the ski down, which makes it difficult to ride in rough water. Last, is the water intrusion inside the hull. It could be coming from the poor quality seals that they used installing the transom, but still investigating. Considering on selling these for the 25 Kawasaki 310, otherwise may need to install Riva ride plates etc to point the nose back up. I didn't have any issues with my 2018 FX's but those were a previous generation.

I have a limited fx I don't have any of those issues but the only issue I have is the little tiny call speaker on a call the other person can barely hear me.

  • @brockb4452

5= (handle bars) disagree. they're fine.
4= (speakers) agree, but not a big deal
3= (connect controls) agree, but not a big deal
2= (seat) barely agree. its fine. not worth mentioning. I never notice it.
1= (hull painting) agree. you have to baby it- should be a bit more durable.
conclusion: only point 1 actually affects how I enjoy it. I have to be gentle as hell pulling up to docks too. Everything else mentioned is sorta a non factor or tiny inconvenience, unless you are an upgrade junkie. overall, the FX is awesome, especially when it comes to stability compared to all its other models. these minor improvements will continue to be addressed with 25+ models hopefully

Great video man. I think the only solution to the painted hull is super slick or gator glide. It's on my list.

I have this exact model and here are the two things I hate:
First - the gas gauge is wildly inaccurate. It will say I am almost empty and the alarm will go off but in fact I still have a third of a tank left. There are actually two gauges, the one on the home screen is the bad one. If you go to the trip data page it shows fuel used and this one is always dead-on accurate. I always reset this to zero whenever I fill the tank so that I can see how much gas I really have. But it would be a lot more convenient if the gauge on the home screen could use the same data and show the fuel level accurately. I had this same problem with my 2021 FX HO and had heard it was fixed on the 2024 model, but it is not.
Second - when I am filling up at the gas pump the gas overflows if I fill at regular speed. I can't squeeze the trigger on the gas pump all the way, need to fill more slowly. Then when I still have a couple of gallons to go the filler tube fills up and (usually) stops the pump. I have to wait for it to go down, fill some more, wait, etc. until I have filled the tank. Do you have this same problem? It seems like there should be some kind of vent on the gas tank to let air out so the fuel can go in more quickly and all the way to the top. This was not a problem on my 2021 FX.
