There is a massive contrast between watching Ipswich for 17 consecutive years in the second tier to now. The excitement you get will never be matched
As league in terms of competitively, the championship is the best in the world no questions. Also no VAR!
National league is more competitive
The irony of Andy Goldstein asking this when all he ever wants to talk about is man United
Yep, makes a change for him to talk nonsense about another topic.
He’s an absolute w⚓️
Complete an utter ideal punchbag
The championship is one of the best supported leagues in Europe.
Can't wait for us (Forest) to be back in the Championship. No VAR, no hype, kick off at 3pm on Saturday afternoon, reasonable ticket prices etc etc
As a Leeds fan i enjoy the Championship much more to the point i will not be disapointed if we dont get up.
But we never play on a saturday afternoon, the channel is called skysportsLeeds for a reason.
Leeds fan here. Loving the championship. Much better than the last two years in the prem.
Cuz the town is back innit
@@Ezsy1996which town and why would it matter to a Leeds fan
As a Southampton fan I am absolutely loving this season. 70 points from 35 games. It’s the most fun I’ve had watching saints since we were fighting for European places 🔴⚪️🔴⚪️
The Championship is insane those, it shows just how deep the quality of football goes in this country.
I started watching Spurs in 78 so as you can see I’ve watched without VAR for a long time and I’d get rid of it immediately.COYS.
I couldn't agree more. As a Nottingham Forest supporter I cannot wait to get back down to the Championship, where the football is infinitely more 'honest', much more enjoyable and the fixture list is not constantly changed almost every week from that originally published. FAR preferred life in the Championship.
As a Forest supporter the last thing I want is to go down *shrugs 23 bloody years!!
I’m a championship fan who’s had goals incorrectly ruled offside this season, blatant penalties not given… there’s still no chance I’d want VAR in the championship. Our officiating is so much better than the Premier League
Hull scored a handball goal against us last night, & I am still glad we don't have var.
Horrible at the time but you soon forget it. It’s not talked about for weeks down the line. It’s just a part of the jeopardy we accept and then once it’s done, complains about for 24 hours, we then have a clear head to get excited for the next game
@@JP-es1nb 100% agree. The argument of “yeah but we get more decisions right” makes it seem like it’s objectively better, but it isn’t. The decisions it gets wrong are WAY MORE painful to take! The fact we can celebrate goals in real time adds SO MUCH to the experience of watching a game.
I question how Goldstein is allowed to present a radio show night after night.
Ah he’s golden. Loves rattling cages and looks like you’ve been rattled. Job done as far as he is concerned
@@BridgeStamford You love him ❤
He should be Man Utd Radio as that’s all he knows!
@@mark6809mmAgree, he is a Man U fanboy, nothing more.
🎣 🎣 all made possible by people like you
No VAR. that’s why it great!
Luton fan, glad we are in the prem, but the championship is a more competitive league. Everyone beats everyone
Think how much better it will be next year when Portsmouth Bolton Derby get promoted. Rotherham arent big enough to compete at this level so should be even more competitive
The best thing about not having VAR, is we don’t have the constant talking about decisions for weeks after the game has been decided. Yes it’s horrible at the time but we carry on. We will see a replay when we get home, we have a moan for a few hours but then it’s done. We only watch it once. We accept the jeopardy and then move on to the next game. Our minds are clear to be excited for the next game. We don’t need to drag this out for days, weeks, months because it can’t and won’t be changed. There’s no “what if” moment. We just forget it. We go again exactly how it was before it happened.
VAR is not the reason why. It’s because every season 18 from 24 teams could go up. This season has set records for top4 have there points at 36 games
Prob one of the best season's ever in the champ
I like the Championship, it reminds me of the old First Division. The problem with the Premier League for most teams and supporters it's 9 months of stress and worry because once you get there you have to stay.
There’s a continual sense of desperation and jeopardy with the Championship to get to the PL holy land. Plus no VAR. Good mix. Too many teams seem to get too comfortable and content to just stay in the PL with no ambition.
Luton are loving. You are totally right
If you’re watching Man Utd on -2 goal difference all year, I’d imagine the 3rd Austrian league is more entertaining than the premiership
as a southampton fan the past few years in the premier league has been depressing so having this season in the championship is a nice change because we’re winning more and would be in the autos in any other season, we really picked the wrong season to get relegated because if we don’t get promoted via the play offs then i fear we’ll be stuck in this league for a while and our squad will gradually get worse. ideally would only take championship football if it means we go up because i dream of southampton playing european football again. the championship is more even than the premier league which makes it more exciting
@@matthewmulholland1797 yeah i know, very unexpected. thankfully nobody was hurt, the fire continued into the evening so was rightfully called off. ash is supposedly on the field too which isn’t good.
Bet he hasn't watched a game in the championship lol
He wouldn’t say that if Man U were still winning Titles
Why not?
He would because he gets paid to say stupid things.
I’m a sheff utd fan and I honestly can’t wait to be back in championship, I agree that it’s a much better league with no var, plus more games and more excitement in my opinion
@@matthewmulholland1797 ahhaha mate I completely agree with you, if they did decide to bring var to champ then god help the EFL is all I can say
@@matthewmulholland1797 oh yeah another I agree with you on mate, seems to be the norm nowadays
clickbait title. he didnt even say that
2nd toughest league in the world
No it is the toughest. It's grueling.
Cracking games last nite @ Ipswich & tonite @ QPR
And yet the championship teams are getting thrashed in EPL. Its easy to be competitive in a smaller division.
The EFL has failed to uphold the Championship as a meritocracy. Relegated Prem teams have such a great advantage with parachute payments and fairplay rules. Ipswich are a fluke as were Luton. Burnley bought 25 players last summer for their Championship campaign and they are a biannual yo yo team that can't be budged from a top 2 place in the Championship and they wont be budged next year who ever is in charge. Fairplay rules should be higher for teams who dont get parachute payments. The gap is getting harder for teams who never got to the Prem.
He's right. Of course that doesn't matter with the money obsessed, fame and style loving media who only have eyes for the premier league - just look how far you have to look in the daily wail before you come across any championship news.
The championship has always been more enjoyable to watch. Just need to get rid of parachute payments to make it a fairer!
100% I watched a Game tonigjt..West Brom v QPR and No crappy VAR and it was great..How Footy should be..regardless of the shite handball..Thats FOOTBALL 👏👏👏
Burnley bossed the championship....and are doing great
If you have a look at the top four this season not one team was in the championship last season even Ipswich drew with Burnley in the fa cup last year
Of course it's more exciting than the Premier League, I support a club that has played several years in both and the Championship is way, way more exciting, more competitive and better as a specticle and that's not just because of no VAR but it helps.
I do think the champ throws into light the value and neg impact vs positive outcome to the game of VAR. I’d get rid.
Way more fun in the championship
Can Talksport not replace Goldstein? The man is a Man Utd fanboy who wants to talk about nothing else other than bang on about his average team and keeps harking back to Fergie days as though they were just yesterday, the man cannot accept Utds Golden era has gone.
What are you on about. He's a natural presenter. He's brilliant on the radio.
Championship mental !
Elite sport is cold and calculated. Lower league sport is simply more rewarding and emotional.
It is. Has been for a few years
It is definitely
VAR or no VAR Championship is generally more exciting anyone can beat anyone no guaranteed champions like Man city etc and the playoffs adding the spice at the end it's anyone's game. Not to mention the atmosphere is a lot better than the flashy prem stadiums which are mostly filled with tourists now. Much rather watch this than the boring predictability of the premier league. And I can say this as a fan of an EFL club.
Want to guarantee entertainment, watch an Ipswich home game. Goal fest after goal fest.
Or an arsenal away game
What? Even the portuguese 2nd division has VAR! xD
I watched Sunderland vs Leicester instead of the champions league games, and I support a prem team
unlucky. that game was dreadful lol
Bad choice😂
@@BridgeStamford I watched to mainly laugh at Sunderland
Do the struggling teams love the Premiership more than the Championship? It’s a bittersweet thing - when you’re in the Championship all you want is the Premiership, but a lot of that is the money in the Premier League, because honestly the Championship is more fun. Only Rotherham are having a miserable season. All the other teams, even those in the relegation scrap have won enough games that there are plenty of highlights to reflect on this season. Burnley and Sheff Utd, struggling to scrape the odd draw here and there, never mind a win, can’t say the same.
As a Leeds fan, last season in the PL was a long, hard slog with little joy. This season, even before the 11 wins in 12 games, was pure enjoyment, completely without the angst that came with every game in the Premier League.
Do you think that the EPL and the Championship should look at introducing an EPL2. So EPL 1 and an EPL2. 18 teams in each. Still have playoff to go into the EPL1 and the same from the Championship. Maybe reduce the promotion and relegation to 1 team, maybe 2.
Goldstein is a helmet…simple as that!
it’s more exciting than watching man u😂😂😂
Been Leeds since 72 we r smashing the championship and will be wiser and stronger when we go up as premiership is a three tier system no one is going to dislodge Liverpool Man City & arsenal but having said that I don’t mind staying in championship as one of the big boys no var no egos - loads of games - premiership is gettin like the Scottish rangers Celtic dynamic and over paid over exposed step before European league - fa cup is like the league cup - conference league isn’t like the cup winners cup & chanpions league isn’t European cup cuz u cud finish 4th in your league and win it @ 5 subs a joke ….maybe I’m a dinasour at the age of 60 and would rather read shoot and watch star soccer instead of listening to players like Jermaine jenas or Jobi McNuff or Stephen Warnock - no disrespect but not in the same league as Alan Hansen Gary linekar etc footy wise
The authorities are making top level football like PlayStation football, there are still parts of the game where it's down to interpretation, ( grey areas) and this doesn't fit in with the way they want the game.
Hes just getting prepared for when man utd get relegated then he'll be in a league he loves 😂
These clowns on TSport dont really care about the championship if its in their narrative for the day they will reduce themselves and try and be experts on it. My view as a fan who has a team in it, too many games too close together, football is quite bland and repetitive , half full stadiums at times ( re point 1). Does not need play offs at the end....everyone is knackered and had enough ...
No it’s because most of the teams are closely matched not having the small top teams beating the teams who get promoted to he league
Oh dear.. yanited not doing so well mate?
Please for the love of god replace Andy Goldstein he has been asking stupid questions since 2004 all through his career he's terrible.
Totally agree, he is just a Man U fanboy who somehow stumbled into presenting
who is better him or goldbridge?@@PerfectMask1
Agree. He could get away with his cluelessness and puerlity on the Sports Bar but he's way out of his depth on Prime Time radio.
Of course he does as that's utds level 😂
It's like 3 point between the top 3 ffs
Better fans , more banter , no var the premier league should be sponsored by a comic due like morecombe an wise as its become a sketch show
Var means refs dont ref
Championship refs make the mistakes and carry on being the ref
Ffp makes promotion from the championship a select group
Love the championship thrillsnspills every week, as Leeds fan better buzz than the prem.
Goldstein hasn’t watched the championship in years btw
I think it’s because the Premier League has become simply all about the money. If you get promoted these days from the Championship you have next to no chance of winning the Premier League because of the ‘so called’ sustainable clubs like Man City who have nation states and their reserves behind them.
He needs to realise the premiership is not the only league in the world .open your mind ,some off the best football is played in the lower leagues
Watching Man U is just like watching the championship 😮
No way. If anything the championship is more exciting than the SPL. More interesting matchups actually if it merged with the SPL.
Most exciting league in world football
Don’t forget Goldstein 3 nil is worse than a 7 nil 😂
😂
Its more even thats the difference the premier league is a closed shop
Nothing to do with var. The championship is amazing this year! If it wasnt for how close the prem title is this year the relegation fight in the championship is the most interesting thing going on in English football right now. Its going to take 50 points to even stay in the division! And its the closest relegation fight in the leagues history.
Theres 4 points between second bottom and 15th right now with 10 games to go. And everyone is throwing everything but the kitchen sink to stay in the division.
It’s more exciting to him not because of VAR but because the team he supports is god awful and all three of that teams rivals are the ones competing for the title . Tough days for united supporters , long may it continue
Championship should be called premier league2 in my opinion
Maybe if you are a Manchester united fan
Top 6 up in championship to PL... Bottom 6 down from PL... Tony cuenca
Ipswich will end up in the play offs
Var at Ipswich town god
Goldstein is 100% correct. Its also alot less corrupt
He’s just bored of watching his beloved Manchester United , can’t say I blame him . Watching my granny sew is more exciting
No it dont get credit because you always bang on about man utd / man city or liverpool
This guy is mad
The prem has never been as competitive.
Because man utd aren't challenging.
The reason is that theyre all bankrupting themselves.
yeah its not very exciting waiting around for some ridiculous decision and constantly wondering what they're gonna pull next, it alot more frustrating and annoying.
Its tedious and boring talking about refs instead of FOOTBALL, constantly pointing out the obvious. Get rid of the failed experiment THIS INSTANT!!!
English fans love to mock Ligue 1 and Bundesliga for being "farmers leagues" but, let's be honest, the Premier League is a farmers league in it's own right. throughout the 90's and early 00's it was Man United with Arsenal and Chelsea here and there, and through out the 2010's and 20's it's been Man City
If var is there , leeds would've been 4th
Leicester 12pnts clear
Pretty sure there’s a few questionable pens that Leicester have they wouldn’t if var was there, and pens against them.
Deluded
Championship is definitely more entertaining if you're a united fan😂
The ONLY thing keeping the Championship from being widely held as an amazing and highly competitive league is the lack of international broadcasting
yea sure the ONLY thing
I would be whole heartedly surprised if the amount of decisions that were wrong WITH VAR (prem) were more than WITHOUT VAR (champ etc.).
We’ve got to stick with VAR, it’s a constant work in progress and we’ve got to use Rugby as a fantastic example of how technological assistance works so effectively.
As a PNE supporter who’s seen the sheer amount of decisions gone against us, this season especially, without technological help - we need it!
Go, check then and be surprised.
Unpopular opinion… I like the suspense var brings…
What the corruption
Go and watch poirot then - you're clearly not a fan of football.
Me too
@@gaiustesla9324 😆😆I am a fan. There’s video replay in a ton of other sports I’m used to it.
Saints never get any respect even when we were in the Premiership
Because you'll forever be in pompey's shadow 😉
You don't even get it in the championship
I detest the premier league hopefully Leeds don’t go up to be part of it
He is so embarrassing its definitely scripted.
These guys talking about the championship like it’s some foreign virtually unknown league. It’s probably the most competitive league in the world, definitely the most competitive and well supported second tier in the world.
Andy doing a little foreshadowing here.
United to be the most exciting team in the championship within the next few seasons?
No one really cares about the lesser leagues & the lesser clubs apart from the odd ones
Apart from the supporters that fill most stadiums week after week 🙄
@@stoneagepig3768 yeah quaint
Without the lesser leagues and lesser clubs there would be no premier league
The championship is the 4th most attended league in Europe.
It’s huge.
@@olliem40 yeah it’s good for the masses 👍
Based on the stats the championship is exciting. But the level of football is so dull to watch compared to the Premiership
The Championship is exciting but the amount of debt clubs accumulate is very worrying.
