You did a really good job Matthew.
Is he a Filipino?
@@emricquito5107 He is a great designer.
you guys are really SHARING Quality Knowledge here , This is the best channel I'm following yet
Thanks! Matthew puts a lot of work into this videos.
I could listen to the futur all day longđđ
I love how you mentioned design clarity. Clients don't realize that designers aren't psychic. A subjective term doesn't tell us exactly what you're looking for. Amazing video!
Most people dont know or understand or feel, how useful this video is, because they have no experience in getting an order for work. What i would love to see you talk about next is the essential things you need to kick start as a graphic designer.
For example, do you need to sub or use any pages, like pinterest or artstation, or places where you can sell stuff like deviantart or even better ones. Things you need to buy, like a camera (and what sort of camera) or anything you can think of that is an essential to a decent graphic designer, but is not mentioned usually.
watch our episode on starting a design business from zero, blind year one and social media videos.
The level of quality in these videos is always top notch!
Pretty happy to have Matthew speaking, all of you comrades @TheFutur are awesome.
i really liked the content! Its so good to see the things that somebody might assume pulled together and make it into a specific guideline. I definatly can agree with all steps that you said and gonna start to consider more if this guided form, for some other pitches and clients kickoffs, too. Thx for that!
Thatâs awesome that you mentioned examples most videos tell you what to do but never show examples.
Great content - very helpful! I recently went through the pitch process with my new boss and team members, as I pitched a couple web designs for an internal site. My current role is not a web designer (working on that đ), but for now I'm the only member of my team who has the skill. Before pitching the designs, I instinctively used your overall methodology. However, I wasn't nearly as refined in my approach. Honestly, I wouldn't even say I was as strategic...I kind of just went with the "flow", so to speak. BUT thanks to your tips, I certainly will be more focused going forward. Thanks so much!
You guys are sharing so much value for free, it's super appreciated and admirable. It literally has made me inquire about some of your paid courses, which I'm sure is your guy's goal. Amazing job to the whole crew at TFA
Appreciate it Abraham
Great job! Clear and concise. Thank you, Matthew.
Hey this was a really great overview! I really enjoy your calm, metered diction; i wish more people on CZcams spoke like you do! (subbed)
Matt has a very calm way of explaining things.
I made the mistake on my first contract job of not asking enough questions and interpreting what I thought they wanted, ended up eating most of the costs of the job, since then I ask and listen, ask and listen, until I feel I have a solid understanding of exactly what they're looking for.
The man! This is so helpful thank you!
This is legend... Love the Futur team!! â€ïž
Thank you for the Valuable updates and videos. liked and subscribed.
Best guide, super learning happening here.. keep on guys.. u all r the best..
This is so helpful, thankyou Matthew đ
I love this series! Keep em coming
Great content as always. This information is highly useful.
Thanks for sharing these "3 Things..." It's a life saver
Point 3 is so helpful to me. I get into conflict with my boss on occasion because he gives me contradictory direction because of coded words. I should get him to narrow it down.
Another good and quick video. A couple of questions and looking for your advise on certain situations I've come across, if you guys don't mind :)
1. Defining the goal:
What happens when you have 3 different decision makers (my boss, the client, etc) and they each have a different interpretations of what the goal is?
Another problem I've faced is that when asking what is the main goal, I get "Well, we have a lot of different goals, can you come up with comps for Goal A, Goal B, and Goal C?" I feel as if they are looking at our Marketing Department as though as we should have some goals in our back pocket.
We have also come across this issue. We have defined the Goal A, but client, in my opinion, is afraid of leaving out Goal B, C, D and E, and the final result is a watered down version of Goal A. Has this ever happened to you guys?
2. Who is Your Target Audience?
What happens when the client says that "Everyone is the target audience?" We have a variety of "target audiences" (I work at a University) and we have students, faculty, alumni, and staff, and sometimes we cater towards the less priority audience for fear that we will lose them or make them feel excluded.
I guess the overlying concern for me is how do you handle "fear" in terms of decision making? Fear that we are excluding one demographic vs another, or fear of filling up a poster with lots of messages as opposed to just one, for fear that people will complain or clients' suggesting that we absolutely NEED certain information?
Looking forward to more videos!
_Cesar
Thank you for the valuable information! đđ
This is awesome information. I can incorporate this into my web design process. Great job!!
sweet
I found this on the medium article on this topic and I just laughed for some good ten minutes đ â...Play 20 questions, ask your girlfriend what she wants to eat, or ask your boyfriend to share his feelings. If you can get an answer for those last two, then you can get anything out of your clients.â
It's the perfect pitch, on pitching! :)
Mathew, amazing video this has helped a ton. I have one question, what would be an example 1 sentence for a logo? Like "This logo will define the identity our client wants in the most simple and memorable way?" Still seems too broad...curious what you think!
Thanks!
Thank you for this tips Matthew! it's very valuable for me. Can you tell do you work with brief (paper of online) and do you ask about some reference clients(to show what do they like)?
Very clear, concise advice. Great! Thank you.
that's Matt!
Very helpful video thank you Matthew!
:)
we agree.
Thanks so much!
Super Info!
Thank you so much!
Thanks for the great content. I have a question, when you suggest pitching, what do you mean by pitching here. Let's take your example of a client looking for a video. Am I getting this information to create a pitch deck of concepts / my direction which I would present to them in my next meeting or would you actually do some work an show this in the pitch meeting ?
Keep em coming
I think this is also very valuable in graphic design.
Great job.
I always do these!
Thanks for the great knowledge shared. I am grateful... liked and subscribed đ
Samson Muthomi yes!!
awesome!!
Thanks for the insight Mathew. Thefutur are made up of best blend, I see now.
We have a pretty good team and growing every day. I hope soon we will be able to create content full time. But we need to hit 200k subs or something like that before sponsors will take us seriously.
Good content as usual
Thanks Eddy.
You did great thing by sharing idea of pitching
I always share your good stuff to my students.. really helps!! Terima kasih..!!
From Indonesia?
I am just wowed by your process of seeking...n delivering. But how i get more understanding on your process as i don't use the tweeters...
Awesome video ! :)
This channel is so amazing and helpful for designers. Wish i stumbled alot earlier over this :O
glad you are here now.
So amazing content here! Can you plz please tell me the Music tune at the End of video - the link is not mention properly in description
I know that someone already mentioned this in the comments, and the only reason I'm mentioning it is because this seems to be a habit in the production, but the music is too loud for the voice. The music should be ducked under the voice levels. I only mention this in love. Keep up the good work. đ
This video is GOLD!
Thanks Jimmy. What year are you in school by the way? How has hosting your show impacted what you do?
I'm a senior in a 5 year industrial design program at CSULB. Incredible school, highly recommend for anyone looking to go the public school route. At first, I didn't expect my youtube channel would effect me much, but I have realized how much better my speaking and explaining skills have become. Being able to explain things clearly is not only an essential skill, but it's also a huge confidence booster!
there are many upsides with few downsides. so keep it up. one thing you should do is watch our episodes w/ roberto blake. he has great tips on how to increase viewership.
we've used his tips and the've boosted our views.
Oh you can bet i've seen those already. Roberto Blake is the man! Anyone wanting to grow their channel should definitely check those videos out. Keep up the great tips coming guys!
Hey Matt! Thanks a lot, it didn't come easy thats for sure. I just sub'ed to your channel. Are you planning on posting videos there as well?
Great informative information!
sweet. thanks.
The Future deserves 10M or more subscribers
thank you.
Your videos are as addictive as potato chips - cannot just watch one at a time! One thing on this one though ⊠those cars zipping by through background window are as distracting as f*k. Other than that - thank you Matthew, Chris, et. al. for filling in so many blanks. You guys are amazing.
we will block them out next time Tom. you can always just listen to us if it's too distracting. better than potato chips cause you won't get a spare tire. ;)
Excellent
Brilliant
Do you guys have an actual creative brief template, maybe a PDF, you use that you send to a client or bring with you to a kick-off meeting?
Hey superb tutorials and the best part is, its inspiring. Just wanted your reply regarding packaging design. Which 3 things should i keep in mind before packaging speakers of a company.?
can you rephrase your question? I'm not sure I understand.
this was really informative and clear. but maybe im too stoned but i couldn't ignore the mic picking up all the saliva sounds lol. no biggie. thanks regardless
good tips
Cool really like that very informal.
Thanks patrick.
thanx
Can you give examples of fiew pitches. A video would be great!!
Not every client knows what they want... I had a client tell me once, "I'll know what it is when I see it but I can't describe it."... What would you do in that situation?
Let them know that it sounds that they would need lot of exploration which is going to possibly result in a lot of revisions and thus taking more time which increases price.
How to have better workflow from content to the final graphic?
Amazing info! Many thanks!.
you're welcome. #PItchKit is going to help a lot of people.
Already tweeted to @matthewencina about our pain points!. Looking forward to be a beta tester! #ThePitchDeck
Thank you very much! I am going to build my own pitch kit as you hope to have chance to share with you.
Phung Viet Linh would love to see it.
this may be helpful for me. I'm working on an art exhibition about traveling my city. this will apply to many of my pieces... thanks
Then you should definitely get on the beta list.
hmmmm I'lll go for it ;) I'm not sure my responses will really apply from the same perspective but it could be helpful...Thanks ;)
ok done!!!
I've been pitching teaching gigs and art workshops for 3 years. If you count internships maybe closer to 7 years but they have changed over time...
I struggle with organization problems and narrowing things down to one concise idea.
We all struggle with focus. That's why this kit will really help you.
What is the meaning of the pitch? is it help me design a logo before designing anything?or is that for motion graphic only?
The music is too predominant to the voice.
â _Vizualize_â noted.
Only at the beginning, though.
What is a pitch in this context?
quite sad that cant afford to buy pitch kit.. but thank you for the video
: (. Someday?
I guess, when I become rich I won't need it anymore! ) Just kidding
Hi Matthew. Great tutorial :) Unfortunately some of the links does not work :/ hope it get fixed :D
we'll work on that.
Our company lost a pitch despite the client loving it, and we actually won the year before only because somebody came at the last minute offering like 60% off on the fee. That was heartbreaking lol.
How can I get the pitch kit now?
Is this giveaway still going on? I need to get the pitch kit like desperate. I am a rookie with pitching and jobless so I cant afford it :(
no. but you could wait til black friday.
can you show us a video,(referring to myself because am a newbie) on how to start making a story board.
Good request. I think we can do something on that.
both :D
u saved my career. shoulder please. to cry on :p
awwww. I'll bring a box of tissues.
The Futur hahahah thankss
awesome vid!
Well I'm actually a newbie in web design and I think there's a similarity in the process. So my question is what do you do if the client doesn't like the design? Do I have to convince them? or should I present them multiple presentations on how the final work would look like?
Btw Thanks for the reply Mat you and everyone from the Skool and Blind are really amazing and a real inspiration
Ooohhh Thanks for the advice Mat!! That really does make sense.
great video!
Hi, can someone tell me what means " pitch " in this context?
To present an idea to win work
Captain Philippines!
Where do you want the questions answered? Here? 1. 3 years (last two years of high school and freshman year of college) 2. My pain point is finding the right time to bring up cost and what to do when they want me to guarantee results of the ad campaign. None of the ad companies I have ever worked for guarantee an increase in sales so why would a college student need to?
Dude i miss chris so much now
Great video as always btw, is he mexican? IÂŽm from LA too.
Filipino.
Not being able to view the double exposure tut in mograph
Stash Man it's locked for now.
The Skool Network hope to find it unlocked some days later then, that's was a good video
we hope to get it back online soon. otherwise, matthew will make another one with materials safe for broadcasting.
All examples are about videos and teasers. What if a client wants a logo? For example, client goal: wants his logo to reflect his business and be above competition. What do I need to solve? Well, the logo... What stands in the way of accomplishing the task? The client. Why? Because the client doesn't know what he wants, doesn't put any effort in determining his preferences and also gets annoyed cause you can't design something he can't even imagine and so you get stuck in revision hell. What he said he liked yesterday doesn't apply today and its a never-ending circle...
Are those Yuki 7 posters I spy?
Me too, regret not getting more of the Fleet Street Stuff way back.
no sound ?
Sad I've already read the article on medium :(
Now you can watch it as well.

HOW TO CREATE AWARD WINNING IDIAS?
Great and very valuable insight. I'd be honored to join beta test group. lookout for @leviwanyoike
I feel like Iâm late to the party.
why?
When someone says giveaway about 1.5 years from now))
I'm late.
Sounds like an ASMR video with them lip smacking.
I don't know why but I'm under the impression that something's going on with this guy. I can't even concentrate on what he's saying.
Not for nothing mad info in here ... but is it just me or you can hear his lips cracking đ€đ
