  • Allow me to introduce you to Garden City Sanitation's latest acquisitions!
The order came in around April of 2021 to begin manufacturing these Labrie Automizers to replace the aging WX64 Automizers that Garden City Sanitation had become infamous for. A handful arrived at Coast Counties Peterbilt for specification edits and decaling during the summer. They began to replace the older trucks around October, alongside a couple of Labrie Dual Helping Hand Expert 2000s. For the most part, these trucks are being rolled out by seniority, with the most senior drivers getting ahold of the new trucks first. There wasn't a mass single fleet replacement, and as of December 2021, new trucks are still arriving at Coast Counties Peterbilt.
Here we have Lorenzo in #106 presumably in his first week in the truck. Followed by that is my driver in #108 on its' first and second week on route. Finally, we have Mario on an open route running #110. I should mention that they ditched the #5---/#6--/#7-- numbering system and are now just numbering the truck after the route it's assigned to. Previously #5-- was reserved for the short tailgate Automizers, #6-- was reserved for the bubble tailgate + tag axle Automizers, and #700 was reserved for the diesel WXLL Expert 2000s.
The funky thing about these, aside from being ordered without a curbside hopper access door, is that they have all been intentionally slowed down for the city's dumbass mandate of keeping lids closed to "improve customer service". I also believe it's because the mechanics are tired of the drivers abusing their trucks lol. I was also shown that in neutral, attempting to give the truck gas while the arm is in motion will do absolutely nothing. The arm will remain in motion, but pressing on the gas & brake pedal at the same time won't make the truck rev. That bit is most infuriating and interesting since I know Labries are quite capable of being revved up to high RPMs without the arm stopping.
Other than the gripes mentioned above, I really like these trucks. I'm guessing as time goes on, some things on these trucks will be tweaked to make the drivers be able to operate faster since as of now they operate at idle.
Special thank you to Lorenzo, Juan and Mario for allowing me to film!
    Enjoy the video!

These trucks are nice. The lack of a curbside hopper door is a strange one. I drive a split body Automizer myself and recently they had to weld my hopper door shut because the door was so rotted that every time I dumped a recycling cart, it would cause my packer to stall because the sensor on the door would move, but sucks I can't open it now to pull stuff out. As for the arms, since they are new they might break-in a bit and speed up which is normal, but I find it odd how the arm slows down as the cart is going into the hopper. It does sound like the city ordered it with the hydraulics tuned down for both wear and tear and to help keep the lids shut.

The bolted panel ILO hopper door is actually an optional item, for the exact reason you are citing.
The arm cushions are a standard feature built into the hydraulic cylinders

@@mitchellwhite5175 I recently got a new truck and on cold days the arm is wicked slow because of the arm cushings, yet when it is warm out it flips lids no problem.

Beautiful trucks although it means the end of the Autocar era. There nice and smooth now but just wait till they get a couple more miles in. You guys seem to be getting your Peterbilts on time, Fresno recently demoed a Mack LR and are considering a switch because of how many orders Peterbilt owes us. Currently they are backlogged 2 years for us. How quiet are these things? Nice video!

How would I go about getting a job with aci ? I currently work for a different garbage company and looking for a change. Is it really hard to get in ?

with the remaining pellegrini companies (ACI, MTWS, etc.), I heard they treat their employees very well as it's family owned by the pellegrini family. their equipment is always up to date and in working order. as far as acceptance I'm not sure, go to the office and ask if they're hiring and ask for a job application
the former pellegrini companies that they sold off to waste connections (GCS, MS, LS) I've heard of the new waste connections supervisors not honoring their CBAs and are obviously now subject to waste connections rules and regulations, though they also pay relatively well and all just received brand new equipment as the companies were being sold off
