John Forgerty is an absolute legend. This isn't his song, but he has written some of the best songs 🔥👍🏼
No offense to Marvin, but this is my fave cover of this song! BTW - this is the short version of this song. The longer version is 11 mins of bliss! ♥
Oh yeah, the long version is where it's at, just turns into a killer jam session 🙂
The only way to listen, is the long version.
Or to Gladys Knight & The Pips!
bliss is definitely the word. It was like jam session for them.
Released in 1971 Like me some 70s
I'm so glad there was no such thing as auto tune back then.
Singers back then didn't need it.
@@lisamccue1730 Perfect reply!
Another CCR banger is, "I Put a Spell On You". And we cant forget, "Long As I Can See the Light". ❤️😎
...and my own favourite 'Have You Ever Seen The Rain'. One of the greatest bands of the '60's and '70's.
Long As I Can See The Light may be the best song ever that hardly anybody seems to know. Unbelievable vocal by John Fogerty, and his sax playing is amazing, especially since he’s not a sax player.
@@jeffstevens4262 In 1969 the number one band in the US and Canada was CCR.
@@johnunderwood-hp8rj ...and over here in the UK, I'm sure.
@@jeffstevens4262 Probably.
when you use instruments to make music it has a real feel and that feeling is carried over to the singer as well and makes them have more feelings in it as well
Interesting facts: The song was written by Norm Whitfield ( your my everything-the Temptations) and Barry Strong (Just my imaginations, and Papa was a Rolling stone). It was actually first recorded by Smokie Robinson, but after recording it, they were slow releasing it. This delay allowed Gladys Knight to become the first artist to release this song to the public.
Barrett Strong also wrote and performed the rock and roll/rhythm and blues classic MONEY.
I have a picture of my dad with that exact same haircut that John Fogerty (lead singer) had 🤣🤣 he's the reason I love CCR so much to this day ❤️
Absolutely one of my favorite bands of all time. John Fogerty's voice is just too damn good. !!! CCR has so many GREAT songs ...I don't know how many y'all have reacted to but they are some of the best. John Fogerty had a career after CCR...His song "Centerfield" is another one you gotta check out, there is a baseball player video that accompanies the song that adds to it too.
Without a doubt the best version of this song.
The guitar solo is cut short in this video. There is a longer version worth hearing. You'll enjoy it.
Yeah, they werejust getting started!!!!
these guys had 40 top 10 hits in a 5yr period-unreal
Listen to the long version, longer guitar solo. You will love it! Anything from CCR is great. Bad Moon Rising, Who'll Stop The Rain, I Put a Spell on You and many more. John Fogerty's voice is so awesome!
Thanks, guys!
This isn't CCRs song but they have made it theirs. No they didn't write it,but their rendition of it is by far in my opinion the most memorable!
He is an underrated singer and guitar player in my opinion.
creedence was very big in the early 70s.
@@elkalabaw7665 yeah they were, and I rarely hear people talking about what a great singer he is. I think he's great.
Underrated? He’s literally in the Grammy hall of fame 🤦♂️
Do you not understand the meaning of the word “underrated”???
Mine to
🔥🔥🔥🔥LOVE THIS GROUP ! John's voice is so, to me , powerful and unique. Big rabbit hole with CCR and any one of the songs rock ! - Green River - Proud Mary - Run Through the Jungle - Bad Moon Rising - could go on and on but these you just have to hear at some point ❤
Another amazing song is "I Put a Spell On You"....that song is one of the best that CCR has given.
@@phimusic5351 OMG for sure !! They have so many but cannot believe I missed that one !!
@@angelado3 👍👍👍
CCR put out some great songs over the years. Fogarty's voice is a classic.
Anything CCR is a thumbs up!!!
Those are what you call musicians!
CCR was definitely one of the main Staples for all of us baby boomers...❤
Gotta do “I Put a Spell on You”. Killer vocals and guitar. THRIR HEAVIEST EVER. you will love it.
CCR are legends with a big ole’ rabbit hole full of fantastic music.
Here is a link to the full-length version of this song with the extended guitar solo: czcams.com/video/ixqofv-Oi74/video.html
Long as I can See the Light. Commotion. Traveling Band. Green River. Sweet Hitchhiker.
Great song
CCSR have so many iconic songs man, they had they own unique style on music, Fogerty voice always so powerfull
you should check out Proud Mary, Bad moon rising, Have you ever seen the rain, I put a spell on you, and plenty more
This doggone song hit no 1 THREE times...Once for Gladys Knight & the Pips, Then again for Marvin Gaye, and then for C.C.R. 3 years later...That's when u know it's fire (hell, I don't even know which version I like the most coz they're all badd-azz!) Reckless, how's about Gettin' your funk on with Mandrill's "Fencewalk" 2002 in Montreal? SMOKIN' performance!
CCR, "Proud Mary "
CCR has always been one of my favorites! 🖤
This is my personal fav version ,even though I respect the heck out of Marvin Gaye! (Definitely have my favs of his) There’s also an old school funkadelic version of this by Zapp and Roger. It was actually my first time hearing it. When I was young- 😁💃💃
Some people say, the originales are the best, hmmm.
It's a question of taste, i think.
Marvin Gay did good on this one, but i like the CCR one better.
John Fogarty is a phenomenal talent.
Can't say there is one CCR song that's no good.
So, thanks guys, great reaction.
👊👊😁❤from Holland
One of my favorite things is when you can her the lyrics in the music.
Endless great CCR jams 🔥🔥
Listen to the 10 minute jam version and your brain will melt. One of the 10 best songs all time.
i agree long version a masterpiece
When you hit that next CCR video consider "I Put a Spell on You" LIVE (Woodstock 1969). It'll take you to a place.
Fogarty is a beast for sure, this is another great song. You should check out their version of ( Proud Mary, written by John Fogarty, and a. Magnificent version of I put a spell on you...my opinion the absolute best version of an amazing song...Wow)
Enjoyed your reaction! My favorite of this song is Gladys Knight and the Pips singing this on Soul Train. Great vibe! You get the funky version of this song, the dancing, fashion styles of the very early seventies and LOTS of afros! It's awesome. Please react to it? Hope you have a blessed day!
she rocks it the most
Gladys' version was my first introduction to this song--on The Muppet Show. I can still picture the little bunches of puppet grapes singing backup. It's on CZcams too, if anyone wants to check it out. Super cute.
CCR formed after serving in Nam together. They sang on patrols in the bush hunting Charlie. One was shot by a clear water river & the medic brought him back to life. Hence their name.
Complete rubbish! Total fiction!
Meeting at Portola Junior High School in 1959 in El Cerrito, California, they formed a group called The Blue Velvets, changing their name to The Golliwogs in 1964, before adopting the CCR name in January 1968.
Their final name came from a combination of a friend's name, Credence Newball, with a line ("clear water") from a beer ad for the Olympia Brewing Company, with the Revival representing their new commitment to the band.
No member of the group ever fully served in the military (when two members were conscripted they joined the Army and Coast Guard Reserve respectively), let alone in the Vietnam war.
Many of their songs did become anthems for those who did serve in Vietnam though, but your story is complete and utter BS.
This version is why I didn't like CCR messing with a classic but then listening to the album version shows why they could take a classic and do it right. You need to revisit this song from Cosmos Factory.
Please check out the Gladys Knight and the Pips original and Marvin Gaye's cover. All three versions are great. This is one of those rare songs that great artists can bring their originality and style to without mangling it!
I believe that was the first cassette I bought CCR back in 1986
I’ve always loved CCR! They have so many great songs!
There is an extended version of this song with a more lengthy guitar solo that you gotta hear to appreciate. CCR has a ton of great songs try Fortunate Son.
Great, if edited cut of their version of the song I'd first heard by, and attributed to Marvin Gaye. Definitive to many, or on a par with Marvin's. It's a classic, no doubt.
Good to see you back to music with feeling and soul. Not too mention talent.
I watch other Reaction videos but yours I enjoy very much. You have an “ear” for music and I love how you react to songs that I grew up with. You’re doing great and I will continue to watch your reactions 😀
BRING SOME MORETHE DOORS PLEASE MAN!!!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE END, THE VIBES IN THAT SONG IT'S BASSICLY WHAT JIM MORRISON WAS ALL ABOUT
ALTHOUGHT BREAK ON THROUGH, FIVE TO ONE, ROADHOUSE BLUES PORTRAITS THE ENERGY THE DOORS WAS ALL ABOUT, BOTH GREAT SONGS, OF COURSE THERE ARE PLENTY OTHER GOOD SONGS, THEY HAD SO MANY STYLES.
GREAT VIDEO, GREAT SONGS LETS KEEP IT GOING!!
I’m 69. I grew up with this song, along with Steppenwolf, Three Dog Night and Rare Earth. It was a glorious time! Still listen to those great songs to this day. Music never gets old…only us people do. But we can still jam!👍😁✌️
I first heard this over 50 yrs ago! You know at the first note hit on that bass ur in for a ride! There are just SOO MANY to hear and all of them are great. Soo glad young ppl are finding the old stuff i grew up with. Still great after over 50 yrs says something about the music we had, imo! Enjoy guys. Good to see you again.. til the next time…. Dan north fl 6/06/22
Such a boss song. Nice minimalistic guitar solo.
This was the short radio version. Y’all should hear the original extended version. It’s probably about a 9 minute song.
Y'all crack me up! With some of your reactions I wonder why you're not chair dancing like I am. Then like with this one y'all are so excited!!! And when one says something the other disagrees with, 10 seconds later you realize you're in agreement just saying it differently! ☺
Love your channel!
Wen she smile, mins good músic playing!!!!!!
Have you ever seen the rain is one of my favorite by CCR. I love y'all reactions. You really try and get into the music.
I forgot HOW MUCH I liked this song 😊💜😊
This was a party song when I was in high school.. Also, CCR's version of Cotton Fields.
This song always reminds me of the California Raisins commerical which was a classic in the 80's. Y'all should check that commerical out, it's hilarious! "California Raisins, Heard it through the Grapevine" (Better quality).
CLASSIC SONG !!!!
The guy could write hit songs in his sleep!
CCR never misses , y'all would love Born in the Bayou.. a real banger
I “hoid it” you know it’s gonna be good 😁
Awesome Reaction ✌️
CCR (as they're referred as) has many, many, great songs!
Love seeing you love the classics ❤ ✌🇨🇦 I follow him on Facebook too.
How anyone can sit still when music like this comes on, is beyond me..lol....Get your groove on...
Long as I can see the light.. the night time is the right time
This s**t will put a smile on anyones face. Plain and simple.
You don't have to get better with your words. You do a great job of figuring songs out and saying what you feel, You're keepin it real and that is why I like coming here.
They have a couple to three songs like Green River that are kind of like diluting to the Vietnam war which everyone back in the baby boomer days was against... They do a good job I'm proud Mary too
The album version has an even longer instrumental and guitar solo in the middle. I like that version best.
Y'all have great reactions .
👋🏻♥️
Great reaction!
Awesome song and reaction so I've subbed!
There is like a 9 minute version out there where they really have a jam session.
This is at Woodstock, btw. After midnight
this was the radio play version.........still excellant
Since you liked this, you really need to listen to the 11 minute version, absolutely incredible!
Hey , argentina love creedence. AND love rock AND rollo
Another southern rock band that I don't think you've reacted to is Foghat. Slow Ride is probably their biggest hit, but I'd also recommend Fool for the City and their cover of I Just Want to Make Love to You(written by Willie Dixon and first recorded by Muddy Waters). The last one was covered many times. Etta James is one of the best of the covers, you should probably check out the original and/ or her cover.
Thanks!
Foghat is a great band for sure! But they’re from England.
It surprised me too 😆
This was written for Gladys Knight & the Pips whose recording was released in1967, Marvin Gaye also released a version that came out in 1968. Smokey Robinson and the Miracles were the first to record it in 1966 but their record wasn't released until 1968.
Should've listened to the long version. I don't even bother with the shorter version but the longer one is in my top 5 greatest songs ever.
FIRE!!!!!!!!!!
A Motown song covered by many of their artists, including Glady Knight, Marvin Gaye, amen. Notice this is a rock version of a Motown song (what's was the world coming too?, just kidding). A & A reacted to Vanilla Fudge's rock version of Motown's You Keep Me Hanging On recently. You loved the feel of this version, highly recommend you check out the CCR album version of Grapevine as an extended jam (a lot of people do). :)
The ccr Album version is 11 minutes. It just seems to go on forever.thanks
YOUR WORDS ARE JUST FINE BROTHER
You seriously need to keep going with Creeedence. You’ll freak at how good they are! 💕💕
creedence is probably the most underappreciated and underrated 60s band. they had hit after hit. including the standards "proud mary" and "fortunate son." the critics hated them but the public loved them. they appeared at woodstock too. (cut out of the film and the album though. as a few other bands were.) CCR invented country rock and they don't even get credit for that.
on the album "cosmos factory" (1970) this song was over 11 minutes long. with a wonderful, kick ass guitar solo that lasts about 8 minutes long. the record label shortened the song to about 3 1/2 minutes and released it as a single against the band's wishes.
CCR remains one of my favorite bands. side two of their album "bayou country" is one of the best album sides in r&r history.
I Put a Spell On You by CCR is a must do.
Youve got to give the long version a listen. Bliss!
Enjoyed your guy's reaction and you two are cute together❤
Peace
Run Through the Jungle
I love the original and this is my favorite cover...it would have been so cool if they could have had the chance to perform this with Marvin :)
Try listening to "I Put A Spell On You". Fogerty kills it.
John Fogarty and CCR created the genre - swamp rock. Absolutely legendary stuff.
Proud Mary..by them
I love how you’re both happy with yourselves when she says “outstanding.” I usually don’t watch reaction videos because I think it’s strange watching other people listen to music, but I like watching yours because of your youthful authenticity. CCR’s version was the first I heard Grapevine, but Marvin’s is best.
I think listening to reaction videos is more like listening to music along with someone else. Its often more fun. It's comforting. I live alone. I enjoy the company. If that's weird, so be it.
Also, i don't watch regular tv. I watch CZcams. I've seen thousands of reaction videos over years. I cant recall seeing anyone who i really thought was being inauthentic, yet i hear about all these reactors not being real. Im a seasoned RN. I know how to read people. I am excellent at reading body language and spotting fakery. I don't see them.
@@zoniekat 👊👍🔥💪
Take a shot everytime he say’s “know wha i’m sayin”.
You can think about it a lot with the long version
John Fogarty was about 20 or 21 when this was performed and he wrote most of the songs for the albums. The rest of the band screwed him later (including his brother Tom on the other guitar there) As far as I am concerned He was CCR. Check out his more recent live concerts here on the Tube and watch him with other great band members. He still cooked 40+ years later. He married a girl from Elkhart, Indiana. She convinced him to forget the past and play again .They were his songs anyway.
Another great voice and guitarist from the 70s and the live performance(The Midnight Special) video is called Elvin Bishop(guitarist)featuring Mickey Thomas singing lead and the song is 'I Fooled Around and Fell in Love'! Is a must listen and react to! Voice...... AMAZING! You will not be disappointed!
BTW...This video here with CCR is great and John Fogerty is also amazing, of course! Can't ever go wrong with CCR!
