“Heard It Through the Grapevine” was released in 1966. It was recorded by several artists as hits. Gladys Knight & the Pips(1967), Marvin Gaye(1968), Smokey Robinson & the Miracles(1966), and CCR who made an 11 minute version in 1970.

On her deathbed we had a discman CD player playing CCR’s greatest hits and she was tapping her finger along to the beat of these hits as she transitioned to her heavenly home. @@ABtheKreator Maybe react to the long version? Regardless, you should check it out, as it's a brilliant instrumental. The only other CCR tune that I know of that has a short version out there is "Born on the Bayou", the full version of which is 5 minutes. There is an extended edition of "Bootleg" called "Bootleg (Alternative Take)" which I like better than the shorter one, because, well, it's more CCR. They also had two versions of "Before You Accuse Me", and both are very different and great in their own right. One was only released on the 40th anniversary edition of their debut album, and I'm amazed it stayed locked away for that long.

Fogerty is the greatest front man never to be mentioned in a discussion of the greatest eock and eoll front men. His vocals are incomparable, hes a good guitarist, plays the harmonica, and plays thw saxophone. Hes a one man band if he wants to be, but he has a stellar backing band too. Could yiu hear the extremely low, baritone part in the harmonies? Im not even sure which band member does that but it's too freaking cool.

It never hurts to do a little research before your reaction. Many will already know what you find out, but there are always others who don't know and will appreciate the addition to your reaction. This song was written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong for Motown. Gladys Knight and the Pips recorded the song first, and it's great. The Miracles recorded it next (I've never heard that version), then Marvin Gaye, who had the biggest hit with the song. After that, CCR did their extended version (you've got the short version here, big mistake), and lastly, as far as I know, The California Raisins. Gladys, Marvin, CCR, and the Raisins all had big hits with this song, that's how good the song is and how good each of these artists were. I highly recommend you do a reaction to all of these artists, maybe even back to back? Watch the video with The California Raisins, I promise you'll be rollin'.
