As someone happily married to a Vietnamese and welcomed in her family I think it’s important to mention family influence. You may doing well in business with your wife but there could be wolves luring in the family, and that could change everything. So it’s not only happy wife but also remember you marry the family as well. That is probably the one thing we from the west don’t know until experienced. Btw great and educational content as always!

Hello young brother. I've à bit of an experience to share with you. I've been doing business in the US for over 30 years without any issues or complications. Life is good.
However, a good Japanese business acquaintance of mine offers me to a partnership in his company...first few years it was heaven, then when he had issues with his personal life, things went south. Finally, I've decided to end our partnership. We are still best friends, on and off golf course...lol.
So with all that said, IMO if I'm gonna open a business any where, here or VN, I'd have to be in full controls. No exceptions.
Thanks so much for your video and All the best to You.

I have heard these issues over 2 decades. have seen some from the usa , invested in VN lost all and crawled back here and now are homeless.
The question is why do you jump into a pond knowing that there are full of crocodiles? i have not heard 1 good story about a sucessful investment by an foreign individual in VN at all, may be big corporations that are being protected by vn central government.

Sounds like the best solution is to find a service that provides ongoing consulting services on HOW to do business in VN on a daily basis. Much less risky than depending on a GF or wife for such guidance. Also, marriage is supposed to be sacred and for life, not for business convenience.

A colleague’s Vietnamese wife suggested they purchase a small hotel in Saigon. She thought it would be a good investment.
He went through with the investment to keep her happy.
One day, he arrived at the front door of the hotel only to be greeted by her brothers and several male cousins. They refused to let him in and claimed they had never met him before.
He said it was the best investment he ever made to get rid of her and her family.

It is absolutely laughable the criticism of Vietnam’s corruption. Yes there is systemic corruption in Vietnam, just like the U.S., just like China, just like Canada, etc. Vietnam is trying to deal with the problem and has some notable successes in the fight.
Americans holding themselves up as the quintessence of a superior society seem to forget corruption in their banking and real estate sectors were two main contributors to the global recession. People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
