    This is the best foil quill tutorial I seen so far, I didn’t think of making earrings before. I wonder if you need a template for cutting the edge of the earrings with the Cricut.. and I also tried looking for the snapmat app.. no luck :(. Thank you for your time in teaching us some new skills! I love your voice and the tempo on your videos. No a second is wasted with nonsense. You exude a very positive energy xoxo

    Well done! Just received my standard quill yesterday and I’ve been playing with it all day. Thanks for your creative ideas! I’m going to try my leather with the Snapmat feature as I had a bit of trouble lining up the foil properly. My image ran into my tape and it didn’t foil completely. Could you have had the Cricut machine cut the leather as well?

      Yes, just go back, set to cut the outline the machine will then guide you through the blade choice and everything else you need to do

    Have you used the foil quill on fabric and leather with the Brother Scan N Cut? Does the fabric have to be without nap? I've tried it on faux suede with little success.

    Hi Alexandra. Thank you for this great video. I am new to both Cricut Maker and Foil Quill, so I learned a lot. Could you please kindly advise what linetype do you choose for leather - draw? I tried draw with fine line and it didn't turn out well. I am just wondering what I do wrong. Thanks sop much for your time.

    • @cricutcrazy4445

      Set it to DRAW and use the standard or bold tip foiling quill. You will need to experiment on some scraps to determine which line works best for whatever project you are working on.

      Just my choice for this project; but yes I could have changed the blade out and set the project for that but for this demo the focus was the quill and it was quicker to cut them out

      But, could you do a video showing how to cut it out, AND, could you also do a video using the thicker quill, AND, when you have the time and inspiration, could you also do a third video on how to 'fill in' spaces, for example - in case I am not explaining myself - if you make a square, or a circle etc and want it 'foiled in'. Greedy aren't I? looking forward to more videos though I love them all...

      Yes. you can use faux leather, if you choose, the same instructions would apply - with the exception of the blade. In this case, I would use the DEEP POINT blade instead of the KNIFE blade. If you use the Knife blade with the faux leather, you will likely cut through your mat.

    Could you have cut it out with the maker?

    • @cricutcrazy4445
      @cricutcrazy4445 Před 3 lety

      Yes! It's SO AWESOME!! But, you cannot use the KNIFE blade with a mobile device. There are those who say you can use the deep point blade when cutting leather..you CAN, but, it's difficult and unpredictable at best - I personally don't recommend it. The caveat to using the KNIFE blade is that you can only use a KNIFE blade in Design Space with a PC/Mac desktop or laptop computer. Here's how: In Design Space, create a solid shape the same size and shape as the design and ATTACH the two together. If you are making an earring, don't forget to slice out a small hole at the top of the solid shape and it will cut it out very nicely. The design should be set to DRAW and the solid shape you just created should be set to CUT. Place the leather and foil in the desired spot - After the design is drawn, pause the machine (DO NOT REMOVE THE MAT), remove the foil and tape only, then proceed with the cut. One other tip: to save your mats - stick the leather to some STRONG GRIP transfer tape and THEN place the leather (transfer tape side down, leather side up) on your mat. This will help keep all the fluffy bits of leather off your mat and help them to last a bit longer! thank you Alex for this demo! I appreciate you sharing your experience with us! Great job! :)

The purple was great fun when we first saw it, but it's distracting from your natural beauty. It's harsh on the eyes. Comment sent from the crafty community in Dallas with love. Help us to focus on what you are saying and not on the purple roots. Thank you and blessings sent. Happy Easter.
