I have made this dish countless times and have even memorized the process. It goes really well with basmati rice and it's perfect to serve to guests. They will love the abundance of flavors and the rice creaminess.
Choux That sounds delicious! What kind of boullion broth did you use??? Did you just put beef boullion powder or cube in boiling water to make the broth or did you buy it premade??? I've never used beef boullion broth before. And as for the cake flour, can I substitute it with all purpose flour?
I have made this dish several times and every time it reminds me Francis, truly missed. Please Francis teach the angels to make hayashi rice!
Ohhh, Thanks Francis...I've been waiting for this dish!
Aw Eric! Just found you here while reminding myself how to make this. Would you be able to go eat Hayashi rice in a little place for us, some day? I'd love to see it served up in a restaurant and get your rating on it! :) x
I love Chef-san's hair..... she looks marvelous....
The bay leaf will add the refreshing aroma to the dish and help reduce the smell of meat :)
Chef! I just made this recipe tonight. My god, it's so delicious! The homemade roux definitely makes a difference in the flavor and texture!
We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the recipe! :) Thank you for supporting our channel. (*^^*)
Cooking with Dog Been a watcher since 2009, Chef's recipes are so delicious and easy to follow! :D I'm just sad I never tried this recipe sooner! Please tell her that her recipes warm my heart and I'm always looking forward to the next video. (=´∀`)人(´∀`=)
I tried out this recipe a few weeks ago and it was absolutely DELICIOUS! I was even able to make that cute little rice mound! A+ will make again!
The bouillon broth (water + bouillon powder) are added to the roux (flour mixture) :)
Correction: The canned diced tomato is added at 4:40 (not tomato sauce). Sorry.
Heinz tomato ketchup can be used for hayashi rice! In the video, the ketchup is added at 4:05 and the tomato sauce is added at 4:40 :)
Great demonstration on how to make a golden brown roux without burning it. This is a great technique for many recipes in different cultures.
It's actually so adorable how Chef smiles all the time while she's cooking.
I recently discovered this channel and have been binge watching. The hostess never ages. She must be a CGI character! 😊
cookingwithdog and foodwishes teach me so much. I just know what I'm doing when I'm cooking now all because of you two. It's like I've been cooking for years =]
Yessssss, you are back!! Ty!!
I love love love your recipes, the lady, the dog and Francis' voice!! Thank you! Watching your videos is so much more interesting than reading a cookery book!
Beef is often used for hayashi rice but pork is fine :)
I just made this today, not being able to find demi-glace sauce. Thanks for the great version of Hayashi Rice!
I just made this recipe, it was absolutely fantastic. The texture is something you have to taste for yourself. Thank you very much for this wonderful recipe!
you are a treasure trove of pasta suggestions!
This is soooo delicious!!! i can't even describe how mouth-wateringly delectable this is! thank you!! my daughter and i made this today and we both agree, it's on the monthly dinner list!
Why is this so fun to watch.
this looked really good, but i cannot wait for the next video!!
This dish looks amazing! I cannot wait to give this a try! Thank you so much for your videos. Please continue to share amazing recipes.
Geez Japanese vegetables are so perfect looking, well only for this video probably.
I know I looked at the size of that carrot, and thought they don't grow that big here.
They're all super pretty in their supermarkets! It's a little expensive. Like 10% more. But they're beautiful! And delicious
yeah, when you consider that they are sold mostly by piece and not by weight. Like an apple - $1, tomato - $1, orange - $1, strawberry - $5, watermelon - $25. Being vegan in Japan is quite expensive, as well as eating meat. But everything that's fish and chicken is almost free.
Okay, who else has to remind himself/herself every now and then that the dog isn't really speaking?
What do you mean? ofc the dog is speaking who else
Me
He is the finest gentleman who speaks with the utmost eloquence! Do not question him! Lol
I love how francis smile widely when the lady said it was her favorite sauce. (at the end)
You’re right I didn’t notice it until you said so!!
love all these videos. so cute to watch
Look SO GOOD want to make but mom doesn't trust me to use the kitchen yet.
it's kinda hard to make the roux but the rest of the recipe is fairly easy :) you could ask her to help you and cook together ^^
Been five years, how about now?
Hostess Chef: "Stupid cheap salt n' pepper grinders!" XD
The worst part is those grinders are not cheap to buy just cheaply made. I never understood why anyone buys a salt grinder anyway. You can grind salt with a mortar and pestle in fairly large quantities and store it. Salt does not have any oils that will go bad and as long as it's kept dry will last practically forever. It's a mineral, not something organic that will go bad.
I am using Organic in the chemistry sense not in the overpriced Whole Foods sense.
I've made this dish several times and I love it! Definitely one of my favorite meals, thank you so much for posting all these recipes!
I love her cuisine!!! Thank you for posting Francis!
Is the Japanese ketchup different than that of American. It looks like it has a different consistency and effect on food
