  • Caryn Kadavy was in tough after placing a lowly 9th in the short program at the 1987 United States National Figure Skating Championships, dropping her to 4th overall. Needing to place at least 2 places ahead of Tiffany Chin in order to secure a Worlds team berth, Caryn placed 3rd in the Long Program and 3rd overall after Tiffany Chin only placed 5th in the long program behind Tonya Harding (4th in the long program, 5th overall).

She was amazing... I was skating around her when I was in college, her dad would do my skates...She was great, as was he!... Missing Western PA!

@ft192 Thanks for the specific information. I wonder how Tiffany would have done at worlds had she gone....Tiffany very rarely fell, and usually just popped jumps. Given how poorly Manley and Leister did, and how strong Tiffany was in the first two phases, she probably would have won the bronze again!

Tiffanys LP from Nationals where she had 0 triples done and even messed up her double axels would have probably been about 12th in the free skate. She would not have medaled, even with Manley screwing up.

hmm, had Caryn placed third and TIffany fourth, wouldnt she have had enough placements to move ahead of Tiffany>?
