From personal experience I've put a transmission from a 2003 GT into a 1999 GT and didn't change anything, harness,pcm,cables and the car drove absolutely perfect so there is not difference unless they are talking about a T45 transmission in a 99 vs a 3650 in the later years, all the same except the spline count on the input shaft. Sounded like your car was grinding gears.. Thats never a good thing, syncros going bad. You might want to look into that. As far as swapping a pcm any local mobile locksmith or tuner can program your keys for PATS or remove PATS for $50.. Sorry to rant, been doing this New Edge thing awhile so tons of experiences in the past.

I currently have a 94 v6 mustang with more than 200,000 miles on it. Currently fixing it and trying to get it running. I may end up doing a transmission swap on it, since it was the first car I owned. So I do have a lot affection to it, that’s why the swap instead of getting a manual one.
99-00 should be the same trans harness as those 2 yrs were windsor engines 01-04 are romeo engines and if i remember correctly half way through 01 they went from a t45 to a 3650 so who knows if the harmesses are the same those years. So nice to see the swap done in a video though! Thanks so much for documenting it! Now i might try the swap lol!

Man I just picked up an 02 gt convertible two weeks ago. My first 2v ever. It’s 100% bone stock auto trans and oh boy is it a turd lol bought it from the original owner 119k miles. I was kinda thinking about changing it to a manual but I converted my old fox from an auto to a manual and it was a pain getting the pedals put in. Think ima just end up doing a j-mod some 4.10 gears I’ve already ordered a cold air intake 75mm tb also picked up the tb and intake spacers. Don’t know if those things really help but they were like $20 each so why not. Bought the car for a daily driver so I could quit driving my 3v pull the motor and build the bottom end to hold some boost, so I really don’t plan on doing much to the 2v but I definitely gotta do a few things because it’s easily a 15 second car the way it sits. Although I’m not worried about final 1/4 miles times I do at least want it to be fun to drive lol. One good thing is by it being slow it makes my fbo, rattler cams, 4.10 gear, nitrous 08 3v feel like a rocket ship lol

in february of 2001 ford made changes. depending on what year/month it is you mat need a different sized clutch and also shifter. one has a shorter shaft that sticks out of the bottom than the other. my car is made in february of 2001 and it is a mixture of all kinds of things.
I know you said the 4.10 gears were changing the speedo, but I have not yet installed my gears and currently have factory gears in the car, but my Speedo reads almost double, what did you guys do to fix that?
im working on a 03 manual mach 1 i had to change my engine its form a automatic 03 mach 1 i can use the automatic engine harness an work or do i need to change it to my manual engine harness

lmao, we may have picked up power? i still say you should have tuned the auto, got dragy #s then did the swap and got dragy #'s on the manual, and ill bet dollars to donuts that its slower with the manual.

Up to you. I've used rads in the past for auto's (on my manual trucks) and just kept the little plastic covers on them. I'd personally just keep the little plastic covers on, or find the correct thread bolt and cover it.

I love the 4.10 gears in my 98 4.6. Going from Ohio to Tennessee for ford take over I still averaged 20 mpg. I didn't think that was to bad

I did the aod to t5 swap in my 92 fox the worst part was the pedal assembly I lost alot of skin off my knuckles

If the clutch quadrant is off-adjustment, it can lead to premature failure of the synchros, this happened to a T-5 I had in my mustang

My 01 (jan of 01) is a random mix at times also. I do know it's the stock romeo block.
