Announcing the EYESY™ - the next step in the evolution of our video synths!
Its closest relative is the ETC, but the EYESY has a lot more to offer! The EYESY makes it easy to create visuals from your music. Simply plug it in and start creating. But don't be fooled by the simplicity of the EYESY, there are many features and goodies hidden inside. Whether you are creating live visuals, working on a music video, or want to program your own graphics, the EYESY will become an indispensable tool.
Thank you to all the backers of the EYESY Kickstarter campaign!!

how does this differ from the ETC?
The EYESY is a close relative to our older ETC video synth, and adds some cool new features:
• Composite Video Output (in addition to the HDMI output)
• Improved processor speed and RAM (uses Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3+).
• Updated programming and file management functions over WiFi.
(To be sure, the ETC is no longer in production. The EYESY takes its place in our product line.)
My friend liked this so much he's now on the floor and wriggling a lot
XD
😂😂😂😂
Say hi to ur friend for me

Getting ready for my next acid trip
Sonic Obsessions getting ready for my next seizure.
Plaff hallucinogenic convulsions are fun
That’s it exactly what I was gonna say to man that would be some trippy shit
Well that reached its goal real quick.
It hasn't
Candy for the eyes 😍
It sure is
This looks like my first programs written on Pascal
Hi - Check out our experiments with OpenGL/openFrameworks on the EYESY! 3D! czcams.com/video/7MnCPUci85I/video.html

This is so innovative, just perfect, great complement for a live show
This seems very cool but I am just curious where the price tag comes from? It seems as if I am paying a 10x markup for a raspberry pi and some IO. Would there ever be a DIY version that you could pay for a license for the software/firmware?
My question is: why is this not simply software? I could still hook up a cheap midi controller to my laptop to perform live. Edit: $295??? Who are all these people spending so much on what can be easily done in free software?
damn I expected 150-180$
I think it's justified. I spent a good couple of weeks about a year ago trying to get a video synth going using free software. The results were underwhelming and I just felt like I wasted time either getting stuff to work or coding up a solution. Critter and guitari stuff is never cheap but it's always really good quality. For a well put together package like this, I can see how the markup can be justified (Remember also that 300$ is not outside the price range for a lot of modular stuff!). If you fancy a DIY solution you can just take the scenes from their previous video synth and hook it up to a raspberry pi - github.com/sylatupa/Video_Synth-ETC_Mother_and-Modes. Personally if I had the money, I'd rather support the company and end up with a nice package that I'll actually use - but that's just me!
(edit: I should just clarify. I tried to run my version on a RPI4 but had a lot of latency. I spent a lot of time faffing around trying to reduce the lag, but ended up getting fed up with it. That's another reason why I'd prefer to let someone else deal with the engineering :-) )
small market + r&d costs. you can replicate most consumer audio gear for like a sixth of the cost if you know what you're doing unless it's getting produced in behringer quantities, you pay a premium so the devs can eat.
C&G don’t build junk. It will be gigworthy and durable.
There's something mesmerizing about the TV spazzing out
Wanted more ETC but New version of ETC? Definitely gonna buy it
This is going to take djing at parties to the next level with a projector.
what a beautifull thing ! i need it in my set up !
Winamp, but not free, and without the media player
Is winamp a similar thing? I'm interested in this type of thing but this price is kinda steep
@@lucassurgeon4122 no, its not lol
You mean Milkdrop? Thats the only visualizer I use for winamp. Shits a straight acid trip if you configure it right find old configs for it. Plus the rating system used right can make it perfect everytime
@@socks7545 ah yes maybe, didn't know the visualizer had a separate name. It's been a long time since I used it to be honest. Cool memories
@@socks7545 this weird santa Claus man..
This product cured my blindness. 11/10 would recommend.
Thanks *EYESY* NOW!
I just love this

Lol
Nurture live leaked footage
30 years ago it would've been a hit! :-p
fantastic sounds from Chris here 👏
definitely gonna use that composite out port to make some crazy vhs tapes
This is what I’ve been wondering, you think it’ll play nicely blending with other gear??
Awesome
So cool!
Never heard of this or or the company but I love it and I’m ordering one.
Can 't wait to get one
This is fecking awesome
so cool
I love this !! ❤❤😍
I'm buying one of these asap
I need it in my life
Wow thanks for the commercial, looks real great!
I really love you guys very much!
Thank you for your wonderful products and the courage to create something so extraordinary!
Unfortunately, the market for such products is not particularly large.
I wish you all the best and keep it up!
Thank you so much!
Gilla band's "Most Normal" music videos in one synthesizer
I have no idea what I would do with this, but this is so cool. I wonder how heavily distorted guitars (Metal guitars) would look on this🤘
Ordering this soon. My next paycheck can't get here quick enough.
✨ a real wonder ✨
wooww so cool
Looks very lofi. In the field of visual animations there is much more possible.
bro that's EPIC
lovely video synth :)
A synth for my eyes!
This is my dream piece of gear as a synesthete
Oh sick
I wish i could fund this, looks dope, i kinda want one of these visualizations for my music.
if i go on tour i want my visuals to look like this
that is what I longing for
Greeaat 👌🏼👌🏾👌🔥
I remember doing this on an Amiga in 1988
Looks like Windows XP Media Player effects
i want this !
Oh yes yes yes
Would be so cool if you could up load or blend other video to affect
seems legit, might cop
Reminds me some transitions for old documentaries on Arte in the early 90'
Pretty cool tho i like it !!!!
8 - D thanks for including SD video out also! Still like my V4
Nice epileptic seizure generator you've built there.
You really think someone with epilepsy would buy this?
I'd definitely prefer some smoother visuals myself haha, looks like some setting tweaks and post-editing could probably allow that though
Great vid! Does the HDMI output audio? How would I go about recording the audio and visuals?
Hi guys! Big fan here ( I own every single machine you made )! EYESY looks really cool , but I wonder if besides the composite video out and more RAM I can do most of the stuff with my ETC? Also will all those modes online pages be available for ETC as well? Thanks!
Thanks for being a great customer! As you noticed, the EYESY is very similar to the ETC. We will be sharing the modes we create for the EYESY and hopefully users will do the same. One big difference in the EYESY is that we are beginning to explore higher resolution (1080p) and 3D imagery using OpenGL/openFrameworks. We just posted some experiments of this: czcams.com/video/7MnCPUci85I/video.html . (The ETC won't be able to do these improved graphics)
There should be a emulated version of this where it could be done without needing the hardware.
Maybe a DAW plugin?
Nice ideia tho.
filipe994 like make the daw an input to it?
It's running on a pi, so I imagine that either someone will just rip the binary off of it or they'll end up open sourcing at some point
I know there was a project with an oscilloscope and a software to make "visual music" using a simple oscilloscope. There is also, a visual oscilloscope album that use music to draw cool pictures
So many entitled people in the comments... this is a dope piece of tech. it's not about "the software" that really justifies the cost, it's the tactile nature you get from a physical module that's well constructed and gig-able.
would be cool if you could use the eyesy to modify an incoming video signal like other vidsynths
If done right this can be so dope
Holy crap, a good Kickstarter project?
Man I really must shell out, I bought a pocket piano shield and the old video synth long ago
wish i could afford this man
I want CV In for the knobs xD
Would be crazy. Turning my Synth-Knobs and at the same moment, the visuals are changing. :3
blank banshee will love that.
Download vlc media player and open visualiser .
This is great! Does this react to audio even as a standalone unit? Where can I get this?
Hi - yes it is a stand alone unit and reacts to audio input. It is available here: www.critterandguitari.com/eyesy Thanks for your interest!
I have been obsessed with this thing since stumbling on it a couple months back. I’m so disappointed it’s not in stock anywhere. Someone please get with me if you have any leads.
Seriously tempted as the ETC is now out of production and unavailable in the UK in any shape or form from my usual outlets.
Cool! This is the ETC's replacement.
@@CritterGuitariInc Awesome! Have a couple of quick questions from your Kickstarter page: (1) What is the resolution of the HDMI output? (2) Does the Early Bird discount only apply up until the 21st April?
The HDMI output resolution is 720p for sure. We're looking into 1080p too.
The Early Bird deal will end when the Kickstarter campaign ends.
I can’t justify spending half of the cost of an OP-Z for this. The OP-ax’s visuals are just .... cleaner. And make up 10% of what that unit is capable of. Drop the price to $80 and we will talk.
We're exploring higher resolution and 3D visuals with OpenGL: czcams.com/video/7MnCPUci85I/video.html
Critter & Guitari
It’s still not Unity, which the OPZ does. And even so, your unit costs more than half of the OP-z and it ONLY does visuals. Your overhead speaks to an insane level of greed considering the cost of a Raspberry Pi 3.
At bulk cost, you can’t be paying more than $35 per Pi and an additional $20-$30 on parts. It’s almost a 400% markup.
@@edmontontech2008 To my knowledge the op-z needs to be paired with a computer to run Unity. That said I'll own all of the above by June if I'm lucky. Thanks C&G for your work on this it looks great!
Tom Benson
Nope. Just a monitor or Bluetooth tablet.
@@edmontontech2008 geez, so entitled. build your own then and sell it lol
I played with it in AVS from Winamp.
Dam this is cool 👻
Remember when they did this on Windows 98?
I'd like to watch it during a gig on mdma
Can you load anime clips to mash up with the random generated visuals? I am looking for that to use with synths for live performances.
Basically windows media player visualization
How does it compare to Erogeneous Tones Structure eurorack module?
could i run this into my streo receiver while im plaing music?
Hi guys. Is the eyesy going to be able to playback video or work with incoming video? And what about opengl support? Thanks!
Thanks for your interest! There isn't a video input jack. We have been experimenting with OpenGL on the EYESY! More here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/critterandguitari/eyesy-video-synthesizer/posts/2808835
How would you go about recording the video from the EYESY itself? this seems very cool
If you want to record the HDMI output:
1. A video game capture card like the Elgato HD60 lets you record the HDMI output to your computer via USB. It comes with its own software. You can record the same audio that the EYESY is responding to if you send the same audio to the capture card's mic input,
2. A capture card like the Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle has HDMI and analog input so you could record the EYESY's HDMI or composite outputs to your computer. The Intensity Shuttle has its own software but will also work as an input device within Adobe Premiere and Quicktime.
Alternatively, you could record the composite video output on a VHS tape.
IIIIIIIDUUUUUUUUUUUBBBZ!!
So basically audio visualizer that's new but actually is not as atari had its own (very much like this) 30 years ago
Could you run the master output of a gig into this and out into a projector for live visuals?
Well, considering it needs an audio in from an input jack.
I'll let you answer that question.
If you're asking about individually adjusting visuals upon what frequencies/instruments are playing.
Probably not.
Bit confused on the kickstart. Is the pledge the chance to order it? Or is that the pre-ordered payment?
Hi - thank you for your interest! Our Kickstarter campaign is a presale. If you pledge, you are purchasing one.
I wanna see someone play 15 step with that
LMAO
W
why not as software?
ya i play the visuals
This is epilepsy safe right or has a mode for it doesn't it?
какая же крутая трава
How'd yall make the effect at the end???
For a live gig would this require the mixing desk to be near the projector in the venue?
Not necessarily - just need long enough cables to reach!
So is it possible to use Eyesy in combination with other analog video synthesis? For instance if I had an eyesy and a DIY video mixer, would I be able to run the Eyesy through a mixer and mix the Eyesy visuals with say an old VHS?
Of course! The EYESY is a video source just like your VHS player. The EYESY has video output jacks for HDMI and Composite video.
Composite out!!!! This is so awesome. I had my ETC clone built out of a RPI and blokas pisound, and really wanted a Rpi based ETC. The idea is great and the interface is great as well. Running pygame really can take a toll on the CPU and having more of it, it's great and being able to run in composite mode hopefully will help as well, and hopefully RPi composite performance will not be hindered by www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=245655
great for people with epilepsy
Can it run crysis?
Haven’t you guys released this box before? I saw someone use this box about two years ago. Or is this a version 2.0 or something?
Yes - this is more or less the 2.0 version. Thanks!
I think you should make a software version. That would be much more convenient
Alex Cabrera but then you would have to buy a computer?
@@theycallmejpj I hope you're joking...? Most people own pcs
theycallmejpj that’s like asking somebody to port a game to console and and than somebody saying “but people would have to buy that console.”
@@LightsPersonalAcc no a lot of music producers don't work with computers
AntoineLhy you kidding right?
Does anyone know if you can use HDMI and Composite simultaneously?
Only one video format can be generated at a time - so you'll have to choose one or the other.
@@CritterGuitariInc Thank you!
Can I load Eyesy's OS on my Organelle M?
I had the og video synth and it was cool but the visuals eventually get boring? Is this gonna be a completely different experience? Will the amount of patterns be customizable on this video synth?
Yes, the EYESY is much more than the original Video Scopes. With the EYESY, you can save presets (colors, sizes, etc.) from Modes, upload new modes, program new modes, etc. You can add images to Modes too.
