I was a fan and watcher of DSP until 2012. I stopped watching him that summer when I graduated high school because initially the teenager potty and offensive humor was enjoyable to the teenage me when I stumbled upon his infamous one play through during the great PSN hacking. It was how a lot of people talked in my high school and given I spent a good amount of my younger days in Connecticut I guess it was a regional thing so it just felt normal. I guess the "mature" switch got flipped once the diploma entered my hand because he was no longer funny, but also I no longer had to supplement playing games for watching people since I was working and could buy them myself. I also slowly started watching other creators more at the time such as the creatures and Two Best Friends Play who were just all around much better. I had forgotten this man existed until he was brought up as some sort of joke by the aforementioned two best friends or Charlie.
Now I detract this man and I'm waiting for the day when he finally gets what is coming to him.

Just got here after trying to watch some of his Baldur's Gate 3 playthrough, and it was so dull. I don't even know why, but watching him play and bumble through was maddening. There was one segment where he took fire damage and went 'Where's the fire? I don't see any fire' while moving right past a patch of burning ground and obvious fire.
Amazing how trolls warned this would happen back when DSP rebranded DSP reACK and DSP continue to double down and profit 2-3 channels. Isn't DSP the one with business degree? 😂

I was rewatching some Markiplier videos last night. Specifically, of him and his friends playing Overcooked 2. As they were picking their character skins, Mark's friend Bob jokingly clarifies to his chat that Mark is "the Asian one" in an almost accusatory tone (for those few who don't know, Markiplier is half-Korean). Everyone burst out laughing, including me.
Nobody would be laughing if he was actually suggesting or implying that Mark was just "the Asian one". Best case scenario, it would have caused a few brows to raise.
It’s amazing to see him make the connection that him not enjoying the retro react stuff translates to his viewers not enjoying, but not make the connection to the rest of his gameplay.

I used to watch DSP and I was around when he was putting out his heavy rain playthrough, was laid off from his job, that whole classic era. I watched because I was a kid. Back then it didn't matter how good the content was, it was content. It was full video game playthrough and you didn't have millions of options. I also didn't have my own money to play them all myself. But also, I was young so I took everything at face value and didn't really analyze how he played. Sure there were plenty of times where I was yelling at the screen for him to go in the door with the giant arrow, but it just didn't cross my mind. If it really got boring I skipped forward in the video.
I guess some things never change though. Here I am still watching DSP.

He's always done this: whenever he feels like the project he's about to start (or just started) might not get the numbers he wants, he'd go to do the vlog channel and push that something that could make people want to watch the videos (e.g. "alotta peepule say that this is the best playthrough I've done in a while), in this case he thinks that the fact that TWD tv show was popular in 2012 might be that something, for some reason. In a recent suggestion box he acknowledged that the prestream recap and the daily wrap are in part just hype machines.

DSP should really react to his Jak & Daxter playthrough. His failures in the Klaww fight alone would be hard to explain. Or the fact that he didn't even press circle ONCE in his first seating and threw a hissyfit that he needed a guide to know that the spinkick is mapped onto circle...
If he actually wanted to do something to make the experience of watching old playthroughs somewhat entertaining and more palatable;
*_he'd take those old full-playthroughs and create a chronological highlight video reducing the playthrough down to a singular consumable experience_* (Maybe between 15 and 30 minutes long, depending on the game) *_that captures the general progression and significant gameplay/narrative moments combined with what he feels are the "highlight" commentary moments._*
You add some cutaways, some decent editing, and it's something people might actually watch.
Because no one sees a 50-part+ playlist for a single game and even bothers. If anyone has "watched" that... It's because they fell asleep and auto-play threw DSP a bone.

Here's the thing with Retro Reacts... It SHOULD be a chance for him to double-up. If the old streams were bad or lacking in commentary, he could take his current evolved personality and cover for what the old streams lacked.
Point out mistakes, make fun of himself, and turn it into a time to engage with the chat more, or in ways he often can't when streaming a game. Breathe new life into the dead air.
But realistically, Retro Reacts was a bad idea... No one wants to watch DSP watch old videos of DSP being even worse at streaming than he is now for dozens of hours.
The hilarious thing is that it's just a Retrospective, an "event" he used to do in the past where he watched his old content as nominated by fans. And that lost interest then, too. Even he was bored by them.

His set up/ mentality reminded me of myself (keep in mind I was younger back in the day) until I moved onto other content creators for let's plays that had a better set up. Considering my younger self would make more edgy/ racist jokes. Though keep in mind I wasn't a fan of his content for long considering he was never willing to improve his set up.
Hopefully this applies to all his other channels as well.

Chiming in as someone who used to somewhat like DSP, though not in the way dents like him. Probably the closest thing to an “ex-fan” here.
For about a decade now, I’ve actively watched the many TIHYDP and “DSP Tries It” videos around CZcams, often throwing on the long ones while working or just when I’m grinding in a game. Originally I really hated him because he insulted a lot of games I liked while being completely wrong about them, but over time he grew on me.
I’d liken my prior enjoyment of Phil to how you enjoy seeing an incompetent recurring villain in a show or game. He sucks at everything he does, he’s dumb as rocks, and he’s constantly confused. But at the same time, there used to be something endearing about it all. Seeing him try to make shitty jokes, fail at the same segments over and over, completely miss things a child could figure out; it was all objectively pretty funny and he seemed to be able to laugh a lot of it off. Though not intentionally, he provided me hours upon hours of entertainment. (Note, I could never watch his raw content, it had to be the cut down edits from “detractors”.)
That being said, a few years ago he started on this downward spiral of just being extremely uptight and “professional”. I can stand a dumb idiot making an ass of himself and laughing like a seal. I can’t stand being lectured to and solicited for money 18 times a day by a paranoid scammer who thinks he’s smarter than everyone else. The second he started this thing where he takes himself super seriously, I lost what little endearment existed. Now it’s come full circle and I really dislike him again. But for a while, I enjoyed him for what he was.

I'll admit, I was a formal "casual fan" of this clown. Though even when I first watched him between 2012-2014 was way before I dug beneath the surface about his begging and other like behavior (I was in my early 20s). In 2014 I was basically just making fun of him because I saw all his playthroughs of FromSoft Games, showed my friends, even my mom had a negative opinion of Phil. Whenever anyone happened to watch him with me they were also laughing at him. A long time ago I even tried giving him the benefit of the doubt and found out that it wasn't worth it throwing him any bones of sympathy. I'm surprised he's still even able to continue to stream himself playing games (poorly) and whining all the time, he's my favorite LolCow. This guy will have endless cathartic entertainment for me even after he stops making content.

I'm not sure if it's going to stay like this the whole video, but I prefer the transition animation of your avatar between Phil and your commentary from your previous videos. Maybe you got some feedback that suggested you change it already and I'm just complicating matters (maybe you thought it was too jarring), but just a polite mention. The glitch effect was cool.

1: how fuckin narcissistic can you be
2: the content on the channel is solely all dsp, not the game. it's dsp reacting to dsp. so when something isn't bringing in money, what's he gunna blame? the game? he's not playing the game.

Phil left it up, at least at the time, and Iveega showed everyone on stream that there were, in fact, no troll comments up there. So, unless Phil was able to scrub away those comments before Iveega viewed it a day or two later, then Phil is once again a liar and should not be trusted.
He is is own worst enemy. He's complaining that all the games he's played recently haven't been supported. But he also complained about RPG burnout. And when he finally has a chance to play something else after basically dumping FF7, he just goes to another rpg which is dragon dogma 2. Then when it fails he says everyone else told him to play it while HE wanted to play rise of the ronin. Despite people telling him to do that, or play stellar blade(But we know exactly why he will never play that game) Helldivers continues to be popular, but he says it's a 'flash in the pan game' or a 'meme' game. When in reality it's still going strong and the real reason is cause he knows friendly fire is on. A reasonable problem for a person like himself. An easy excuse that he irronically doesn't take so he can insult the game for being overhyped.
Nor does he decide to go back to street fighter cause of 'fighting game burnout' and all the dlc characters being not from the older games, and as a 42 year old stubborn goober, idiot boomer, he refuses to even touch the newer cast, besides the child, Lily.
And he doesn't decide to play a closed lobby and play with trusted fans. Or play the campaign of battlefront at all. He just went straight to the multiplayer for no reason. Doesn't even consider it a good choice for some fun co-op with his wife, or any REAL co-op game for that matter.
In short, he is his own worst enemy and continues to make the wrong descision almost on purpose at this point.
