Thanks for watching I’m glad you enjoyed the video. That XR certainly was and still is one of my favorite bikes I ever rode. It was not my bike however and it has since been sold. I definitely think I eventually want to buy one for myself. They are so awesome for just going out and exploring trails and or even just taking it out to go get ice cream or lunch with friends. Amazing machines.
Thanks for the response. Having never had a dual sport I am looking forward to what you described. I grew up riding dirt bikes. When I got older I did the crotch rockets and then cruisers. Now the next chapter is the XR650L dual sport. I am a taller rider and its high seat height appeals to me.@@Anything_With_An_Engine
@@christophermcsherry2655 yeah I’m 5’11” and the stock seat height was great with some boots for me. The bike was my fathers and he is vertically challenged so he had to lower it and put the seat concepts lower seat. The only thing I would have changed if I owned the bike myself would have been building the suspension for my weight. I normally ride dirt bikes faster on rougher stuff but the XR was a little soft for my fat butt to ride it harder than I was in the video. The stock tires also weren’t too shabby off road but they left a lot to be desired on harder packed dirt.
I love my Xr....there is something about that engine that just is so satisfying ..love the pop pop pop..I was 10 when the Xr75 came out and my XR just brings back those awesome days out at Escape Country and Saddleback, (OLD So Cal people will know where I am talking about lol) ,,good times
I was in high school when they came out with the XR 650L swore I would get one and years later my favorite motorcycle I have ever owned I had rockets thru goldwing and still rode the XR the most.
Good idea adding a lower seat and lowering kit . I'm 5'10" and could only touch on both sides of my 2004 XR650L with my tippy toes . I miss that bike .

@@Anything_With_An_Engine First, I'm over in Ridgecrest. I just picked up an XR650L. Been quite a lot of years since I have been riding so I was a bit intimidated at first. Also, I have never ridden on the street so it is a learning and getting back in the saddle experience. I am having a blast and finding the whole riding again very enjoyable. What Camera are you using and how is it mounted?
@@musicman1508 Hi Pete, im using a GoPro Hero Session 4. Mounted on the lower cheek portion of my helmet with the sticky pad mounts that the cameras come with and a little bendy arm that holds the camera out. Also enjoy the bike! They are little reliable torque monsters. This bike has a upgraded carb and a Big Gun slip on and all the smog equipment removed. It makes the bike 100x nicer to ride. It out runs my old CR250R 2 stroke and some of my friends newer crf250r and Kx250f dirtbike's with fuel injection. Its pretty crazy the hidden power these things have. Before we tuned it and what not the thing was a pig no pun intended.

We sold this bike... I really do miss it. Had lots of stuff I wanted to do with it. But life is just busy and the XR was to much of a toy.

Dave’s mod carburetor. Big gun evo R slip on, and a 1.5 inch lowering link and a seat concepts lower seat.
