Electric Scooter Face-Off: Which One Comes Out on Top? Varla vs Apollo

- In this thrilling video, I bring you an exciting face-off between two top electric scooters: the Varla Eagle One Pro and the Apollo Phantom. Join me as I dive deep into their features, test them out, and reveal my personal choice.
The Apollo Phantom packs a punch with its powerful 1200W front and rear motors, while the Varla Pro impresses with its twin 1000W motors. But the Pro takes the lead in battery capacity, thanks to its larger 27 amp hour battery compared to the Phantom's 23.4 amp hour battery.
Braking systems differ, with the Apollo featuring mechanical brakes and the Pro equipped with hydraulic brakes. However, the regen thumb throttle on the Phantom caught my attention, significantly reducing the need for manual braking.
Speed enthusiasts will appreciate the Pro's higher top speed, reaching around 70 km/h, while the Phantom offers a respectable mid-60s km/h range. Tire size also differs slightly, with the Pro sporting 11-inch tires and the Phantom featuring 10-inch tires.
When it comes to weight and payload capacity, the Pro is slightly heavier due to its larger battery, but it can handle a higher payload of up to 330 pounds compared to the Phantom's 300-pound capacity. Suspension-wise, the Phantom boasts a quadruple spring system, while the Pro features dual hydraulic suspension.
During my thorough testing, I encountered a few minor gripes. The handlebar grips on the Pro didn't stay locked down as securely as I would have liked, while the Phantom's light was underwhelming. However, the Pro makes up for it with its powerful and bright light, perfect for nighttime rides.
Folding mechanisms also differ greatly. The Pro's folding mechanism is unconventional, resembling a faucet, while the Phantom's mechanism is simpler and more user-friendly.
Now, the moment you've been waiting for: my personal choice. If I need extra range or crave top speed, I would undoubtedly go for the Varla Eagle One Pro. It offers immense power, impressive range, and a host of features that I absolutely love.
On the other hand, if I prioritize a softer suspension and easy maneuverability for commuting, the Apollo Phantom would be my go-to. The regen braking feature on the Phantom is a game-changer, making manual braking almost unnecessary.
Both scooters have their unique advantages, and the choice ultimately depends on your personal preferences and specific needs. Share your preference in the comments below: which one would you choose, the Phantom or the Pro? Join the discussion and let me know your thoughts!

Definitely the Phantom. The fact that the other one can't be picked up and lacks regen brake is a complete deal breaker for me. The Phantom is a perfect blend of portability and power. I would not choose the Pro over the Phantom simply because it can go slightly faster, around 6-7 km/h, and has a slightly larger battery. The trade-off is too much for me.
@DC it's funny that once you have figured out which style is best for you how just gravitate towards it. Jamie loves the Pro and I love the Phantom...the regen on the Phantom and City are amazing...so much more smooth :)
i got my phantom V3 last week and WOW !!! Holey cow what a machine... I live in a small town and people cant seem to understand how i can follow/pass traffic on a e-sccoter lol.. But yeah the phantom is amazing! The regen breaks are all i use for stopping power and as for top speed i hit 68km/h on the flat. Amazing scooter!
Awesome to hear Sergio :) :)
Stay safe out there :)
Cheers
Nice. I hit 44 mph so far on flat ground. Phantom kills most others without fail.
@@joecharpentier6636 sounds like you're loving it :) :) awesome...I love it too :)
@Tim's Electric absolutely love it. I'm either on it or it's charging or I'm asleep lol.
@@joecharpentier6636 that's so awesome to hear :)
Phantom V4 tops out at 42-43 mph now. Waiting for mine to arrive next week. 🤗
Awesome @Augie090, good times ahead :)
Pro all day everyday for me. Having tubeless tires is huge. Also i love the hydraulic suspension. So much smoother
thanks so much for sharing your thoughts...I missed both of them in my video...the suspension is awesome and tubeless....yes :) :)
Yeah I really wish they had gone tubeless on the Phantom. I saw that another scooter company has come up with a tubeless split rim that works because of an o-ring to create the seal. Hopefully this is the future of all scooters as then you get the easy tire change of a split rim and the more flat resistant tubeless tires. It's not a deal breaker for me though, just a nice convenience.
Phantom for the win! 100%. I've reached 70km per hr on the Phantom easy
wow,.....that's so fast lol...be safe :)
I’m ready to buy my next scooter and these two are my finalists. The Apollo Phantom appears to be a bit more portable. Thank you for the in-depth review!
Awesome Fat Albert, hope you love it :) :) and do use my codes to get a discount or gift :) :)
I’d choose the phantom. I’ve actually rode and owned both in the past. Both aren’t that good for the sidewalk. Both aren’t super portable compared to others, but they both go pretty fast and have a really good range. Both built really solid and have cool features.
Cheers @Frostorm777, but which one would you choose?
I’m torn between the latest Phantom and Eagle One V2. They seem practically identical on paper. Which one would you choose??
I’d really like to hear from someone like you who has experience dealing with both companies and their respective scooters.
Reliability, ease of maintenance, and good customer support with available and timely delivery of spare parts are things important to me.
Wow. I gotta say that I can't believe u think the light is better on the Pro. First it's on the ground which is horrible placement and second, the Phantom has a 1000 lumen bright as he'll light placed perfectly on the scooter.
interesting...both Jamie and I prefer it in the evenings...but you're right of course, having the light up higher is preferred :)
Nice versus video. I would go with the pro but I think you already knew that!
LOL...speedy Tone!!! :)
Both scooters are beasts! 💪 I wonder what scooters should be compared next?
Awesome question Jamie :) :) I have a couple of smaller scooters to compare this week :)
just ordered a certified open box 60v phantom for a crazy deal I'm super excited
Awesome @Max-tc7ps, hope you love it as much as I do :)
I like the avarla pro more and not that you mentioned but also because of the red color scheme looks sweet. I like scooters that have swing arms color red such as the zero 10x, nanrobot D.4+, & nanrobot RS7+. I dont own the varla pro yet but iv thought of buying but eh im still thinking about it, i got too many scooters lol
lol Julian, the struggle is real with collecting scooters :) and you're right the red is awesome :)
Only negative about this video is it's only6 min long
lol...thank you so much :) :) very kind of you :)
Very true and I couldn't agree more.
@@TimsElectric you know what it means parter we need minimum 10 min brotha
Hi Tim, which would you rather have given all the Pros and Cons, a Thunder 2 or a Wolf King GT Pro and why. Thanks Tim
Honestly, the dual stem and time I've spent on the Wolf...I'd stick with the Wolf...love it...so smooth...that being said the Thunder 2 is epic...but currently a Wolf fanboy :)
thinking about this a bit more...I think I'd need to try the Thunder 2 again...and do a comparison...sadly I don't have access to one yet :(
I just bought a Phantom, so we'll see how it goes. I chose the Phantom because I use my scooter in place of a 2nd vehicle. Apollo has great build quality, and the lighter scooter means that (while not ideal) I can more easily carry it up the stairs at work. I've been using an Apollo Ghost for a while now, and absolutely love it. I see this as a great minor upgrade, especially with the dedicated regen brakes. I can't stress enough how excited I am about that feature. It's not hard to change brake pads, but the fact that I won't have to, and I'll get a bit of extra range to boot is a total win in my book. I'm not a speed demon, I tend to ride in the 25-30mph range as I worry too much about potholes or something throwing me off at faster speeds. A helmet can only do so much. So the tiny bit of extra speed on the Varla doesn't really speak to me.
Awesome to hear your thoughts @bryant7191, I think you're going to love the regen....I really think it makes the experience that much better...I really can't remember the last time I used my brakes on either the Phantom or City Pro...they're so smooth :) You might pick up a pair of wrist guards...could be really helpful if you come off...I bought a pair for my wife and they're comfy and have the added protection of the palms being protected too :)
@@TimsElectric thanks for the tip
you're welcome :)
The people wanna see the V3 phantom vs Nami Klima 😊
I need a Nami!!!
@@TimsElectric Holla at Michael Sha
@@bunit8 thank you...where and how? Cheers :) :)
found him :) will do :) off to film a couple of unboxings :) :)
Im a big guy weighing 130kgs so Id probably go for the Varla.
It's a smooth ride :)
@TimsElectric I'll probably get a seated scooter for my next ride. I'm thinking of a Voltrium, it's made right here in Australia.
save the gas money for sure :) :)
I have the phantom and i love the regen brake. It also is just able to fit into my trunk (and a few other useful places by a hair) which means the varla almost certainly wouldn't fit and those two items alone are probably deal breakers. Phantom also has plenty of power, but of course I'd never say no to more range. I wonder how the throttle is on the varla? I never see it mentioned in reviews, but the phantom has a very nice, smooth throttle as well. The phantom does need proper hydraulic supension though. That would be a massive improvement and a big plus for the varla.
Awesome questions @happydappyman, fitting into a trunk is a big deal for some...the regen is amazing...do watch the recent video with Jamie :) The throttle on the Varla is smooth :) Interesting on the suspension, hydraulic or not...I honestly need to check into this more :)
Phantom for sure, it has more style and innovation.
Awesome @Miltsta, I'm looking forward to seeing the Pro to....coming soon I hear :)
no one seems to be asking this question but how many miles does the motor last when you need to replace the motor or starts giving you problems??
Awesome @yasserblanquet, I think it's a terrific question and one that needs to be asked of all the scooter companies...I suppose time will tell :)
While I can't answer this specifically I can say that it's probably not likely to be an issue. It's more likely that your battery will degrade and require replacement (which usually means a new scooter) long before the motors give out. The Phantom has brushless motors, and while I'm not sure I believe the Varla does as well, so I don't see either of those being an issue.
I bought a really abused ( not Knowingly ) Apollo Ghost with 3600 kilometers on it . The man said it was in very good condition , I drove 1.5 hrs to get to him , only to find out that the front tire was bald and flat and infact the scooter was being ridden that way . The front stem had a huge wobble , bought it for way less that originally quoted by the man . Came home to find out the rotors were bent as well along with brake pads being completly shot . Tried to take off the rotors , but found out the 6 screws holding the rotors were all drilled out , so I could not use the allen keys to take out those screws . I almost gave up and wanted to throw away the scooter . The only reason I kept on putting the effort was because the motors still sounded and pulled the scooter as if they were still new ( lots of life still left in the motors ). Lets say after putting in some intense efforts and replacing the damaged components at the cost of another $ 145 over the price of $325 that I paid for the scooter , I have something that could potentially sell for $ 1000 , and all because of the motors , because I didn't want to throw away the scooter with such good motors.
@@vicsaggu thank you for the info appreciate it!
They’re not enough to choose from…looking for mileages and technologies for distance. The Klima Max finally claims 60 mi. I can’t believe how it moves, Have you seen the guy launching it from a standstill and doing 180s and off 4 stairs? Whoa!!!!!!
I haven't....I need to find the video...paste it here if you can :) :) Cheers Edie :)

Burn up controller?
I haven't experienced that @itsall4tay247
I'm pretty certain , these 2 scooters comes from the exact same factory in China.
Interesting @vwbora26, which company is that ?
@@TimsElectric Apollo builds the Phantom and Ghost in one factory, and the City and Pro in another one in Shenzhen
@@vwbora26 that's so interesting...I didn't know that :)
Varla weighs more has better range and larger battery but also 12 lbs heavier. Phantom is lighter and less battery capacity but with regen braking probably will give same range.
Awesome @RaiderNation-North, thanks for sharing your thoughts :) I do love the regen braking :)
