  • Is the Apollo Phantom V3 e scooter a massive upgrade from the Phantom V2? In this video I'll go over the new features and demonstrate them on a ride so you can see if you think the new Apollo Phantom V3 electric scooter is worth the upgrade or not.
    With a new custom Mach 1 controller, LUDO Mode for more power and top speed, variable throttle and thumb throttle regenerative braking, it gives other high end scooters a run for their money when it comes to power, range and comfort!
    With a top speed of 41 mph, range of up to 50 miles, and adjustable quad suspension, the Apollo Phantom V3 is not only fast but also one of the most comfortable electric scooters of 2023. Because of its high powered dual motors, it one of the best electric scooters for heavy riders and adults to ride without sacrificing speed or much range!
    Watch my detailed review and road test to find out for yourself if the Apollo Phantom V3 is worth the upgrade!

    I purchased my Phantom when it first came out. Since then I have the V3 upgrade. I have to say this has been the most fun ever. I purchased mine for around town and when my wife and I RV to get items and come back to the camp site. I use the hook and a backpack. I have the V2 and really like it for my first scooter. Although, it did take me a bit to get used to how high the deck is off the ground. And I'm 6'3".
    Also, the throttle on mine is pretty much off or on and was thinking that it probably shouldn't be that way, but now that I watch your video and see how much you like having control of the throttle, then maybe mine isn't broken. Just kinda sucks for a scooter that is damn near $2,000 (but I got for 500 because dude thought the battery was bad, but was just way out of balance).
    So, what I saved buying it the way I did, you've convinced me to spend the extra 400 or so for the upgrade. And it'll still be a bargain 😊

    8:42 The Voltage read is your current battery status. It will always be around the same number, as Voltage and Amperage will never change much. Your battery pack delivers 52V and 23.4Ah. Over time, the Amperage deliver will fall and give you less amperes per hour.

    Is the regen braking using BOTH front & rear motors to slow down/stop? I like to turn my motor-braking on full in my '22 ghost but I'm wearing out brake pads constantly. I can't tell you if it uses both front and back but I would imagine it does. I don't feel a stronger pull from either so I would assume both. I have mine at 4 or 5 and it stops me very quickly. I have not tried 10 because I don't need 10. It would probably throw me over the handlebars ..haha. And as far as brake pads ...I have not used my brakes at all!! I have tried them a few times to make sure they still work but on every day riding I ONLY use the Regen brake. And there is NO skidding with the Regen brake so you should be good. Why do I see some people saying Apollo has 2 year warranty so much conflicting information when it comes to Apollo even Apollo themselves say one thing and then you speak to another live agent of theirs and you get completely different information…I really like Apollo but that’s a little ridiculous

    • @HobartsReviews
      @HobartsReviews  Před 7 měsíci

      If you look at their website, they have a 12-month warranty on the scooter itself. Up until November of 2022 they had something else called the protection plan which was included when you bought a scooter from Apollo. This covered your brake pads, fenders, tires and tubes. You are allowed to get free of charge from Apollo these items for up to 24 months after you purchase your scooter. Of course you couldn't get as many as you wanted as there were limits but they were pretty generous. But the protection plan is no longer valid because they ended it in November of last year. So as of now there's just a 12-month warranty. Hope that clears it up.

    ** UPDATES after 1400kms, inserted below **
    I received mine yesterday. You were right about the regen braking. While it takes a while to get used to, it's nice to not have to endure the mess that is braking on the Apollo Ghost. I thought this scooter could benefit from slightly larger tires (~11" would've been good). I'm still in the honeymoon stages (scooter is totally silent, even over bumps) but I know a few bumps from now, it'll start to loosen up.
    You were absolutely right about the re-gen brakes - I set mine to 10 & tried a couple of hard stops - it's definitely 2-wheel braking & the tires don't skid.
    ** UPDATE: I can get the back wheel to skid on gravel/dirt path.**
    Couple of points: Apollo owners will have to come to grips with the fact that if it's a sunny day, you're not going to see what's on the display, at least not clearly. It's brighter, but it's not "finally visible".
    ** With sunglasses, the LED screen is barely visible. I mounted my phone (get a good mount & gorilla glue it or you'll be adjusting it every 15 feet. **
    What I find to be a bit of a letdown is the app. That's not to say it's not good, it's just there are so many things that could be adjusted thru the app, but are not:
    1. The 3 gear 'modes' - the app allows 3 things to be configured & assigned to a 'mode': Cruise, Roll-Start and Top Speed. You may also configure the Throttle & Re-Gen responsiveness, but your selection can't be applied to a specific Mode!
    ** UPDATE: This is limited due to the firmware in the LED display (though it seems like it could be resolved with software). You can still use ECO mode, also programmable, to use less battery. Just how much less, though, anyones guess.
    2. When the scooter's turned on, there are 4 display modes along the bottom that iterate when you press the 'M' button: Duration, Trip Odo, Odo, Volume, Remain. I would prefer 'remain' (% of scooter battery remaining) to be the default - but you have to tap the M button every time you power up to select 'remain'. Should be a config to default it.
    ** UPDATE: There is no cure for this, it remains in my routine when starting the scooter **
    I have NO idea what 'VOL' means. It's not in Apollo's instructions, nor can I find anything in the app to tell me what it means. It fluctuates, as a percentage of something - perhaps a weight restriction?
    ** UPDATE: 'Vol' means voltage. It shows the remaining battery voltage (e.g. 58.7 is full).
    3. Signal lights! Finally! They self-cancel, but they cancel too quickly. It's something like 5-6 seconds. I would like to be able to increase the timeout.
    ** UPDATE: this remains annoying. If the signal lights could flash on my phone as well, as the often-invisible LED, it'd be problem solved. But no. App either can't or won't get signal light status, let alone allow you to extend the flashing duration. **
    Also:
    In the App Settings where you select your units of measurement (metric or imperial) - underneath this is "Auto Ride". Nowhere in the docs or in the app do I see what in HELL this means.
    ** UPDATE: 'Auto Ride' means to automatically document/store the details of the ride. (GPS, where, when, avg/max/min speed, max/min battery/controller temps, etc). It's poor English but now I know.
    Pardon the long post, I'm quite excited about this scooter. I'm counting the seconds until my first flat tire, I'm told. The Apollo City Pro has puncture-proof tires, I wonder why I can't buy them for the Phantom. My Ghost is easier & lighter to ride, but has offroad tires so it's noisy & those brakes, jesus, those brakes!

      @@HobartsReviews Update on the regen braking: I use it exclusively, only testing the standard brakes occasionally. I replaced the standard disc brakes with hydraulics (Nutt) just so I have that option. The regen is NOT good for high-speed emergency stops, even at the constant level 10 I keep mine on. Lower speeds, it can't be beat. But at high speed (50kmh+), someone pulls out in front of you or opens a car door, you want to grabe the brake handles, hard. Hydraulics are a huge upgrade to braking in every way, but regen remains my only choice in any other scenario, still, 1400kms later.

      Yes I totally understand what you are saying. But there are a few scooter brands that are really good quality compared to others and deserve to cost a little more. Apollo is one of them. Apollo does offer Affirm so you can break it up into payments to make it more affordable.

    • @NunchucksHabit

      If you have one on pre-order, watch for the price. I paid $2600 CDN for mine - but while I waited, I noticed the price bounced between $2600 & $2100. I still hadn't received mine & noticed the Phantom price down to $2099 CDN, I contacted them & they immediately issued a price-match partial refund. Was going to sulk about not automatically getting this price match (what if I hadn't been watching?), but they did the price match so quickly, politely & without question that I simply can't complain. $2100 CDN is not a huge investment for what you get. I haven't driven my Subaru more than 100kms since April. Bought one tank of gas in February, it's still 3/4 full. Most of my life can be lived within 50kms of home & < 70km/h. If I could pack my scooter as cargo on a plane, I could save thousands in taxi/car rental/public transit fees every season. As long as there isn't snow or ice on the ground, I'll ride the scooter (heated gloves ftw!) 8 to 9 months of the year. No parking to pay, no storage fees (put it against a wall in your home, put the kickstand down = stored).
      The only unplanned expenses I incurred were for tools. I spent about $300 on different tools, another $500 on accessories, battery powered air pump, lights, spare tires/tubes. You need to be able to watch the videos about changing tires/adjusting brakes & be able to do that kind of maintenance yourself. Also good to have a stand you can put the scooter on so you can work on the tires ($130).
      You get the point..

      @@sergiolandz6056 it fluctuates in price since it's on pre-order. I lucked out because of the Pro release, I think. It's back up to like $2600 now.

    I heard bad things about Apollo’s customer service. Is this true?

    • @HobartsReviews
      @HobartsReviews  Před 8 měsíci

      Not in my experience. Yeah every company has their issues but Apollo is one of the better ones in my opinion. And the quality is some of the best I've seen. The Phantom is just a dream to ride!

    Aerospace aluminum is a marketing term lol

      No it's not. I work in aerospace everyday and there are some alloys and specifications used in industrial applications and some used in aerospace applications. So it is a real thing my friend.

    As a personal opinion, you should have clarified that this model is not available anymore with hydraulic brakes...

    • @HobartsReviews
      @HobartsReviews  Před 11 měsíci

      Yeah I wasn't aware until after I filmed the video. I spoke to Apollo and they said all future models will be mechanical brakes. I tried not to mention or focus on them too much.

    Apollo is a High End Scooter but….. it’s OVER PRICED. I prefer Kukirin G2 Max , G3 Pro and New G4

    where is the 60v controller? spring suspension what junk. If your in the market to buy a scooter, do your research get some rebound, adjust suspension, sinewave controllers, and 21700 cells .11inch wheels are just better.

    • @HobartsReviews
      @HobartsReviews  Před rokem

      I have rebound and adjustable suspension and a custom designed controller so it's almost there. Looks like you are talking about the new Apollo Pro. ..haha

      I understand your point. 52V battery and no hydraulic suspension at this price point is a let down. Also, no hydraulic brakes. They started selling the V3 with both mechanic and hydraulic options, then stopped with the hydraulic, because of maintenance issues (official support agent words), meaning, it was causing leakings and issues, so, nope, back to cheap mechanic.
      I'm leaning to a Nami Klima at this point.
      I would get a RoadRunner RS5+ but they are all OEMs (Solar, KuKirin, NanRobot) and that worries me...

      @@HobartsReviews I was about to say the same, they are way too long... maybe keep the transition slides, but, no music... more fluid... cheers
