Texas Speed Stage 2 Cam & Ported Heads + LTH + Flex Fuel = ???

- We recently had the pleasure of doing some big upgrades for a good friend of ours on his 2015 Silverado 1500. We installed a Texas Speed Stage 2 Cam Package, Texas Speed Ported Heads, Texas Speed Longtube Headers, DSX Flex Fuel Kit, Magnaflow Exhaust System, and a K&N Intake. With the big American Force wheels and All-Terrain tires we were able to bang out 357whp and 350wtq on E85!!! If you were to put a stock set of wheels and tires on this truck it would be closer to 390whp!!! Not too shabby for a 5.3 GenV LT!!!
Want more performance out of your ride?!?! Give us a call at 864-603-2010 and find out how!!!

SD Racing... no tricks... no gimmicks... no number fudging... just RESULTS!!!
Great stuff sir! You took your time and made sure everything was right. Not chasing big numbers as some tuners do... pretty on par with what it should make as the stage 2 cam is conservative but very versatile
I have a L83 GenV swapped camaro tsp stage 3 cam DOD/afm deleted, trunnion upgrade hand polished factory heads shorty headers and a cold air kit and it made 390 and didn’t go past 5k on the dyno because of unbalanced 22”wheels no e85 yet… the L83 is a very nice set up it’s more expensive to build but worth every penny. I’m going to put it on E get a intake install a/c and electric power steering and leave it alone for now. It also has a 6l90 and no stall an cruises down the highway like nothing. Im talking under 2k in 6th gear around 70-73 mph, so if you floor it, 140mph in seconds. I got it on with a Busa with a passenger both me and the bike and it COULDN’T get pass me no lie. I love the genV stuff now 😂 and this is my first swap all put together by me.
People don't realize every dyno is different... dyno dynamics and mustang are said to be the most accurate and dynojet is the "standard" because it reads higher and customers live big numbers.. the real test is track times. You can't manipulate that data! This guy's a pro and did a very good safe tune.
@@JKZ103 the way my car sitting it’s fastest pass is 13.0 @110mph if anything the dyno didn’t get to give a accurate evaluation because of stopping the pull at 5k rpm. I understand very well there’s a difference in dyno’s you left out a hub dyno by the way. But most bone stock newer sports cars I have drug down the highway with no problem. I plan to put stock wheels on it when I finally wire in my E sensor just to get a real read from the dyno. I’m sure it’s will rear well of 400rwhp probably around 420-435 RWHP 🤷🏾♂️ we’ll see soon
my 14 5.3 on 93 with a stage 2 tsp cam and 6.2 intake and throttle body, no cats. mad 367hp 363 tq. no porting on heads or intake stock manifolds. that seems kinda low in my opinion, as well as being on a 35 inch mud tire
What dyno?
My truck made 407 hp 386 tq , stage 2 btr cam , cold air intake , full exhaust on 91 octane
On stock wheels and tires on a different brand of dyno. Congratulations for the apples to oranges comparison.....
Impossible! Been in this game way too long to believe that. 335 rwhp tops.
Most of the 6.0s with the better truck norris put down 335 if the build is done right.
The stage 2 won't rpm enough for 400+ rwhp. You'd need 7000+ peak.
How much does it cost for all of those changes?
Everything that we did to the truck would be about $14k
My stock cam l83 silverado put down 342 at the tires with cai long tubes x-pipe e85 and most importantly the tune lol. Did I mention stock heads and cam. Oh yea and I have plain steel wheels with 37 in tires lol
.... and probably a different dyno. Apples to Oranges comparison not applicable here. Have a great day!
Is there just 1 type of option for porting ?
Thinking about getting some ported head for my 2015 5.3 bolt ons
Or do I have to order them to specs ?
Texas Speed has an option to do custom milling but you would have to speak directly to them about it
What is the cam lift?
Don't know off hand but you can see the specs on Texas Speed's website.
Patrick what is that making to the wheels?
I'm assuming that is a 5.3 correct ?
You are correct.
Which tune did you use? I did a stage 2 Texas speed cam and dod delete, had truck tuned with hp tuners, but truck dies sometimes while under around 10 mph and foot not on accelerater...
We performed this custom tune using hp tuners. We have no issues with the truck's drivability. The truck should not be doing that, we would suggest finding a more competent tuner for your application.
Im confused, so you just put e-85 in it with stock pump and lines? Boy" i think i spent way to much money on e-85 Supporting modifications. So how much timing Did you throw at it until gains started becoming Marginal? IAT temp ? Cold air intake? Gear ratio? Because one can Compensate For diameter and wight some. It sounded very lazy, so i was just Curious. My " Orange" is a stock 6.0 in a 93 4×4 6" lift 35's Actually 34.5 MUD TIRE with 488's posie IT IS SPICY! It will lose traction at a standing start stock 300,000 mile converter. Feels like three thousand pounds and 350-400hp. Maybe its because im so fare from the ground? Lol .
Yes, the stock in tank pump is capable of handling the fuel demand for the power of the truck, and you don't have to replace any fuel lines on the newer vehicles to run ethanol. Typically between 5-6 degrees of timing more than 93 octane is where the limit is. He needs different gears for the big tires to help.
What kind of software you guys using for tuning and whats the cost for dyno tuning
We use hp tuners. Current tuning price on something like this is $750.
Did you use the stock injectors or have to upgrade to LT1/ LT4 injectors?
Stock injectors. No need to upgrade unless going for bigged forced induction numbers.
But what about rehearing that should make the truck pull that extra 20-30 Hp
Changing the gears in the diff doesn't change the energy required to move the mass of the wheel/tire setup so there is no increase in horsepower.
@@sdracingllc1594 regearing still helps with big wheels and tires tho does it not?
@@chrishansen7004 Yes it does. It helps bring back some of the acceleration lost but does not actually add any horsepower.
@@sdracingllc1594 what size wheels and tires was the blue truck running while on the dyno so I can keep that in mind before I bring my truck to you all to work on it. So I can go a different Route
@@arkangel2351 22x12 with 33x12.50r22
It's a 2017 1500 6.2 btw
Do you guys do remote tuning or is everything done in house? I don’t have many trustworthy people within 2.5 hours of me and I’ll be doing a btr stage 2 in my 14 here soon. A lifter just collapsed today lol
We can do remote tuning for your truck. Would you be able to send us an email with all the details and we can get the process started for you.

Did you reuse the oil pump?
new oil pump
Trying to do around the same on my ‘17 silverado. L86 manifold and TB, BTR stage 2 w/afm delete, s&b intake, long tubes, HP Tuners TCM, Billet TC, driveshaft upgrade, and running 93…not many gas stations with E85 where I live :\
If I wanted to add a 2.9L whipple later down the road, would I need to change the cam again??
The cam will fine to run with the whipple, just not optimal as it is designed to run in a n/a application.
Do you know if BTR makes a stage 2 cam suitable for the whipple?
@@pat14lang that would be a better question for BTR.
If only I could ever get a response back from them. Thanks
@@pat14lang sorry to hear that
Seriously ? Not sure if thats a 5.3 or 6.0,6.2, but regardless which one the head, cam and longtube headers only added 50-75hp ? I would've thought head and cam should at min give extra 100hp on 93oct total output of 420-450hp or more if 5.3 all others easily over 500hp, but possibly wheels robbed majority extra power made.
Sounds like a 5.3
5.3, and those big heavy wheels and tires soaked up a lot of power.
Damn I got a 01 lm7 it made 428 to the wheel
..... and what was done to it? Without more context it makes it hard to believe that.
Spraying
@@jakechimiak9626 well that would certainly make a difference over n/a, as well as tire size.
Stock torque converter as well?
It is an upgraded unit but a factory stall speed. These trucks have converter issues from the factory.
@@sdracingllc1594 what converter did they go with?
@@MULLET3MAN It is a factory converter with upgraded internals. I am not sure who does the modification.
