I dont have a lot of experience on the Detroit engines..i believe that the water , meth injection helps keep the combustion chamber clean .. There a shop in Canada that builds Cummins and other engines who i believe uses the water injection and black diesel ect in there builds . A far as the armor to protect your hoses i use a product i think its called MGI speed ware in different sizes.. i use it on hoses and wires . Really tough materal . Appreciate the video
Yes the water meth is awesome, really keeps things clean running waste oils. 40,000 miles on used veg oil and no issues.:) Thanks, I'll have a look at that MGI speed ware.:) Always looking for great hose protection.:)
Yes very nice, but they didn't last long until I started to have issues. #2 injector started to give me issues at stopped spraying at idle. Ran into issues with air getting into the system while on diesel. After trouble shooting, one of the supply line clamps broke. I missed this while putting the fuel filter back on, but when I went to tighten it the clamp broke. Not sure this was the root cause, but it ran like crap on the diesel side and would only run on the veg side. Long story short the 7A77's are back in and running like a dream. Another video coming to cover that.:)
@@detroitgarage9430 still plan to put 9g90 back into it after fuel system is sorted out? How did you like power with them in the short stint you had them? More boost too I would imagine?
@@logan1484 Yes definately going to put them back in once I rebuild them. They were very responsive and about 1/2 the throttle travel to get power out of them. I did get time to really test them before I ran into issues. From the short run I did I was impressed, 18-20 PSI boost, up from the 15 psi I have now. Once they're sorted they'll be a nice injector.:)
I Iove this thing man! She sounds so f'n beautiful! And i love that your basically running on fench fry oil & a lil diesel. These older diesels are so great. Im still rocking the ol '00 f250 7.3, zf6, but i love that later '08-'10 - 6.4 style superduty too. Ideally id like a nice bulletproof 6.0, or a '15-'16 deleted 6.7. I'll probably never be able to afford these $100k new 6.7 trucks w\ 500hp & 1200#'tq, but id sure love to be able to....especially deleted, cause that dpf\egr gotta go asap.. Anyways, stay warm up there in BC, its getting damn cold right now!👍🏻👌🏻🛢️⛽🚜🚧🛠️🔧🔩🗜️📐
Thanks, the 7.3 is lengendary, half considering a swap in my 2000 V10 Excursion.:) Yes the 500/1200 new 6.7's are nice, but they are way outside my price range as well. I enjoy running these old beasts and especially running the veg, cheapest vehicle I've ever owned.:)
When dabbling in diesel mechanic classes at the local community college the instructor mentioned fuel delays that used an oil filled cup to slow the rack movement, but nothing about a fuel modulator that uses air box pressure to limit movement. I can only assume the air box pressure control strategy is “newer” /more emissions compliant?
Yes, the Fuel Modulator was used mostly on the turbo engines and the fuel delay mechanism was used on the N engines. The fuel delay was a fixed delay regardless of boost or airbox pressure. The fuel modulator is a far better unit and is tunable as well.:) I haven't looked at the delay units, but probably a decent system.:)
That’s going to be a nice boost in horsepower. Those tips look great! Glad y found the Jake issue. I’ve never had one of those modulators apart. Wonder if the parts diagram shows an o-ring or something in there as a seal. Thanks!!!
Yes very happy with the state of things after running veg for two years.:) I thought there'd be a teflon seal or something, but there's no seal at all. They all leak about the same volume of air, so I left the original unit on the engine. In the big picture it's not a lot of air.:) Compared to the open airbox drain it's small.:)
Forklift is running great and now have the counterweight and roll cage on.:) I've got 10 hrs on it so far and no issues at all.:) I bought the F-550 with a blown 6.4 in August 2022. The plan is to use it for my 1947 Diamond T build. I plan to start that project in a year from now. I'll be doing a video on the next project soon.:) Finishing the 375 CFM Ingersoll Rand compressor.:)
Many rubber hoses are not compatible with the methanol that's in the biodiesel. It eats away the rubber and before long the hose is rotten. I replaced the rubber hose with PTFE which has a plastic liner wrapped in steel braid and nylon over that. Most newer vehicle have ethanol and methanol compatable hoses.:)

What a glorious turbo whistle! I could listen to that for hours.
