This is the way I've always done my sneakers for years now even before I'd seen this video. The only thing is I never put them in the washing machine. I do it in the bathtub and use a scrub brush. Works like a charm! I put my sneakers outside in the sun. I rotate them around too. Then when they are bone dry and the laces are dry I lace them up and it's such a pleasure to put on clean sneakers. Like they are new again and they smell so good too. Quick tip..... I found out that dollar tree has this magic eraser thing that comes in a plastic pack of one single sponge but I use them on the rubber outside sole part of the sneaker and it takes all the dirt off. It works so good too. I suppose you could use regular magic erasers but the one sold at dollar tree is specifically for shoes and has a rougher part in the sponge that gets hard to rub off areas. And not bad for a dollar. I think I did 2 pairs of sneakers with one dollar tree sponge and then it started to break up and had to throw it away but it does the job well.

@@ms.coleman4535 It's the kind that you use on floors or for cleaning the tire of a car. Flat, long . Some come with a handle some without. A scrub brush. I got mines at the dollar tree but you can find them most anywhere. Dollar general, family dollar, Walmart.

This is so through! I especially like the tips of how to dry them in the dryer. However it seems to be a lot of work for the hand cleaning part. I don't have that kind of patience. I usually dust the shoes, take off the laces, then throw them in the wash machine on a normal cycle, they came out clean enough for me. Then I air dry them outside if it is sunny. They look as good as new.

I don’t know if I missed it but, what did you do with the soles of the shoes. You took them out and I noticed you didn’t bag them and when you left with all the bags - the soles where still in the sink. So do you just let them sit in the sink? Can they not go in the washer also? Just curious. Thanks for the video👍🏻

Lots of ways to wash shoes, though I recommend hand washing only as the washing machines can be rough and destructive to shoes. The most difficult part is drying shoes completely. Air drying outside is best. Can also put in a warm room, such as a furnace room. Dryers can be destructive to shoes, unless you have a rack that can keep the shoes from tumbling.

But the idea of getting the insides clean too (and less smelly) is appealing... I just worry that they'll wear out faster this way...

Washing your shoes in a washer is totally Outrageous! I don't care what the shoe label says. Washing shoes like these with heavy/thick soles will for example damage the washing machines drum! So these tips and video is very irresponsible. The glues and adhesives located in different places on/in the shoes maybe will be unaffected by washing the shoes in low temperatures but still its an unnecessary risk. Don't risk your machines life nor your shoes quality of life following this video:/
