  • In November 2023, during my journey through the Arabian Peninsula, I visited Bahrain. The crossing from Saudi Arabia was easy. I opted for a taxi from Dammam, where you just needed to arrive at the bus station, we quickly found a reliable driver. The fare was negotiable, and in the end, the crossing was quite affordable for the three of us.
Manama is a modern city full of hotels, giving off a more European than Arabian vibe. This is partly due to the presence of an American naval base. Nevertheless, it's very easy to buy alcohol here or observe Christmas decorations, which is not entirely common in the Arab world. However, there isn't much to do in Manama besides visiting Souq Bab Al Bahrain market and admiring the Bahrain World Trade Center skyscraper. I would also recommend a visit to the Al-Fatih Mosque - guided tours are free. From my perspective, it's better to head over the bridge to the historical part of Bahrain, specifically to the old town of Muharraq and the nearby Arad Fort.
If you enjoy exploring historical sites, Bahrain is the perfect place for you. You'll find beautiful forts in Bahrain, with Qal'at al-Bahrain being the most stunning in my opinion. Sheikh Salman bin Ahmed Fort offers nice views of the landscape. Insight into local past life is possible at Al Jasra House. A particularly unique sight was the old burial ground, Madinat Hamad 1 Burial Mound Field.
Surprisingly, Bahrain also boasts two beautiful natural sites. The most enchanting is the Tree of Life, growing in the middle of the desert. Nearby is the Dragon Rocks, a rock formation that provides beautiful views of the surrounding landscape, although mostly dominated by oil fields.
In the south, I recommend visiting AlAreen Wildlife Park & Reserve, where you can even feed the animals. Next to the park is the racing circuit for the F1 Sakhir - Bahrain Grand Prix, which you can also glimpse. The south of the island also delights beach lovers with Al Jazair Public Beach. The entrance fee is about 5 USD, but you receive vouchers for refreshments of the same value, making the visit worthwhile even for a limited time.
Thank you for watching the video, and I look forward to seeing you on my next journey.
