  • At the end of January 2014, I embarked on a multi-day adventure to the island of Phuket in Thailand, and I would like to share my experiences with you.
Phuket is a place where exoticism meets tranquility. During my exploration, I discovered that the true heart of the island lies to the south. The icon of the Big Buddha offers breathtaking panoramic views, while the nearby temple Chaithararam, also known as Wat Chalong, invites you to stop and meditate. A visit to Prom Thep Cape is essential for amazing views, and the enchanting Kathu waterfall adds a touch of natural beauty to central Phuket.
In Phuket Town, don't miss Monkey Hill and Khao Rang Hill for stunning views not only of the city. However, be cautious as there are freely roaming mischievous monkeys. Explore the charm of Old Phuket Town, the Jui Tui shrine, and the lively energy of the Lard Yai Sunday Night Market (open only on Sundays). I also recommend visiting the extensive Naka Weekend Market.
Indulge in culinary adventures at the Night Food Market Banzaan, which offers a variety of Thai flavors. The beautiful beaches of Phuket are the highlight, and while popular ones like Patong Beach and Karon Beach are bustling with activity, secluded gems like Kratin Beach and Ao Yon Beach offer a peaceful escape. Although often crowded, Freedom Beach is a testament to its charm. Discover the beauty of Yanui, Kata, Patong, Nai Han, and Karon beaches.
Venture beyond the coastline to the Kao Khad viewpoint tower for a panoramic view of the island. Uncover the spiritual side of Phuket by visiting temples such as Suwan Khiri Wong and Karon Temple. For a comprehensive visual journey, don't miss my video clip from Phuket, capturing the essence of this tropical paradise.
In addition, I took a day trip to the Similan Islands. Although the islands are incredibly beautiful, be prepared for a busy environment with a guide. Consider exploring the Similan Islands National Park for a more personal and intimate connection with this fascinating destination. Just beware, there will be many tourists.
Phuket is primarily a tourist destination, but there are also places practically devoid of people. My stop here was rather relaxing, and I believe that's why most people come to this island. Nonetheless, I recommend exploring at least some other places besides just one beach near the hotel. My video can be an inspiration.
