Her and her father are jokes. I understand that some people fear their parents but to throw their partners' under the bus and not to explain that you weren't kidnapped is ridiculous. Her father is a joke of a man who misdirects the hurt his daughter caused him and is unable to face mistakes he did because his daughter fears him. Why does he treat his daughter like it was his possession and an objectified ex girlfriend he feels someone has to ask for permission to marry.
This isn't a case where Patrick needs to swallow his pride. She needs to decide to set boundaries with her dad, this is an issue for her to sort out-stand up for your partner and family!! If Patrick is expected to constantly kiss his father-in-law's rear in perpetuity it will be the death of the marriage, especially if he's gas lit & manipulated into apologizing for the sake of humiliation.

Itâs a cultural thing. In terms of respect and hierarchy, the father comes before the husband in Brazil.. and no , the dad will never hold Thais accountable because the role of the man is so strong in Brazil, it would fall on the husband and not Thais.
