  • A beginners guide to operating the electronic air suspension on a Range Rover P38A (1994-2001). Here we show basic operation including changing the height setting and include instructions from the owner's handbook. The demonstration is on a 1998 Range Rover 4.0 V8 SE. There are more advanced features to the system, but here only basic operation is considered for a "quick guide".

Mine won't go down to its lowest setting and when I'm driving it's desperate to go to the maximum ride height setting. I've had different pumps in, rebuilt the valve block, new airbags & sensors. I just can't work it out.

I would start by obtaining a suitable EAS diagnosis unit. It should direct you to the fault. Also, it will allow you to calibrate the suspension.

      @@Biggleswhat's the cheapest diagnostic tool

@@BonganiMagadu That is a difficult question to answer as it depends on your location. In my experience “cheap” diagnostic tools tend not to work. However, in the case of the P38 and specifically for its EAS module, there is an inexpensive diagnostic tool specifically for the job. If you search the likes of eBay for “P38 EAS suspension fault code reset and diagnostic PC tool” there are OBD 2 style plug wire with a PC USB interface to read EAS codes. This in the UK costs around £25 and is an essential tool. The software lets you diagnose and clear codes and calibrate the suspension. I recommend it highly.

In that case you will easily find the EAS tool on eBay UK, I recommend having a look there.
