      yea it really is. especially since children are usually seen as overimaginative and illogical something like this as a horror idea just works so well.

      @xd_uhavebigbad1235 yeah the way they portray the horror is really something too, it also gives a chance to the victims to decode what the children say and perhaps find a weakness or immunity of sort, it's the perfect horror as it gives potential hope and still keeps you on your toes

      It is quite the terrifying thing. And I can be quite fine with a voice of reason type ghost following a kid around, despite being terrifying to look at. It'd probably take a single person showing regular or even above average perception to immediately gain such a ghost's trust. "He's...paying attention. He's connecting the dots...! You can trust him, you can trust him!"

      I want to say, this is one of my favorite analog horrors I've seen! Too many focus on shocking the audience or making it mysterious. You made a really great narrative that was horrifying without being too gross or graphic, with really likeable characters, unique story telling, and an actual happy ending and resolution!!! Well done and thanks for making it!

      Yeah I don't think it's such happy ending. The Clarks were never exposed. Cool, this family made it. But what about the others ?
      The families of the kids that died ? Of those who got trafficked?
      They will keep looking and wonder and get mentally tortured for years.
      What about the kids who didn't die bc they tried to escape or bc of an overdose ?
      Those hundreds of kids who got trafficked to pedos and organ harvesters ?
      This end just means the Clarks retired but the trafficking ring is still operating with other 'providers'.
      Them never exposing the Clarks ment no investigations into their finances or activities.
      I think that's absolutely neither a true ending or a good ending at all. Ppl are focused on Jess bc she was the main character.
      But she was just one kid.
      What leaves a bad taste in my mouth is that is happening somewhere all over the world.
      You could be passing a house down the street and not know there's a kid there begging for someone to notice and help them.
      But no-one ever comes and then they get sold and meet a fate worse than death until they run out their usefulness and get disposed of.
      Human beings are much more horrifying than ghosts, that's the true horror story.

    Jess in this story genuinely made me want to sob, she was so kind. The state of these children was obviously absolutely horrific and yet she still gave her voice to see them so she could give them some semblance of peace by being their friend. Mia in my opinion has one of the gruesome states and Mia was her closest friend, because children have so much love in their hearts and Jess was able to channel that love to help these poor children. I also found it honestly more heavy then you’re typical analog horror because it’s not about mindless murder or anything it’s about /trafficking/. These children weren’t just murdered they where /trafficked/ they wherent killed with purpose their deaths where considered /collateral/. That’s so tragic to me. Especially some of them like Shelly where she DIED by the Clark’s poor and mediocre attempt to “calm” her with H3R01N?!?! She was collateral, a test that “taught” them how much they could give before these children died. That’s all she was. A lesson. Not a life, a statistic. And Kate. Oh my god Kate. She obviously actually made it through the “system”, I imagine most of these kids died from drugs and some earlier then others but it seems to me Kate spent the longest in that hell, hence the hands for everyone that hurt her. I imagine she probably actually has a apalling amount of hands but there’s only so many that fit on a piece of paper or that Jess could draw. Because they’re all general images not picture photos. Kates state in general tells me that there are probably a lot more hands then drawn and imagining a kid living through that hell and seemingly not being able to die and then even after the finale moment that’s supposed to be freedom, there you are. Under a house. And all you have is your rage to give you company. This is so much more tragic to me then mindless killing, both are tragic but for me personally things like this rip my heart out and stomp on it.

  • @daysand123
    @daysand123 Před 10 měsíci +19

    "Katie has a hand for every hand that hurt her"
    That is between the borders of cryptic and fact so hard its even more unsettling with the fear of the unknown. There are many awful guesses as to what was done. And the fact it implies probably more than just a couple pairs of hands means the situation is far more fucked up than anyone could guess.

    I love how the story told through Jess’ drawings leaves the visuals for the events to be left up to your imagination. Sure, some parts of the story were pretty cheesy. Like, it’s kinda unrealistic for Jess to draw the children’s memories in such a way that the pictures can be rearranged to perfectly recreate the scene. This is one of the few analog horrors I could actually see thriving in other mediums outside of CZcams videos. The story itself is coherent, well-written, with enough intrigue to keep you going but straightforward enough the plot twist doesn't come from nowhere, but rather had all the clues well-placed. A lot of analog horrors I've seen tend to intentionally be misleading with their information to make the solution difficult to find, but in the process make the story drag on and feel hard to grasp without consuming every piece of media attached. The Children Under the House doesn't suffer from the same issues and I could genuinely see it adapted as more than just a book and still do really well. Kudos to the creator for achieving that in today's analog horror scene!

    'The Children under the house' was such a terrific story. It had it's suspense, the drama, the climax, the plot, the whole sha-bang!! There were scary moments, sad moments, even happy moments. I was glad it wasn't all just scary horror stuff. There was more substance to it. I don't know, it's just hard explain why I love it so much. And I'm glad it got a happy ending. Some stories, they have good plot, the horror is great but when the bad guys don't get punished at the end of the day it just isn't satisfying enough. Truly a masterpiece,

    This analog horror was so good. There was so much personality, it was such a unique format of story telling, and it wasn’t just horror. There was sadness, hope, loss, disgust, and even happiness. The slow realization at what happened to the children (like Kate with the many hands of those who hurt her, aka SA) and then seeing them finally get the closure they wanted so badly. Julia was an amazing narrator (both the character and voice actor).
    I’d love to see a movie like this or even one with this plot

  • @deathlyshuriken1540
    @deathlyshuriken1540 Před 10 měsíci +12

    What Ryan said about the words of kids holding a certain, very ominous side is very true. (Story warning, btw)
    I recall the day my grandmother passed over a year ago, my Nana, as my niece knew her. Her death was unexpected and tragic, and it weighed heavily upon the entire family. Luckily, she was almost two, and didn’t have to understand anything. We came home from the hospital that night, before my mother and sister in law (My niece’s mother) put her to bed. And before they got started, she started fixating on a certain point in the room.
    Suddenly she would whisper “Shh! Nana’s sleeping…”
    If that was the only really bizarre instance of my niece being herself, then sure. But on that day, the day she “went to sleep,” That stuck with me forever. And weeks after that, when I was playing with her as normal, she claimed that Nana talked to her on the phone, and that she told her to “not be sad.” No story has ever given me worse chills than that, because my niece still a year later knows nothing about where Nana is or went or what happened to her. Yet somehow, she knows that she’s sleeping, and that we shouldn’t be sad about it.
    So yes. The words that children say, coincidence or not, grounded in reality or their own fictitious mind, they carry a weight that is truly bone chilling at times.

    Throughout this entire story, I have to say that I was genuinely terrified, and two I really felt that something was special about it, which there was. It was unique, incredibly well written and thought out and I could almost see some of it coming relatively quickly but it felt so different, felt like it got worse and worse, and you just couldn't wait for it to get better. This was mostly meant for the analog and talking over the phone, through tapes over the years, etc. etc. But man, oh man do I just feel like films like this need to be represented whether in a movie, a video game, anything really. This is the shit horror movies are missing nowadays, something that really is scary, something that really does have that fire to, something that does have that genuine passion and fear. Also, great vid Ryan, glad you can help spread masterpieces like this.
