- Pardon the voiceovers, had to fix some scenes that got destroyed by wind. The day I filmed this car was one of the worst I've been through in a while, thanks! In this video I give a full in depth tour of the 2009 Cadillac XLR-V. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

Almost 10 years later and still a gorgeous car! Please Cadillac make another one!
The XLR is an interesting concept. I feel like the current C7 Corvette is luxurious, but I can see a very refined (more GT like) version XLR based on the C7 platform. Could be a good rival to the likes of the Mercedes SL & BMW 6 coupe.
that is a great idea!!
Trades46 it would be a great way to keep the C7 platform
-very well stated. Cadillac needs an XLR 2nd addition ! Just think; XLR ll. XLR-V ll , ( second addition ); essentially same car with 2021 updates !
They both sit on the same chassis, same frame
Man i wish Cadillac hadn't discontinued the XLR i love it! Beautiful car!
this is one of the most beautiful cars i've ever seen
That's gotta be one of the coolest convertible tops I've ever seen.
Pfff... dude watch "honda crx delsol electric roof"
@@ZettoMedia Rudimentary, but still effective.
@@Browningate Wow... replying to a comment on a comment you left 5 years ago. Thats pretty impressive lol.
@@christophercott8517 It shouldn't be, but I'll take it. Legacy FTW.
I can’t believe this video is almost 11 years this following month. I remember watching these videos back in the day. I really like your car reviews and the cars you used to show.
The quality is actually very good! My wife has an SL550 and you have to push the button inside the car to adjust to another driver, the XLR sets up everything (seats, outside mirrors, radio stations, HVAC, steering wheel) depending which FOB it sees as you open the door. All those things are set automatically in the XLR. None of which are setup in the Benz.
R u guys still married????
Wish Cadillac/GM had not of killed the XLR.
Frank Gonzalez
same i loved the xlr. My Grandpa has one
Frank Gonzalez o
They killed it with that pos North star bet if they put a Lsa it still be here
I wish they didn't kill North Star engine too
Cadillac should bring this car back- pretty much the same; only include the usual refinements since 2004/ 2009. The styling and appearance are timeless and the potential for demand immeasurable, for this beautiful "head turner" !.
Definitely unique styling. Almost like a CTS and a C5 Corvette had a baby.
Sure, it's so beautiful!
Great video! It is a shame Cadillac has it no more in production
Love those LEDs it has , this car was ahead of its time , wish Cadillac would bring it back
that engine note sounds great on camera, must sound amazing in person
These were automotive masterpieces.
Thats a big stretch.
@@darrengarcia4937 Not really
The exterior of the car looks GORGEOUS!! Man I LOVE THOSE LINES!! Very sexy car.. but the interior looks so damn boring.... Just my opinion.
No, not just your opinion. You're absolutely correct.
It’s gm, and this is specifically gm after the recession. Lol
By far one of the most sexiest cars ever design. I would honestly pick this over a new Corvette.
I love the Cadillac STS-Vs as well. GM actually did a good job with the engine and was smart enough to put something more than a 4 speed auto.
I love these cars, so sick! My favorite design ever! Love the supercharged 32v Northstar!
Ian Thompson lol says no one ever 😂😂😂
says someone with 8 less likes than him
me too
Completely agree with you on the design .
Me too !!!
that navigation configuration screen is the exact layout that I had in my '02 Cadillac DTS
Yes correct it is the exact same head unit also available on the Deville DTS. Remember the XLR was introduced late 2003 and went through 2009. These were standard on the XLR cars.
I'm slightly surprised to see that the early-2000s first-generation navigation head unit survived all the way to 2009. This had to be the absolute last GM product to still use it. Ironically enough, it was the entry-level CTS, costing much less than half of what this car stickered for that got the General's best touchscreen head unit.
Love it or hate it, I think the XLR-V will become somewhat of a future collector's car. They are very rare - only 2,188 XLR-V's were ever made. Depreciation has hit these hard, but not as hard as the cars it competed against (SL AMG, XKR, M6, etc.). Current prices vary greatly depending on year, color, and mileage - anywhere from mid $20k's to mid $50k's. Photos and video do not do this car justice. The flat body panels are hard edges make this car really stand out in person.
I agree. New it was 100,000+ car 12 years ago!
Depreciation? Depends all on the milegage. These are rare indeed, even ultra rarer here. Especially the XLR-V. 38525 miles for 45k
Black Raven exterior, such an appropriate color name for this car.
The hardtop opening reminds me of the old-school cassette-tape players with the 'soft eject.' Press the button and and see how slooooooooow it opens.
Enjoyed the video, great job on showing the details of this car.
What a beautiful car! Great vid as always Kyle!
It's interesting how some people find the XLR lines attractive and others do not....and it's not always a young man/old man thing. I'm in my sixties and I love both the XLR and the current iteration of the Corvette while some of my similarly aged friends only like the Corvette. I'm currently looking at XLR V's with an eye to buying one soon. I couldn't afford the original $110,000 price tag (well, actually I could but my kids wouldn't have gone to college) but I now can afford the $30 to 40k for a toy without feeling guilty. I'm riding my Harley less and less as my bones get stiffer and stiffer and i find I'm driving my Hemi powered Ram like a Corvette so why not try driving an XLR V like a Corvette?
Derek Heuring Interesting I'm in my 30's I absolutely loved the original car based off the c5 chassis but the only offered in the North star/automatic transmission configuration pretty much nurtured any balls and real enjoyability to be had from the xlr. Sad really it could have been a cool sorta car, hell your already using a c5 chassis why take away the best parts of the c5? I'm saying Jesus if you had to have an overlycomplicated quad cam North star engine at least offer a manual transmission!? But nope. Regular car reviews says it all best! Must watch if haven't already!!!! Hilarious stuff, but true as ever.
Have you bought one?
I'm 23 and I just went from a jaguar xk8 to a Xlr and I'm in love the xk8 coupe is amazing tho
In my 20s, i have a 4 Blackwing and would love this as a classic
this is the best channel i have watched about the cars , in this channel we find the car that you are looking for , every car in every moment , thanks guy for all the cars and all the reviews :D
One of the most beautiful cars ever made.
I just ran across your video. You did an awesome job showing us around the car. I really appreciate your work. Thank you.
its not meant to be a corvette substitute, its an old mans car, like me. And it does quite well in that area. Im sure you can read all sorts of reports on performance but until you drive one, you don't know what reality is. Mine is a 2006 and will outrun my 1996 corvette with LT4 engine, with super chip and 365 hp. However, the XLR V is no contestant when compared with later model corvettes. But it doesn't have to be. They are not engineered nor planned to sell to the same customer. Mine does 20 consistently city and 26 on the road with hills 30 on flat ground and sometimes better. But its not engineered to be economy car, nor boulevard runner. Its an old guys car, a toy to play with.
bill45colt it's a Northstar. Awful, awful engine.
never had a problem with mine,,,,maybe it will fall apart tomorrow,,,who knows??
bill45colt I have 2 dts northstar 175k on one no issues, other one has55k no issues
bill45colt I was told my 2005 CTS-V is an old man's car. I think us old guys do very well with these V series Cadillacs.
bill45colt d
Oooohhh i love the sound of that exhaust
Thanks from a french guy who love your channel, espcially when you show us cars like this !
Never saw a v series in person. Thanks for the review!
Favorite car ever. Cross country road trip would be an absolute dream come true 🏁
Such a good looking car, always loved these, love how angular everything is :) thanks for the tour.
I never actually commented on your videos ,and i think i saw them all. Simply brilliant job brother!
But this is something special ,as a european ,freakin' love this car!
So stylish and unique ,it's my fave Caddy of them all!
Thanks for showing it to us!
And keep it up ,your videos are a pleasure to watch!
Cheers from Romania.
amazing review! thanks!
My uncle just got one. The sound it truly amazing.
I love this car! It's a luxurious sport car, gorgeous
I saw an XLR the other day they very beautiful in person even the older ones are still gorgeous to this day.
That car is absolutely beautiful!
Well done, Sir.
I've been on a 'get a Corvette' for retirement mode for a long time...ever since I decided a Harley wasn't the best move for that.
One of my fellow Bus Drivers has an XLR and she LOVES IT. I will contact her soon for a 'test drive', but I think I've made up my mind.
I will persue this particular model, the 2009 XLR-V for my choice as my personal retirement cruiser.
"I bought this 'cuz they quit building PONTIACS."
fabulous exterior!
Just saw one of these today, and I just got around to this video 2 days ago.
AWESOME CAR
thanx kyle !!
This is the young man’s Cadillac!
Nice ride .
I've always liked these & you rarely see them so they stand out whenever you do come across one
Good job ! Very nice !
What a car, what a sound...
Looks quite smooth.
Man I love your videos
Great Video man!
rare vehicle and pretty cool design.
Beautiful
amazing caddy!
I see these alot where i work.. Nice freaking car!
I just saw one like this today in GA. It looked bad ass.
what a sound!! WOW!!!!
Love this car!!!
I'm the very happy owner of an '08 "V." The transmission is 6-speed, not 5, the top takes 28 seconds to open, not all that long, and you don't have to have your foot on the brake to activate the top. It's a GREAT car in many ways. The "V" has a hand-built Northstar engine, the base XLR does not. They were over $100,000 when new, the base XLR was just over $70,000. The gas mileage is better than what was mentioned in the video, but not by much.
Is it reliable?
NICE!!!! I want one of these one day. I love cadillacs!!!
Same here!!
You gotta love them northstar engines....and to have made one with a supercharger makes me want one even more! they are the best man!!
Bigluxurycar 69 I know I know!! :) I always loved the Northstar V8. I'm never going back to anything less than a 32 Valve V8. :)
beautiful car
FANTASTIK CAR!
terrific car.
neat car, never seen one before this video.
kyle was this at the auctions?, appears to eb looking at the writing on the window. love thework my frined, keep it. up. niticed you have over 50 MILLION video views. congrats :)
GOURGOUS CAR !!!! Stay Strong.....Peace
BEST car ever in this class and way better than a corvette!!! Love a Cadillac that is a real Cadillac and being powered by Cadillac and no one else!
that sounds great
I love this car ...
I really miss you playing songs from the radio (and XM) during your vids, that's one of the things that made them cool, Kyle. But I understand why you had to stop.
thanks again, kyle
WOW THAT stock EXHAUST IS INSANE :D
Thanks for bringing us this one! I love the XLR drop top action so different than BMW and others.
If you want a little friendly advice about sound I am one of the main people on sound crew at our church. I would suggest either getting someone to mic you with a shotgun mic and windscreen or if you want to continue to do solos just get a high quality voice recorder and use a lapel mic and windscreen. Of course that will make exhaust clips hard :) I would use a shotgun. pm me if interested
Awesome Engineer !
Good video, keep this up. :)
i saw one of these cars swerving in and out of cars like crazy when i was going to long island ny
Amazing car.
That screen is smoother and more responsive than most modern systems
Very well made sports tourer
that is such an interesting car
I'm getting one! :)
Such a nice car mate def would import one 2 Australia, chicks would love it
Cadillac bring back the xlr v!!!! it would be so awesome with modern cues
I'd love to attain this car someday.
Like a fancy Corvette?
Ketchup With my Mustard Corvettes are a lot better.
@@grabber_blu_angel how?
@@thesemfnnutts Because they don't have a Northstar.
I'm British and I personally love the way these things look and sound. I wouldn't take everything Jeremy Clarkson says as gospel either, he pre-judges and slates a lot of things which are actually very good.
Very cool
The exhaust sounds like thunder. made me say god damn!
Quite a lot here in Texas, Southern TX that is. And I agree with Bagadaboats.
THIS IS GOING TO BE MY FIRST CAR LET'S GOOOO THANK GOD
Young C Must be great to have rich parents, also insurance will be in-fucking-sane.
Very cool 😎
Oczywiście wielki wóz!
If I had to buy a roadster/convertible I'd certanly get a XLR or V even! what a beautiful sound!!!!!!
its like a corvette but all dressed up for a fancy party lol
pretty nice car
Actually, it's a 6-speed auto. Same 6 speed (6L80) used in the C6 corvette. The base XLR got the 5-speed, I believe.
The c6 had a 4l65e 4 speed trans
Yes I think the later models had the 6 speed, I believe the 08/09
I want the 2005 one soooo bad
yes, I respect some hondas. not the 98 civic hx with an exhaust and plastic body kit and spoiler, but just 106 hp. I love the proper V-TEC turbo engines like in the S2000 and Civic TYPE-R. Those things produce power and rev to 9000 rpms. and with a proper 6 speed manual, they are truly fun to drive
@saabkyle04 I love the channel you're doing just fine its a gift that you take time to even do these vids. You could record them on VHS for all I care lol
