  • Remove the Door Panel and Replace the Outside Mirror on a 2014 thru 2018 Nissan Rogue. If the exterior mirror on your Rogue needs to be replaced, you need to remove the door panel first, then you can replace the outside mirror. Tessa and I show you how to do both in this video. Below is a link to the mirror I bought. You'll need to paint the outer shell on the replacement mirror to match your Rogue's paint. I recommend using Dupli-Color touch up paint for this along with Dupli-Color clear coat. Thanks for watching!

    Your instructions was spot on. It took me 10 minutes. Thank you for saving me $130 the dealership was going to charge me for installation. It was a total of $600 they were quoting me with parts and labor. I went to the junkyard and found one that matched my 2014 dark gray rogue . Cost $81. Thanks again. Awesome

    I know someone asked this already, but I saw that it was 3 weeks ago, so I was wondering if you knew if this worked for a 2019 model. Thanks for watching, Giselle! If your door panel looks the same as the one in the video, the process is identical. If it looks different (some models do), you may have to figure out which panel gives you access to the screws, but even with a different panel, the process should be almost the same as we show here. Let me know if I can help. Thanks again!!

    Thank you for this video! Any advice on removing the side mirror cover without damaging it in order to replace the signal light?

    • @dwcoffey
      @dwcoffey  Před 3 lety

      Hi Brandon, thanks for watching! I've seen people take a plastic trim tool or even and old debit card and pry them off from the outside, slowly working around the perimeter of the cover. I don't like this method because it is easy to break the clips, but, some like doing it that way and have no problems. I would release the clips that hold the cover on by going around the perimeter of the mirror glass with a flashlight and a screwdriver, being careful to not pry against the edge of the glass. If you aim the mirror down, then release the top tabs, aim the mirror up and then release the bottom tabs, you should have enough room to see and find the tabs. Insert a trim tool, plastic putty knife, old debit card etc into the gap as you release tabs, so they do not latch again as you release the others.

      @dwcoffey  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Jenie, thanks for watching! Yes, you should definitely be ok doing that. We had to paint and replace the cover because the original one was busted up. Your old cover should snap right into the new mirror.

    Excellent video, thank you! You mentioned at 12:05 that to take the color skin guard off the back of the mirror is more difficult because it would require taking the actual mirror out to release the tabs. Have you tried or know how? Is it possible to carefully pry the guard off simply from the outside? I want to replace my entire mirror fixture but use the factory blue skin guard from the original mirror and install that on the after market mirror. Think its doable at home?

    • @dwcoffey
      @dwcoffey  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for watching, Ricky! The easiest way I have found is to take a long slotted screwdriver, preferably with a small diameter shank. Shine a light between the mirror and the housing (around the outside perimeter of the mirror glass itself), and you will see the tabs that hold the color-keyed skin to the back of the mirror housing. You can release those tabs with the screwdriver and thus remove the skin. Just be careful to not pry against the edge of the mirror glass. It sounds more complicated than it is...if you have somebody to hold the light for you, it's not too bad.

    • @rickyhayes1600
      @rickyhayes1600 Před 3 lety +1

      @@dwcoffey thanks for the advice. I was able to remove it pretty easily. Taking your time is the key thing as after all, it's pretty thing plastic. Just used a credit card to get along the seems and then a flathead. Waiting on the new mirror assembly now but hopefully saved about $300 not taking it to the dealership.

    Does anyone know bout replacing the actual mirror itself? And the process....

    • @dwcoffey
      @dwcoffey  Před 3 lety

      Hi Mariah, thanks for watching! I've seen people do that but it is not a simple process. The only way I've seen it done is to heat the mirror glass itself with a heat gun, then pry it off the mirror holder behind it. Clean off the glue, by heating it and scraping. Then gluing the new mirror in place. I think it would be simpler to replace the whole mirror, as in this video, but that is only my opinion.
