  • We spoke with Mobileye's Barak Beitner, Technical Marketing Engineer, about current and future technology from Mobileye to power driver's assistance features. We also talked about the differences in a hands on vs. hands off vs. eyes off system. It was really fascinating and easy to see why many consider Mobileye to be the true leader in ADAS technology.

Thanks for this. Interesting to see Mobileye's vision for the future of hands off ADAS with more clarity.

The hands off and eyes off distinctions were pretty neat. It seems a lot easier to explain ADAS to people using that terminology than Levels.

Good point about the swerving thing Patrick. I wonder just how good self driving cars are with swerving to avoid that block of wood with nails sticking up. Just wondering. If I took some rope and tied mobileye guys hands behind his back, how hard would it be for him to speak? 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

I've been talking more and more with my hands lately. Maybe it rubbed off on me. LOL

Good salesman - he managed to make being geo-fenced sound like a good thing…
    …shame it doesn’t scale.

Pretty much every major player in autonomous driving is using geofencing as part of their Operational Design Domain when it comes to robotaxis and there are multiple companies now offering actual robotaxi service. They are not promising a million robotaxis by the end of 2020, but at least they have some actually deployed.

@@fredbloggs5902 That sounds like another "1 million robotaxis" prediction.

My guess: Mobileye compared to Tesla is like VW compared to Tesla. They do have experience and they do make some progress and have a good chance to persist for some time, but they are far behind.

@@fsbbs Not sure any of those analogies hold water. Check out some other videos on their robotaxis and their Supervision system.

03:36 ‘Millions of vehicles harvesting data’…
…Sorry, I’m not convinced, please provide a source for the number other than a slick salesman.

There are tons of sources that reference the amount of data Mobileye is collecting. Just a couple of examples:
