The dermatologist is not completely right, he said minoxidil does not regrow hair it just keeps it so that would be good for 19-20 years old balding, but that is not true finasteride is the one preventing hair loss, and minoxidl helps to grow hair, he said minoxidil does not have side affects since its topical well now you can find finasteride topical application too, at least in the UK
I want to add some more points here. Finasteride is the one which keeps the hair from falling our by extending the anagen phase of hair follicles. Topical and Pill both have the same effects on systemic DHT levels and both does the same thing. Applying topical is not going to reduces side effects or permanent damage due to local application.
Topical finasteride is an attempt to make it sound less fierce but infact it is worse than oral prescription. Well-renowned doctors avoid topical because it is easy to over apply resulting in taking higher dosage where it is hard to accidentally overdose on pills.
I would swear it is not worth taking.

There is no alopathic medicine that does not have side effects . Hence, the solution is to not use any medicines without consultation with doctors.

There is a massive différence between common side effect that resolve after cessasing of the treatment and long lasting disabilating condition which is Post Finasteride Syndrome
Even if u go to the doctor, he will take the consultation fee and write down fins 1 mg and minox ...most of the doctors dont even mention the side effects nor do regular checkups for side effects

Side effects are only in 2-3percent peoples, Side effects of finasteride are temporary once you stop dosage they are reversible.ypu can take finasteride for 5 to 6 months for better results .

I am 23 rn, last year i consulted a dermatologist he suggested me as i am already taking minoxidil for 6-7 months and i am balding even more he prescribed me finasteride i was already aware of the possible side effects but to look i decided to start on finasteride i definitely saw decrease in my libido, my decision making got affected and don't why i was not feeling so stopped the medicine 2 months back and i have started feeling that confidence back

@@dearcomrade766 Every individual is different and so are hormones. If u are interested in topical finasteride go for it...here only positive thing is it controls hair loss and can see some amount of density compared to previous set of our hair. But the negative is...
1. No morning woods
2. No Erections
3. Penis does not work at all
4. It affects our self confidence
These are the side effects faced by me.... It took me actually more than 1 year to overcome this. Its an hell of a year for me. But now sideeffects are reversed and no more sexual problems
Doctors would prescribe multivitamin and second minoxidil & finastride directly.
There is no other cure for androgenetic allopecia other then hair transplant.
Hair transplant bhi proper cure nahi hai uske baad bhi medical therapy continue Krna padega.

I am using Minoxidil 5% and Finasteride 0.2% topical solution-1 ml in the morning and 1 ml at night daily. During the first two months, I experienced heavy hair fall, but after two months, the hair fall has decreased, and I can see new baby hair growth. However, the new hair is not dense and is quite small. My question is: What is the recommended dose of Minoxidil and Finasteride
I have seen so many people taking fenasteride. Koi prblm nhi huyi. Hair fall rul gaya. No sexual effect.

He needs to specify if those side effects were pertaining to topical application or intake.
Both... Topical and Pills have systemic DHT reduction. There is no shortcut to minimize side effects. Lowering the dose will not stop fall.. Nuking your DHT level prevents further hairloss but renders your penis dead.
both, your body will absorb in both the cases.
A simple rule..if you are taking finastride..use microdoses no need for 1mg per day. It has dose dependent logarithmic effect which means 0.25mg per day is only as effective as 5mg of finastride

There are many people who got permanent sexual dysfunction from finasteride.
Not only finasteride there are some antidepressants which cause the same issue.

Doctors become wilfully blind when it comes to side effects of medicine
Bro we cannot work with anecdotal reviews. If you are doing great with finasteride, then I envy you. However it is not the case for the rest of us. Some people rely more on DHT for proper bodily functions especially on the sexual side.
Things like PFS and ED are well observed and recorded in finasteride users (PFS not that much). It is simply not worth taking imo. If you are looking for qualification to talk on this matters, just rememeber... Doctor are salespersons these days. They are keen to sell drugs than to actually solve issues.

wait, i want to just give a simple analogy of pharmacology, some people would have the best results with Telmisartan - a potent an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), some would find Nifedipine - a powerful calcium channel blocker, but on many these would cause edema in the foot and so on.... so doctors switch them to diuretics or olmesartan.
that doesn't negate the fact, that Telmisartan or Nifedipine are harmful, its just that our genes make it possible for us to adapt to which drugs to metabolize and which not to!
So, if Finasteride is causing you ED that does not mean that it affects everyone, i have had no issues with it, in fact, i am also having oral minoxidil and have seen great results.

Today I was watching a lot of instagram reels and was at the verge of taking finasteride.. Man the media is so fucked up
bhai i am also going bald and hair turning grey even at 20 years but still embrace your own look rather than going for those medicines. they are temporary and the moment you stop taking them they will make you lose all of your head hair. rather go for hair transplant if you have money because at least you wont have to take medicines with such side effects. and to be honest i dont even need hair to impress anyone because i dont care about anyone else.
try to gain some confidence instead and be happy with yourself and maintain good diet and do regular exercises
If you go for hair transplant they will give you finastride. You will have to support it via medicines..hair do fall after transplantation as well. You gotta manage the situation same like a person who manages diabetes and BP

Doctor consultation is not enough.. The dermat who diagnosed me (well renowned one from my city) prescribed me dutasteride and finasteride for 6 months at a high dosage. 0.5mg Dutasteride, 2ml 10% Minox + 0.1% topical finasteride at night and 2ml Saw palmetto topical in the morning.. Taking that for 1 day literally shutdown my libido for an entire week.
I went and I did my research and I found the dosages are too high and if I were to use it, I would have gone permanently infertile in like couple years. Even if you take lesser dosage, it would catch up to you and give all the sides in years. You need to take a comprehensive blood work including total testosterone, free testosterone, total DHT, free DHT, SHGB and even more I cant remember and you need to monitor these levels every 3-4 months to make sure you are doing alright.. If possible get consultation from multiple doctors.
If you cant do any of these, brace yourself and prepare for the baldness. Embrace it. No one gives a shit if you go bald. If you think woman not going to like you because of that , then you are wrong.. Lose heavy belly and gain heavy pockets. That would do.
