    Hey Gangrene, thank you so much for this video, it helped me a lot and I really appreciate your effort for the editing process!! I was so desprate understanding this system but now I think I have a clear overview!
    I just have some follow up questions: I am an erasmus student and I will study in Paris starting from September 2021, I already got the acceptation from the university of my home country but I still have to wait for the acceptance of the Sorbonne University in France, that beeing said, I still dont have the immatriculation number... can I still aplly or should I wait for the accaptance which I will recieve in about one month ? Im so afraid that all the good appartments will be gone until then..

      Hi Tamilla, thank you for your question. I think if you want to apply for a residence asap you can just upload every document you have first, open an account & apply for your preferred residence, then go back to fill in the missing information afterwards. Most likely you will be notified if they required any additional info.
      I would suggest applying first, since you are not required to make any payment in advance as an international student, you won't lose anything (except maybe your time) even if your application is rejected, but might need to repeat the whole application procedure again
      The following link might also help a bit:

    Hello! Thanks for the insightful video! Can I ask where is the garbage disposal and is there a need to do recycling? As well as where is the laundry room, and lastly is there a cafeteria inside the crous? Thank you so much!

    • @gangrenefantasia4936
      @gangrenefantasia4936  Před rokem

      Hi there, my apologies for the late reply. For my stay in Residence Bercy, I usually take the garbage to the collecting station on the ground floor inside the building. They have recycling bins in the station for glass / plastic bottles etc.
      The laundry room is on the 3rd or 4th floor there I think, it could be different for other residency.
      As for cafeteria, Residence Bercy does not have one. I have visited another Crous residence nearby and it appears that they don't have that too. However I think Crous does have their cafeteria at certain locations / universities, you might want to check if they put any relevant information on their website.

    Thank you so so much for this video, you are a lifesaver! I'm going to France to study this September and I'm starting my research on all things accomodations now. I have one question though, the student visa requires a place of stay so do I rent my crous apartment before it? But does the crous website require a visa to rent an apartment?
    Sorry, that part of this process confuses me the most, could you help?

    • @gangrenefantasia4936
      @gangrenefantasia4936  Před 4 měsíci

      Hi, I believe the Crous website does not need a visa to open an account for renting apartment, but you would still need 1) a document from your School/Uni in France as proof of you studying there, 2) Student ID card / documentation for that

    Hi Gangrene, I got accepted to stay at CROUS Bercy. How do you think of the safety around that area? Is there anything I need to be careful of? Thank you!

    • @gangrenefantasia4936
      @gangrenefantasia4936  Před 9 měsíci

      Hi thanks for your question. I think its still ok to go to any places nearby during the day. The train station nearby Gare de Lyon is a huge railway station with lots of people coming and going everyday (and thus quite often there will be securities & patrolling armed forces around). It's also pretty close to the Seine and you may see people strolling along the river in the day.
      It's mostly a residential area so expect maybe less people in the streets during holidays / office hours. Most restaurants and shops are closed by 8-9pm as I recall (maybe later for cafes near Gare de Lyon), and there are not much bars/pubs around so you can also expect less pedestrians after 7-8pm etc. Still it's a short walk from the railway station to the residence, so it gives more option for you to go back even if you are out late.
      You can also refer to the comments below from about 2 months ago regarding strangers entering the building. I would avoid going to the fire escape late at night if possible. But I've never been in any dangerous situation during my 1 year stay there.
      Anyway I would say it's mostly a safe area in the day, and also pretty ok at night if you stay vigilant and avoid dark alleys if you are a girl who looks 100% a foreigner (like me). It's a great place to be at, enjoy your stay there!

    I'm Akil. Thank you for your video.
    Recently I have a got a Studio/T1 apartment of 18m square from crous for 350/- excluding Electricity in Nantes. But in the invitation, there was 360 virtual tour for T1, 20m square room in that apartment. Whether both 18 and 20m room are same or different from one another.?? Will it be good?

    • @gangrenefantasia4936
      @gangrenefantasia4936  Před rokem

      Hi Kumar, my apologies for the late reply. I believe a 18m square will not be much different from a 20m square room, given that if all the furniture / facilities available in the room are similar (e.g. bed, desk, bathroom, kitchenette, fridge). You can imagine a 2m square difference would probably be like a space you can cover with 4x2 steps (width & length). I am guessing from your description that the apartment does not have virtual tour for a T1 square, so it would probably be better to look into details if their website include any detailed description of facilities available in the room.

      Hi Emma, at the moment I cannot take any pictures because I am currently staying with my family.
      But for your information, in the wardrobe I can hang at least around 8 big coats. There are also many spaces (at least 8 levels of shelf spaces available) for the wardrobe where I have no problem fitting all my folded clothes in.
      I have no problem storing more than enough dried food/pasta/cans/beans for at least 2 months (during lockdown).
      I actually find it quite hard to use all my shelves...the shelf above my bed is always empty, and I can put all detergents/cleaning stuff in the cabinet underneath the kitchenette sink

      @gangrenefantasia4936  Před 3 lety

      Hi, sorry for the late reply.
      I would say it depends on what you are looking for. To me my room was comfortable and I had a lot of privacy. I have heard of complaint of mice, power shortage (just very recently for once) but these were not a problem for me.
      However, there is no common area for gatherings or activities in this residence. So if you are looking forward to interactions with others in the same residence it might be a bit hard.
      As for security I think it's alright. You need to pass through 2 doors with an electric chip, and in some rooms you can see who is calling at the front door via the intercom.

    • @gangrenefantasia4936
      @gangrenefantasia4936  Před 3 lety

      @@AgusRibutSusanto I left in late June. The temperature was reaching around 27-30 degree Celsius during those few weeks and it can get quite hot in the room if I open the window (the hot air is blown in)...plus the sun shines directly into my room during the day so that further increases the temperature if I did not close the window blinds.
      However if I closed the window blinds and the windows it's acceptable, quite cool, even though there wasn't any air-con / fan in my room.

    • @gangrenefantasia4936
      @gangrenefantasia4936  Před 11 měsíci

      Yes I have heard of that as well, never seen them personally during my 6 months staying there, even before covid lockdown times. Some graffiti in the fire escape on the top floor was probably one of the evidence for non-residents entering the building.
      It is true that anyone can enter the building if someone just unlock the electronic front door for them, or if they just follow someone with an electronic key into the building. Don't think anyone can stop them if they want to get in because residents don't know everyone staying in the building. I have never seen any security guard as well.
      No key card tapping or going through any of those fancy securities is required to get to any floor. Room doors will lock themselves once closed and need keys to unlock mechanically
      (so remember to take your key with you whenever you leave the room, I've locked myself out and needed help from kind people staying there to get in with some old school methods, because the so-called residence receptionist or secretary or whatever is almost never there. It took a lot of time to get in).
      That's probably all I can tell you regarding the residence's security.
