    Picked up one of these a few weeks ago. Loving it so far! The image quality is amazing it doesn't have such an aggressive auto dimming compared to my old OLED. The warranty, KVM, and better UI is the reason I got it over the Samsung counterpart. My only compliant is when you execute the pixel care, it will turn off rather than going into stand by.

    Watching this video on my new MSI MPG 491CCQP I bought to replace a dual monitor setup just in time for my annual job of producing a 72 page full color, full bleed high school football program. (By myself in 3.5 weeks) Using this screen in the Picture By Picture mode, I have Adobe InDesign open with a two-page spread, Adobe Photoshop, and MS Word all on screen to copy and paste between. I'm lovin it!

    I'm really interested on their 34" ultrawide, I read on the TFTCentral website that MSI is preparing to launch the MPG version of the MAG 341CQP which will feature a 2nd gen OLED panel and an increased refresh rate of 240hz, are the benefits of that 2nd gen panel worth the jump of nearly $300 usd from the MAG to the MPG?

    Interesting monitor but 32:9 is a bit too wide for me personally!
    Wondering if they figure out BFI+VRR / gsync pulsar for these OLEDs until the 5120x2160p 240Hz UW monitors release - LG had them scheduled for late 2025 if I am remembering your roadmap video correctly.

  • @cd3743
    @cd3743 Před 4 měsíci +2

    I purchased this monitor and have been enjoying it. I had purchased the Samsung G9 OLED, and ended up sending it back in favor of this monitors anti-reflective screen.
    The one issue I have seen is that the screen on my MSI monitor is it appears to be not completely centered on the dispaly. I did notice the same thing in this video. Where the screen is flush on the bezel on one side and then has a small black space between the bezel and the screen on the other. I'm not sure if this is a software issue or if this is just part of the design. Has anyone else noticed this?

    • @tftcentral
      @tftcentral  Před 4 měsíci +3

      That’s likely the space to accommodate the pixel shift feature, with the screen moving slightly periodically to fill the different edges

    Thanks for the great review. I picked one of these up mainly due to the burn in warranty compared to Samsung (and it was £150 cheaper).
    Have you had any feedback from MSI regarding a firmware update? The panel refresh doesn’t seem to be working properly and the screen annoyingly just pops up after four hours and needs to be set manually. I’ve looked round the internet and it seems many are having the same issue but MSI are being very quiet on it. Thought I’d ask yourself as you seem to be in touch with MSI directly.

    From what I can tell DP offers the full res, refresh rate and adaptive sync and although its not validated as G-Sync compatible it works.

    • @tftcentral
      @tftcentral  Před 3 měsíci

      The response times are consistent on OLED screens at all refresh rates so we don’t bother including additional tables. But g2g figures can’t capture the impact of refresh rate on perceived motion clarity, which is why we include pursuit camera photos too

    What would be the best mode HDR or SDR to play PS5/Xbox on?

    • @tftcentral
      @tftcentral  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Really depends if the game supports HDR or not. From a console it should output in SDR generally including the menu screens, but then assuming you have HDR enabled it should output in that mode when you play relevant content that supports it. So you’d prob want to set the screen up in both modes. You may also choose to use the “auto HDR” feature that “upscales” regular SDR games to HDR to an extent, which will mean all the games you output will trigger that HDR mode on the display

    • @Itsyourboyzo
      @Itsyourboyzo Před 4 měsíci

      @@tftcentral do the games run any faster on SDR or HDR or is it just a preference thing? I play on PS5 and usually it will have you adjust the HDR as soon as you hook the monitor up with HDMI cord… usually I’d take off HDR on older monitors because it would like really bad but on the OLEDs specifically the 2.1 HDMI QD OLEDs the HDR looks fantastic and SDR looks more less bright and I’m sure the settings could change that but yeah I’m just curious if the game will play any faster or better rather?

    I just HATE that MSI is promoting "firmware upgradability" as a FEATURE! IN 2024! What the actual F#$K! Tbh I'm interested in the 27" 360Hz 1440p one, but on a primarily desktop PC usage scenario; no laptops, no external devices. I don't even use the included USB hub (in fact never used the one embedded in my current AOC 1080p 144Hz, since 2018!). I just wanted a good, no-nonsense, FAST OLED monitor with great HDR, and the guarantee(!) of hoping for future firmware upgrades if things would go awry. And if I could pay a few less quids when compared to the more premium model, HAPPY DAYS! That's why I was interested in the MAG series of MSI, instead of the MPG. Also the all black aesthetics of the MAG was more appealing to me. I just DON'T GET WHY THEY HAD TO NERF THIS CLASS OF MONITORS when it comes to upgradability! I mean, it still has a Type-C port! If it's only wired for power and NO DATA AT ALL, that's SHODDY ENGINEERING, and I hope that's not the case! I hope it can be reversed soon....

    • @tftcentral
      @tftcentral  Před 4 měsíci +1

      The USB-C port on the MAG model still supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and data, it just has a lower 15W power delivery compared to 90W on the MPG model. The lack of support for firmware updates is disappointing though, and something we’ve spoken to MSI about
