It doesn't even have to result in cheating. It could just be a cooling of the relationship. I continue to have to grow into and maintain an alpha mindset. After awhile, it is easy to fall into bp/egalitarian ways. With the best girl I've been involved with, I started strong and our relationship showed it. After awhile, I slipped back. While our relationship was never bad, it was much less bf/gf. I then tried to steer us back but it was too late and I decided to break it off. Before anyone says "the juice isn't worth the squeeze", it was to me. I got as much out of my initial approach as she and we did.
I'll even add... Some time after we split up, she was having problems with one of her adult sons. She came to me, recalling I had mentioned some of my journey into being a better man, looking for advice for her son. I must have been doing something well.
If you DO change for them, there will always be an excuse from her to leave you:
