Its nice to have smooth animations but the graphics on switch are far clearer and crisper and more vivid than game cube which is partially why cube could hit those rates, it didnt have so much to render or process but given how good the remake looks im perfectly happy with 30
Did anyone else notice the chrome ZR/ZL buttons!!?
Just like the SNES, right?
Let's just accept the fact that nothing, and i mean NOTHING, will ever be perfect! There will ALWAYS be tradeoffs! Do not deny it!
Idc what nobody says… this remake looks amazing and i can’t wait to play it
This is indeed a remake. An example of the difference between a remake and a remaster is Twilight Princess HD and the Link's Awakening Remake. Twilight Princess HD just tweaked the graphics a bit. Link's awakening hat rebuilt the entire game. That's the same with paper mario the thousand-year door it was built from the ground up so it's a remake
Stability is king! Higher frames are nice and certainly welcome, but not at the cost of reliability.
The super guarding and action commands are going to be harder at 30 fps like 2 times harder not unless they make the visual visual cues more obvious and quicker to spot.
No, it would be easier. For example, guarding in the PAL version of the original is easier because it's 50 fps.
If your fine with the game then play it. If not, then just move on to another game. Easy.
Hey Andres restart do you see paper mario color splash and super paper mario getting ported to the Nintendo switch?
I think it’s only gonna be the first 3 only
I hope the first one gets the TTYD treatment while Super just gets a Pikmin 1/2 remaster! I don’t think Nintendo will touch color splash ever again and I can’t say I blame Nintendo

Since it’s a remake, they can make sure the timing works with 30FPS. Contrast that with the simple port of 64 where they didn’t take HDTV’s inherent input lag with old games into consideration and that was pretty awful at times. NSO Emulation is genuinely lazy
The original Paper Mario on N64 ran at 30 fps as well. Obviously, 60 fps is better, but 30 fps isn't going to break the game. Heck, OoT runs at 20 fps on N64, and it's praised as one of the best games ever made.
0:00 - 3:58 The choice to start off the video with “Gateway Galaxy” in the background is quite perfect. Because, really, as long as the frame rate is smooth enough, it’s totally okay. Like you say in the video, if what they’re using now for a modern engine works well for them, then by all means, don’t fix it!!
I'd happily sacrifice some of the framerate if the game runs completely smoothly at all times rarher than high framerate with constant stuttering.
Complain all you want, people. I'm definitely buying this to show Nintendo that THIS is the style I want Paper Mario to go for in the future. While others whine about frames and minor text changes, I'm going to re-experience a personal favourite from my youth.
30FPS isn't going to BREAK the game for me. It's fine.
I’m going to be honest, this is one of those games where I really don’t see how framerate matters too much. It’s a turned based game with simple action commands. You don’t need to make too many split second decisions that makes a higher frame rate feel better. A more consistent framerate makes the game feel more cinematic which seems to be what they were going for.
TY
30 fps makes them queazy, have them play golden eye on n64 for 9 hours at 10 fps then they can come back and talk to me about queazy
Maybe because it's f****** animated paper?! Maybe we don't need to see paper move ultra realistically more than whatever they are working on for switch 2?
I don’t mind if it’s going to be 30 fps.
I do.
To be honest, downgrading to 30 fps is the opposite of "remastering" so therefore it's a remake.
hi AndresRestart
I wish it was 40fps, since it can’t be 60…
Thanks for not framing it like a shitty tragedy in your title. Last thing we need is people boycotting this game.
I seriously don't get the outcry over this. Honestly, the needless censorship is far more worrisome than whether a game like this ought to run at 60fps or not (especially since it isn't nearly as big a difference as some make it out to be).
There isn’t much censorship in the game aside from the Goomba line change. Hell, considering they added Vivian’s identity back it’s arguably less censored than the original.
The localization news concerns me on the remake but not the 30fps.
Localization news?
@@Krushak8888 Changes or censorship in the dialoge.
@derain1815 ok? I'm sure they'll keep the same dialogue as in the gamecube one. You know they changed the dialogue to suit the audiences cause if culture jokes right?
Just play it on Ryujinx with the 60fps mod and problem solved 🤷🏻
It's not a game that needs more than 30 FPS. At no point will your gameplay or experience be hampered by that fact. Even while playing TOTK, a more action oriented game, me and my fiends had no problem with the framerate after getting used to it. My friend group mostly play PC and a lot of shooter games, and we have been doing so consistently for years. We are sensitive to lower, or changes in FPS. A Nintendo game like this running at 30 FPS should not be a news worthy story.
It should when the original ran at 60 fool. Just shows how pathetically weak the switch is
@@yguy1232 ...you did watch this video, right?
@@TheIrishBub no, that idiot did not
I really don’t care as long as the game looks & plays smoothly. I’m so excited!
Lowering the framerate would seem to go against your stated want of looking smooth, no?
I only play games running at 69420 fps.
"You can have your cake and eat it" ok so something like Prime 4 we should expect it at 30fps then
Thats gonna be on the new console, so i hope not, this on the other hand is running on 7-8 year old hardware
I think people are expecting a FULL remake whenever they hear it. Like if the first Zelda game has the graphics of Breath of the Wild. Or the first Mario game has the graphics of Odyssey. Anything less than that, people will call it a remaster, especially if you can compare them side by side and frame by frame.
Then it's a full remake since it's ttyd with origami graphics
@@birdbig6852 you can still compare them frame by frame. So, it's not like a full remake.
*INTERESTING!* 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
I nsver cared if it was 30 or 60 as it still seems like it runs good and looks good and besides since we are most likely gonna be able to transfer data from the old switch to switch 2 than the game could get a performance boost and run at 60 and still look just as good and games like princess peach showtime would also get a boost too
Don't worry, it will run at 60 on the Switch 2.
Unlikely, backwards compatibility doesn’t upgrade games at all, just lets you play the same games with the same visuals & framerate.
@@shantaehalf-geniehero4318 its entirely possible that it was designed with switch 2 in mind, and will support 60. I agree that any old games won't be like this unless they go back and update them
@@tlk777 That's not how any of this works. It literaly does not matter how powerful Switch 2 is. It could run circles around the PS5 pro, hell, it could be more powerful than any top end gaming pc for the next 20 years and it won't matter. If a game is capped at 30 fps it will ONLY hit 30 no matter how powerful it is. The only way what you're describing ends up being true outside of a patch is if the game is uncapped and just tends to hover AROUND 30.
@@jeffreywilliams1347 you didn't read my post closely enough. I was saying it MIGHT be designed that way. Like a PlayStation game that has quality mode 30fps, and performance mode 60fps. But in our case the 60fps mode would be exclusive to switch 2. I am well aware that it won't automatically go to 60 fps just because the console is better. However, you should be aware that it's possible for them to have designed the game with a 60 fps mode in mind, that just isn't accessible yet.
There is no switch 2
I'm believing that the game will likely be optimized for the Switch 2, allowing it to run smoothly at 60 frames per second due to its improved hardware capabilities.
Switch 2 switch 2 blah blah blah this Game are gonna cost 70 bucks in that """""Switch 2"""""""Btw this Game are very very rushed imo

If the Nintendo Switch wasn't so underpowered there, having the _Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door_ remake electronically running at 60fps wouldn't be a problem. Also, processing costs wouldn't be an issue in that case - hence, it's why I feel here that the _Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door_ remake really should have been saved for the Nintendo Switch 2. Having video games electronically run at 60fps really should be an industry standard in this day and age!
30fps doesn’t bother me when the game already looks so beautiful, but also I’m very confident in betting that its gonna get a performance boost on Switch 2 along with several other bigger Switch 1 titles (Zelda, Kirby, Xenoblade, Pikmin, etc)
There's no switch 2, there is no new console in production
@@arzfan29 if you actually think that your insane lmao
Switch should be plenty powerful to run a game like Paper Mario on 60fps. Not only are there more demanding titles on Switch, which run at 60fps, but Paper Mario isn't that graphically demanding, unless your code is ass. Coincidentally it is the latter case here with the remake running on TOK's 30fps engine.
It's still a guaranteed buy for me, because PM:TTYD is one of my favourite games and I can "live with" the 30fps. But it's a real shame, when there's room for improvement. Like seeing great potential go to waste.
@@Xerkrosis Nothing has gone to " waste " here, that's such a superfluous conclusion to come to. And you know what lol (smh), this is making me realize something important. If the GameCube version ran at 30fps, then this manufactured " outrage " about it wouldn't even be making the little tidal waves it's making in the comment threads/sections. And as far as " laziness " goes, the ones that are needlessly complaining about the frame rate are lazy minded and refuse to utilize what they were created with along with the rest of us, neuroplasticity. Having the inherent ability (ALL of us) to use our minds to adapt and adjust our brains (the receptacle for our mind) to different timings, speeds, visual cues, situations and etcetera.
It's simple, they can either learn the new timing of the action commands and appreciate this blessing of a remake that's been bestowed upon the Paper Mario community, or they can stubbornly stick to the GameCube version for the rest of their lives if/since they're that needlessly obsessed with nostalgia like the nostalgia purists that they are. End of discussion.
By the way, I'm not angry at you, I'm just vexed by the explicit impudence and blatant melodrama that these miserable jive turkeys are trying to spread. Thank God that the preorders for this timeless remade masterpiece is doing exceedingly well. It's been in the best sellers rank at Walmart and GameStop ever since it became available for preorder.
@@Xerkrosis I mean parts of it might, but you might have a Link’s Awakening situation where it tries to keep 60 but is wildly inconsistent. Some parts of TTYD remake would run fine, but certain battles and moments where Mario and co are swarmed by enemies? A bit of a taller order. I can live with a locked 30fps for now and I’m optimistic it’ll get a performance patch eventually
I don't know what idiots actually think putting paper at a high at higher frame rates would make a difference since each character has like only has like 2 frames of animation animation anyway!lol!!!
Then why did the original developers do it? Were they just stupid?

people are so stupid calling this a remake
You’re even more stupid for calling it a remaster then.
Its literally been called a remake by Nintendo but alright.
Nah you are. It’s literally a remake, Nintendo themselves said so
It doesn't really matter if Nintendo calls it a remake or what engine it was made with. Say hypothetically Nintendo declared all the ports on NSO as remakes, would that make them so? No. In order to be called something you have to meet a certain level of criteria regardless of what you say otherwise. Are the visuals enhanced? Yes they are brand new. Are there quality of life features added? Yes there are stuff like new soundtrack, art gallery, battle tutorials, and quick travel methods added. That is enough to land it into remaster territory but is it enough for a remake? Are there new areas added? No. Are there new enemies? No. Are their new side quests? No. Are there new battle mechanics? No. Now maybe they just haven't shown all of what the game has to offer yet so we won't really know until it is released, going off of what the trailers have revealed so far I would call this a high end remaster rather than a remake.
No, remake means made in new engine, remaster means same engine just cleaned up, this is the only definition, this is a remake no matter what
If a game is rebuilt from the ground up, it's a remake. It doesn't matter what new content gets added.
60 FPS should be a standard... Even in a RPG games! Every animation will look more fluid, the way the screen move in 30 fps or 60 fps make a big huge difference visually, even in a RPG.... I will still buy the games, but would prefer 1000x time that they kept the 60 from the original.

Another controversy for the game is the censorship of the catcalling on goombella.
We thought the censorship would only happen to mature games like fire emblem and xeno games but not kiddy games aren’t safe either
“ censorship “ I seriously doubt it. Intelligent Systems changed the script. It’s not the localizer. They kept in Dupree hitting on Goombella and her telling him off. They also kept in the Pokeys saying “touccchhh mee… “ etc etc.

Argh...these discussions about fps are so pointless. Why does anyone care about this? If a game is good, does running at 30 fps somehow nullify that and it becomes bad? If a terrible game runs at 60 fps does that make it better somehow? Im so disappointed with what videogames and videogame fandom are becoming. Its as if everyone has completely forgotten what makes a game good or bad. Ive never been happier to be 38 and out of touch. I cant imagine how absolutely miserable and exhausting it must be to exist in that head space.
Better FPS = more smooth. More smooth = more fun. By how much? That's up to the individual.
FPS contributes to what makes a game good or bad. How does it not? Are you seriously saying you're fine with a say 10 FPS game?
Why is this such a big deal? It’s a 2004 turn based RPG! RPG’s don’t need high frame rate especially this type of RPG We need people to support the game not boycott it for a stupid reason
A lot of the gameplay is timing-based, making FPS relevant. Besides 60 fps simply looks and feels smoother. Having a downgrade in FPS for a remake seems like the opposite of what should be expected.

Eh. Part of making games in general is knowing when to cut corners, and then find ways to hide those cut corners.
Despite being 30 FPS, the game still looks really nice with it's visuals and animations. And it being a turn based RPG, plus the whole Paper aesthetic, further disguises the FPS.
Of course, 60 FPS would've been better, but I'd say the game looks pretty up to modern standard as is right now.

This comment section proves that people, especially Nintendo simps, will absolutely accept mediocrity as the going standard rather than expect actual good game development. No wonder Nintendo has been pumping out the most generic, terrible quality Pokémon games for years now. You all buy them no matter what. The fact that a 20 year old game on 23 year old hardware can run this game better than the switch can tells you everything you need to know about it. These "graphical enhancements" are just a cop out excuse because they knew the switch was too weak to run this game.
They enhanced graphics aren't the excuse. They're the REASON. The Switch can totally run the original game at 60fps, but they decided the improved visuals was more important then that. It's a tradeoff.
