- In this video, we introduce a new horse that recently came to us. He's a big brown gelding that is around 15 years old. We decided to take you along on the journey while Pat educates Brownie on the finer aspects of horsemanship using Pat's Western Bit. Pat also addressed a few questions that we received on the design of the bit and how it works in different situations. For more information, you can visit our website, www.thediscipli... . “She ain’t over the hill, she lives over the hill.” That made me laugh😂
Just bought your snaffle, I call it the “Rollie” snaffle, I’m very excited to get it, it’s genius.
Thanks for your wisdom, you’ve taught me a LOT and really helped me get my confidence back after a spill and time off riding. Your channel is such a gift to CZcams and horse people.
-sincerely, a youngin’ from Oregon, USA
“This is a horse contemplating sin”
😂😂😂😂
Came for the horses, stayed for the comedy relief.😊
My Haflinger mare contemplates sin every ride. 😂❤
Third time watching this video. Thank you Pat
At the gate he was testing if pitching a fit would scare you into giving up! It didn't. ❤ horses have a pure logic about them.
Glad you were able to take that lady's horses. They hit the lottery and landed in the ideal home 😊 Sorry for your loss. This is a lovely memorial for your nephew.
"His thoughts are not pure" lol❤ Your channel is a treasure.
Condolences Pat, Deb & family, especially your nephews parents.
Happy Friday Pat and Deb. Beautiful horse 🐎 Pat. Sorry about your nephew. I can tell you miss and will miss him. God bless you and Deb. Keep up the great videos. And, thanks for being the salt of the earth hood Christian people. The world needs more of yours and yours example. Have a great weekend…. 😊
So sorry to hear about your nephew. Praying for Gods healing and peace during this difficult time for you and your family.
Sincerest condolences for your nephew. 🙏 Way too young. Love the lessons you teach us about the importance of one step. It is appears to be a small thing, but the reality is that for the horse, it has huge ramifications. I’m a believer!! Thanks again for all you do! Hope Deb is doing well!
You know this , however I will say it for the benefit of all us listeners .
You speak truth sir , unvarnished , honest , confident horseman.

Second time watching this video. Release is the reward.
Excellent video you three (horse included!). Sorry for the loss of your nephew - how nice to have this horse as a remembrance. Looking forward to more Big Brownie sessions … I learn something every time.
Thank you Pat.
Thanks 1st time for me to see cold jar and the use of he back/release and how it makes the cold jar. And the use of you r bit.
4th time watching this video. Thank you Pat.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom
Thank you for your fantastic videos, I always learn fundamentals and details each time.
Awesome video thank-you!! Im learning more and more each day. Been watching for quite awhile. I so appreciate the education!!
Loved it . Excellent demonstration of proper riding.
What a thoroughly enjoyable video! Lots of little nuggets of information. Thank you so much!!
So sorry to hear about your nephew Pat. He was much too young to be gone too soon. That makes perfect sense adding your leg when you temporarily neck rein. The release is the reward. The horse will always look for the release.
🌹
I'm sorry for your loss. I can't imagine losing one of my nephews or nieces.
Excellent video, Pat. I learned a lot. Thank you.
I love this video, thank you, it is so clear as to what needs to happen, I always feel a little more confident when you explain what I would have asked you. So sorry about your nephew he is my son’s age, heartbreaking❤️
Love your brand of wisdom. Sorry for your loss - somehow i think you both benefitted from one another.
Would love to see more training videos with new horses (I know it's rinse and repeat however it's helpful to see how different horses react and respond to your training methods).
Would also like to see a video on how to buy a horse - what to look for, red flags, green flags and any other tips and tricks.
Thank you so much for your time making these videos 😊

And as luck would have it, we have a new young horse that Pat will be working with in upcoming videos.
Sorry about your nephew agree with you about the horses as a sign I enjoy all your videos but especially this one brownie is going to be so helpful for your clients 😊 😢😀
Always wonderful your video. I wish it have a question but every time I think of I know what you’d answer me. I still hope I could soon be in some of your classes
The someone who wanted to know why you did not design a half-breed bit was ...me, I admit it :).
Truck drivers, farriers and cable repairmen live in the 4th dimension where time is irrelevant.
Dear Pat,
Thank you for your videos, very informative!
Could you send me information on were I could buy your western bit?
Thank you!

Here's the link to our online store: www.thedisciplinedride.com/store
We list the link to our website in the description of all of our videos and it scrolls past on the bottom of the screen toward the end of the majority of our videos.
Thank you!
Please I would love to see how you work a team
Unfortunately we don't own a team.
Can you use closed reins with this bit or is it only a split rein deal?
We recommend split reins.
Sounds like you're describing "feel".
Hi pat. I’m a big fan from Alabama. If you start a two year old in the missing link snaffle how long will he stay there before he advances to your western bit?
You would need to be able to do our log exercise in the Missing Link Snaffle using just one hand on the reins, stop and back up off of your body without pulling, beginning to understand collection, and be able to work a gate with one hand on the reins.
Is there a curb strap on him today ?
We always use a curb strap on a western bit. The only instance where we haven't used a curb strap was during a demonstration on our spade bit horse so people could see that a spade bit is not supposed to be a leverage bit. We also recommend a curb strap be used on a snaffle bit so that the bit won't pull through the horse's mouth when you do a one rein stop.
I just didn't see it ?
I agree with the applications of a curb strap...one thing you said that stuck with me years ago was ... Be true to yourself , you know in your heart if the horse makes it ....
@@joelhamilton6720 it probably just blended into his hair color.
I am sorry about your nephew, that's far too young to pass.
