REACTION to KAMELOT (Liar Liar feat. Alissa White-Gluz) đ€đčđ„
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 18. 10. 2020
- First of all. This song is straight up magic. But Alissa White-Gluz doing clean vocals? Get outta here. Reacting to Kamelot is always damn good time and Liar Liar was no exception.

11:47 face of a person finding out that he`s been cheated out of Alissa` clean vocals all this time
Can't stop clicking the button
Alissa used to do both clean vocals and growls with her old band "The Agonist". so if you need to hear more cleans from her, that's where you should check :) I'd suggest "Thank you, pain" and Their Eulogies Sang Me to Sleep"
That was an ugly split. :-/
she also did cleans on the last arch enemy album in Reason to Believe, but that song isn't the best for reactions imo
Panophobia and Ideomotor are also great. Dont forget Demons in You with Alissa and Tarja đ
" Thank you Pain " for sure !!! Love that song and her range
Eulogies is my favorite The Agonist song!
Alissa using her clean vocals more often is what everyone wants to see and hear. I don't think it fits what Arch Enemy does very much, but she used them more often with her old band "The Agonist". I think Thank you Pain would be a good example where she uses both clean vocals and growls
I was literally going to recommend this exact song, or Business Suits and Combat Boots. She does more Clean/Harsh swapping with The Agonist than she does with Arch Enemy
Reason to Believe, by Arch Enemy, is probably their softest song, and it has her singing some clean vocals.
Her cleans are good but her growls/screams are shockingly impressive. She was good before joining AE but after 6 years of practice they're even more refined and demonic. Listen to songs like Arch Enemy - Down To Nothing, On And On, or anything played live from the Will to Power album and have an eargasm. đđ€She performs live better than on the albums. It kind of shows her talent for screaming/growling, the way it comes so easy and natural to her.
@@mikeh6286 oh no doubt, i'm not denying that. I just happen to think that if you can do both, you probably should, because that makes it extra awesome. Two of my favorite vocalists as of right now are Tomi Joutsen from Amorphis and Tatjana Shmailyuk from Jinjer because they can transition seamlessly between Clean vocals and growls
@@Eluarelon Yep đ Check out the Kane Roberts song with Alissa and Alice Cooper. It's got her more developed vocals in it (2019). She's both the light and the darkness of that song, dispite standing among "giants" haha. Just thinking about this detail makes me smile.
Now you need to check out the "wonders" (pun intended) Tommy does with Ayreon ;)
(he has a band called Seventh Wonder)
Your face when Alissa came with those cleans đ
Yes he would be amazed by Ayreon!
Karevik has an awesome voice, and the whole band sounds , in my opinion, even better live than in studio versions. Phantom DIvine is another cool song with another pretty lady growling in a crystal live version.
Ps. Chase's face when Alissa's clean vocals come in... priceless!
They absolutely blew my socks off when I saw them live. Tommyâs voice I swear is even better live. I cried (overemotional).. it was absolutely incredible.
Now it's time to see the best male/female Kamelot combo ever, Roy Khan and Simone Simmons doing The Haunting live! The One Cold Winter's Night version of course, and every other song from that perfect love show.
My favorite kamelot song is Elisabeth. The official live version is amazing. It has Khan as the singer.
Yes!
Elizabeth is, dare I say, mandatory subject for reaction! Simply put the song is awesome!
Elizabeth I,II,III is up there with Ghost Love Score for me as my favourite vocals in Symphonic metal
My only gripe with it is the guitar parts in Elizabeth III, which are not only missing due to there only being 1 guitar live, but Thomas also seems to get lazy and actually not play them properly! And it's my favourite part of the whole trilogy, such a shame
Yes.
this is a must-listen for sure. live from "one cold winter's night" is the way to go.
I will continue to suggest Ayreon, and I know I'm not alone here. I'm very sure that once you do you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner!
Your face on the clean vocals made my day. This video was actually my introduction to both Kamelot and Alissa, and it's still my favorite song by either one of them.
I loved your face when Alissa started her clean vocals haha I think she does more cleans with her previous band The Agonist and I would always recommend my introduction to Kamelot which was Ghost Opera! Keep up the amazing work dude
That whole album is stellar power metal. The only way to level up in power metal is to have both Karevik and Britney Slayes with either Kamelot or UtA playing the music. That might cause a singularity in the universe.
The "WTH" Face was priceless, this is one of my top 10 most loved Kamelot Songs
Well, because you liked Alissa's clean vocals I think you should listen to her previous band, The Agonist, where she was singing in clean voice much more than she does it now. For start I would reccomend The Agonist - ,,Panophobia" (preferably official video)
And there is still that solo album of hers to released in some unspecified time in the future
@@Immortall1408 Yeah, I'm waiting for it! She recently said that she will say something more about it in the near future
This is the one Chase should do next!
Also the album version of this has an extra 4 bars of chugging just after the solos that I really miss in this video version
Im so used to listen to the album version, that the cuts on the vĂdeo version annoys me a little. Great music anyway.
Did you know that Tommy Karevik is married with an amazing vocalist? Kobra Karevik Paige (born October 14, 1988) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. She is the founder, lead singer, and songwriter for hard rock and metal band Kobra and the Lotus. She was also a touring guest vocalist for Kamelot.
Alissa can ROAR and SOAR!! What an experience!
She sang for Nightwish with Elise from Amaranthe back in 2012 when they played here in Denver, CO (instead of canceling the concert when Annettewas sick) . You can see clips of it from their documentary Please Learn the Setlist in 48 Hours. It was awesome being there for it.
I saw this song live in 2017... she goes from growls to clean in a way that leaves you đČđČđČđČđ€Żđ€Żđ€Żđ€Ż
I was also blown away by the clean vocals here. And they become better on a second listen as well.
I loved the jawdrop when Alissa's clean vocal transitioned in
I think my dude here is ready for air drumming tournament of power.
Let's do it.
She's done a song with clean vocals with Arch Enemy called "Reason to Believe" if you want to check that out.
Hell yeah, check that out Chase! czcams.com/video/0kJdWJXxF3Y/video.html
Chase your face while you were listening to Alyssa's clean vocals was everything I wanted in a reaction. Its one of the reasons why this is 1 of my top fav songs by kamelot.
Saw Kamelot live last year as the headliner for a show with Sonata Arctica and Battle Beast. I went to the show for Sonata Arctica and didn't know much about the other two bands, but Kamelot absolutely stole the show (as well they should.) Alyssa was there too for the featured vocals and she (and everyone else) absolutely KILLED this song live. It's one of my favorite songs now.
Kamelot Elizabeth parts 1,2,3 live. Itâs a must react to song.
It may be interesting for you to know that the pianist of the kamelot group is the husband of simone simons, the singer of epica
Hahahahahaha - the look on your face when Alissa unleashed the cleans. Yeah she is really good.
Your face hearing Alissa doing the clear vocals: Priceless đ€
I saw Nightwish in Copenhagen with Arch Enemy as supporting band and Arch Enemy blew a fuse, shortening their time on stage hugely. I didn't think much of it then cause I was there for Nightwish, but man... These days I know it was such a shame. Much like I 10+ years ago saw Sonata Arctica with Epica as support and didn't know I'd grow to enjoy Epica thus didn't appreciate it as much as I should have at the time. I wish I remembered more of them from that. They're all hugely skilled musicians and great bands.
Anyway, Kamelot.... Please do more of them! They have a bit too little live stuff IMO but they do have a lot of great videos.
She sang for nightwish in 2012 as well!!
This song is on their new live album I Am The Empire, and Alissa slays the cleans live just as well as here in the studio
For older (Roy Khan era) stuff, I especially recommend :
- March of Mephisto
- Love you to Death (softer, more emotional song that I already put on the Discord recommendations list)
- Elizabeth (the Ghost Love Score of Kamelot basically)
I love how you're always so visibly surprised when songs pick up after a calmer intro; always the same eyebrow action.
đđŒââïžđ
Yes! Kamelot and Nightwish! .. as we all know from Deff Leppard - "Rock , rock till you drop" .. Don't ever dare to drop my 2 favorite bands! I am happy that you like them too, cz they are realy special , not only for me and you.. they just are! :) So.. Nightwish army will take the voice for ths songs taht they want to hear with you, Chase, but i want join the party with 2 epic old songs of Kamelot with Roy .. Don't get me wrong , i am realy happy that they got Tommy ,but i love Roy as singer. Both songs are from Oslo live . "Nights Of Arabia" is the first Kamelot song that i ever head and i fall in love with this band. And the second in my list is "Karma"... Maybe you can do them in one video ? Whatever you decide. .will be epic! Thanks for all your videos and have damn good day! ;)
That look of both shock and love when Alissa sings clean had me laughing way too hard. Love the reaction
Thanks for this reaction âșïž I'm lovin it.
Tommy has an amazing voice, I really like the kamelot stuff with him singing.
The thing is, imo - although they have some things in common - you can't compare Tommy and Roy at all.
They're both amazing.
Kamelot is a great band. Always has been. â€ïž
Hoping to see them live one day.
Have been lucky to seen them with Roy in the past, hope to see them with Tommy in the future. One of my absolute favorite bands out there.
PS I would like to reming ppl, that Roy was not Kamelot's original singer either. I remember listening to Kamelot before Roy telling the friend who introduced them to me, great songs but mediocre singer. That same friend introduced me to Conception, Roy's band which was fantastic. When after a while Roy joined Kamelot (also influencing their sound imo) we both got our minds blown and actually went to that Kamelot/Roy concert together. \m/
@@Wriwnas1 roy & kamelot was magic.â€ïž
I think (I'd have to check to be sure) that I've seen Kamelot (with Khan) more than all other concerts combined (festivals being counted as one).... And I only discovered them with the Black Halo! Can't wait for them to get back to Europe so I can see them with Tommy! I will admit, though, that of the various female singers I've heard sing The Haunting, Simone is still my favorite for that one, even if I can't imagine anyone but Alissa singing this song
Sacrimony is by far my favourite "Tommy era" song by Kamelot, it's up there in my opinion with stuff like Ghost Opera and Karma or Forever from back in the day but this one's really good too; probably time to check out some Agonist eventually. Very happy to see them featured on the channel again and I look forward to more, great work Chase!
*pauses* oh YEAH!. love this song...
*prepares a snack *PLAY
Edit: After 5 years of hearing this song, i have to admit, im discovering today even new layers thanks to this kinds of analysis-reaction. Im falling in love again and again. what a pleaesure.
Subscribing to this channel was one of the best things this 2020
PS: excuse my english grammar please
Same here bud. Chase really helps me appreciate these bands and the songs with his breaking down of the music making process.
Totally agree. Discovering this channel a few months ago really gave me something to look forward to during this lockdown.
I really appreciate you
âPack a lunchâ had me dying!!!! And, um, I was eating...
Great reaction Chase! Love your face when Alissa goes clean ;) She is both beauty and beast in one.
The guy Tommy, he is the one from Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down, (the opposition leader) that made Arjen cry tears of joy ;)
He is so freaking good!
I love the chord progression in the bridge. Its so counter intuitive and so much better for it. Yeah this is Tommy. His voice is the one I aspire to, as I struggle with the distortion thing. Allisa's cleans vocals are so good. I wish she'd leverage them more often. Screams for effect, clean for life... It's also a damn good video.
Yes!!! Shows some more of Alissas range. Shes a certified bad ass.
Keep doing Kamelot! Both vocalists are AMAZING! Love it!
đ€Żđđ§đ€đ€ So glad I came across Nightwish 20 years ago, Archenemy around that time... Led me down 1 hell of a wondrous musical rabbit hole! Love Kamelot, Love Alissa, love your reaction! LMAO!
GORGEOUS composition.
Kamelot is so good and has been for decades. I took my wife to see them live for our 10th Anniversary since it was one of the first bands we saw live together. They are killer always.
"Pack a lunch" :D hehehe... :P
By the way, for anyone doubting/holding off on buying the "I Am The Empire" live DVD/BD: she can deliver live too. Oh boy, she can.
In no way affiliated with them, but the DVD/BD is SO worth getting.
Even if you can't react to it on the channel, Chase, I can still warmly recommend it just to hear how well they perform it live, and how it's been mastered.
You need to see Phantom Divine live :))
Elizabeth I, II and III my dude. 3 pieces of the one whole, all fantastic
I got to see them live with her singing clean and scream it was such a good show.
Alissa has one of my favorite clean voices. I love her screams to, but I always wish that Arch Enemy would incorporate more of the back and forth between screams and cleans like the Agonist did. Her cleans are phenomenal.
HAHAHA 11:48 THERE'S THE FACE I WANTED! Lady has pipes to back up those growls!
Great reaction and analysis Chase, I agree with the phrasing, Kamelot are masters at constructing the phonetics of their lyrics.
For something earlier: The haunting live with Simone Simon's
For something modern: Phantom Divide
Though my personal faves are Vespertine, Anthem and Centre of the Universe.
Now you can check Sacrimony (live or video) with yes, Alissa, Elize (from Amaranthe). Any you choose the live or video, both awesome!
Already got that one up on the channel my friend. Have a look when you can.
Jajajjajaaja ikr? The first time I heard this song I was like, yeah, Tommy is doing pretty good. Love the song. Then Alyssa's vocals come and I was like đł wait ÂżIs that Alyssa...? Cannot be.... And I was reviewing that part over and over because... I just cannot believe it.
You should check the alissa old band âthe agonistâ ăthank you paină!
Man Tommy does such a good Khan impression. I love it.
Oh, Alyssa is a legit singer, not just a growler...
You miiight want to take a listen to the agonists "thank you pain". Alyssa was their frontwoman before she moved on to front Arch Enemy.
Thank you pain is.. IMHO, her best clean vocals performance.
And the agonist is a hell of a band too :)
Lol. Yeah dude. She can sing clean. I have never seen you hesitate so much to pause a video when she started singing. Love your break down of music
It was tough. Thank you.
Yes! Thank you again! So much!.... There is a video story here - "Phantom Divine" video was part 1, "Insomnia" was part 2 and this one is part 3!... Tommy Karevik (Mr Kobra Paige) lead singer, yes. Thomas Youngblood on lead guitar. Oliver Palotai (Mr Simone Simons!) on keyboards! Casey Grillo - drums. Sean Tibbetts - bass. I'd love to see an Oliver and Tuomas keyboard duet/duel!!! 11:50 & 12:06 Your face made my day!!!!! domo arigato goziemashita! Alissa has a fairly long history with Kamelot and clean vocals.... "Silverthorn" and "Veritas" great too, besides the ones mentioned above!
Yesssss. was waiting for you to get to this
Reason To Believe is an Arch Enemy song where you hear her cleans super well, and I know she has done operatic covers as well
Another Band I enjoy and with a great collab. I had heard this one before and enjoyed it. You just add something special to listening to it! Have a great one chase!
C DAVIS!!!! My guy repping the Discord gang.
Check Tommy singing in Ayreon Universe LIVE Into the Black hole
Been waiting for this for weeks. Knew you'd get to it and couldn't be more happy!! LETS GO
Alissa does alot of clean in Arch enemys song Reason to Believe
Gotta check it out.
Thank you so much for this reaction video, Chase. Kamelot is an amazing band. Great musicians and a great singer. Alissa White-Gluz is an amazing singer and a great guest of this song. Very melodic and epic song. Very beautiful song. I really like your work and your analysis. YouÂŽre doing great, Chase :-).
Another great Song. Always a joy with good music and your reaction to it.
Your reaction to Alissa's clean vocals was pretty much the same as mine when I discovered this song. Now you will probably have to check "Reason to Believe" from Arch Enemy ;)
Great reaction, as always!
Elizabeth 1,2,3 live cold winters night version with the old singer. Freaking beautiful and epic! I'd love to see you do this!
Yesss, I'm so happy you really react to this one! Thanks! I'm down for more symphonic power metal xD
Another option for Alissa's clean vocals is:the Muse and the Conductor from the Karmaflow soundtrack, its her and Marc Hudson. Great song from an amazing album
Just freaking awesome, thanks for doing this one Chase!!! My personal recommendation for the next one would be MARCH OF MEPHISTO Live at the 013. It has several features for his particular song in this concert. Elize Ryd, Alissa White-Gluz, and a couple members of Eklipse. And here is a link for the recent one Live at the 013 czcams.com/video/mgbybN-tC_I/video.html
Alyssa doing clean vocals and duo's like this using her growls is where i place my chips. I have to admit - I like her earlier work much more but her voice is definitely amazing. Along wit many others here; check out her work in "The Agonist".
Want more of her clean vocals? :) Try The Agonist - Thank You Pain!
Man don't wait any longer, go check out THE AGONIST, the song THANK YOU PAIN is definitely one of the songs where you can hear more of Alissa's clean vocals and her vocal range.
You want purposeful sound and you have not listened the best in this business yet. I don't take any excuses other than already being a huge fan and listened everything from them lol. ITS TOOL! Sober(live) will be a good starting point, i will remind you of them until i get a response :D Love your videos, you are my day and night last 3-4 days man. Huge respect and love from Turkey.
This song is my ringtone ever since it had come out. Kamelot is my all-time favorite band, although Nightwish is very close by. I liked Roy as a singer just as much as I like Tommy. Both singers bring a unique sound to Kamelot. Love that you started to react to this band!
P.s. if you want to hear Alissa singing in clean vocals, listen to Aurelio Voltaire and Alissa White-Gluz - Leaves in the Stream. She sings this whole song in clean vocals
Before Alissa and elize ryd, Simone Simmons from Epica used to sng beautiful songs with Kamelot! I recommend House on a hill, the haunting or even Epica's song trois vierges ft. Roy Khan (Kamelot 's first vocalist)..
Kamelot - The Haunting Ft Simone from EPICA.
11:49 Love how his reaction was akin to mine hearing Alissa's clean vocals for the first time... So different from what I was used to for her usual forte...
I definitely wonât forget this one.
The beginning of this video picked up from the video they released BEFORE this one called "Insomnia" the girl he was holding in his arms at the start he saved her in the Insomnia Video as well, and it is just as good as this one..... Check it out and you will see where they connect....... Most of Kamelot's Music, Each of their Albums tells a different Bigger Story over the rest of the Album...... so listening to the whole Album and listening to the lyrics will unlock the Bigger Story.... This album was just one example of that..... 'The Black Halo', 'Ghost Opera', 'Poetry For The Poisoned' and 'Silverthorn' are other Amazing Examples of this strategy with their music...... if you really want to experience that Full Album Storyline setup first hand, look into those albums FOR SURE cause I think you will become an even Bigger Fan of them by the time you are through..... Enjoy
i love the analysis going to vocals more ^^ you did that before but you are really an allrounder! Be proud.
Everyone who says you do bad is a LIAR LIAR
And your airdrumming is amazing ^^
đđđŒââïžâžïžâ€ïž
The first ever song I ever heard from Kamelot was Ghost Opera, and after that I was hooked.
Top 3 bands for me have been Kamelot, Epica and Nightwish for quite some years now and they all never fail to blow me away.
during this lockdown, i finally gave the Tommy era Kamelot a chance and I'm so glad i did. still epic melodies and story writing.
First: I told you yesterday to check out Delain with Alissa. Go listen to Hands Of Gold and Tragedy Of The Commons live at Paradiso. She goes full vertical placement and keeps up with Charlotte.
Also check out Phantom Divine with Lauren Hart (Live)
His vocal climb to match her cleans < your reaction to it.
great song and video, you are in your repertoire :)
I really like how they kinda changed the style from what the rest of the song is (from power? symphonic? into more death? trash? Im not really good at indentifiing this) when she had first take of her growls solo, which much more fits this style of singing. Good call.
Great Choice !! Great Band !! Great song !!!
Chase: Greatest air drummer ever ;-)
I'm trying, man.
Awesome! Spent the whole song waiting for your face when Alissa busted out the clean vocals and wasnât disappointed! Iâve been waiting for more people to catch wind of this song- to me itâs my favorite from them!
I love the choice to have Alissa sing a chorus, and I love the way she sounds singing it! This is a really great song, and it's just brilliantly structured and performed.
You should definitely react to Kamelot - Under Grey Skies! The live version with Charlotte from Delain is INCREDIBLE!
I'll check it out!
Tommys prog band 7th wonder is great also. His voice is wonderful live. He also is in a lot of Ayreon stuff that is awesome.
Had pretty much the same reaction when I heard her clean vocals for the first time. Jaw hit the floor.
Do you know that the keyboard guy is the houseband of Simone Simons, the singer of Epica? đ
I did. Cool huh?
@@ChaseCarneson yep! đ
Well, I think it is time to react to Alisa's previous band The Agonist! She used a lot of clean vocals there. Check out "Panophobia" by them for example
I love this song. It think it was my real introduction to Alissa. I was like who is this magical being?! And she really is. Not just as a musician, but as a human being.
Glad you got a look at her clean vocals and her growls. Somewhere on the Internet there is a duet she did with Delain, a song called the Tragedy of Commons.
Iâm not familiar with a lot of the music videos for Kamelot, but really...you canât go wrong with any of their songs, either Roy or Tommy.
Great video! Have a damn good day!
You should check out Kamelot's Under Grey Skies live ft. Charlotte Wessels. Their slower songs are just as awesome and this one really showcases Tommy's vocals!
I've seen this live, with Alissa, and yeah she is just as good live!
