Movie is a terrible way to adapt the first book of the Witcher the show had a really hard job to adapt that book I’m surprised that season 1 was as good as it was.

When I watched the first 5 episodes of season 3 I was immediately thinking about that "destroying and heal in Brokilon" idea (without reading any articles about it). I read the books and it's the only thing that would make any sense.

I agree with you, it's a bad idea that they're going to execute poorly, and it's still not going to save this sham of a show.
Well the conjunction of spheres is just a portal. So there's only two ways I can see. Option one is Geralt gets sucked into the spheres and is lost forever and swapped for an alternative universe Geralt coming back. The second option is simply Geralt battles the biggest monster dropped from the conjunction of spheres and dies heroically while saving Ciri. Then Geralt long lost brother Gerald comes for vengeance. So Geralt is replaced with Gerald. This is the best option IMO.
He'll just be like "I'm Geralt," but will actually be a completely different person.

I would love to see any good lore accurate witcher project with Henry Cavill. The guy needs a win. He was my introduction to the witcher and got me interested in the books and games. Everytime I read the books I imagine either him or the game character.

Lore accurate. I think that means different things depending where you live, it is a big world. I'm guessing where Lauren comes from it means ignore everything except the names of characters and places out of the books.

The only way Witcher will ever get another mainstream media adaptation is if Henry Cavill & CDPR take care everything on their own & maybe make a an anime based on the books & games in which I mean CDPR rendition of the lore universe.
Why anime? Henry Cavill is already busy as he is & he should be a producer & maybe Geralt VA. The production budget for the anime also way more forgiving. Best looking anime production probably only take about 15 million USD per season, basically the budget of one episode live action. (I believe Cyberpunk Edgerunners budget is 10 million USD)
They can do whatever they want. The fans will still follow Henry TFO of this series. Its Henry they loved because of his love for the lore and his insane acting abilities as Geralt. The writers are out of their minds if they think fans will be forgiving because they came up with a new way to be cheat them out of a great actor come on. lol
--BOOK SPOILERS BELOW--
I too had thought they would explain away the Cavill-Hemsworth switch by means of Vilgefortz disfiguring Geralt during the Thanedd Coup and his subsequent recovery in Brokilon. However, by the end of this season, Geralt will have already departed Brokilon with Dandelion and Milva. Therefore, something MUST happen to him on the way to Nilfgaard. The producer says the idea comes from book five, which we can assume to be Lady of the Lake since only the saga novels are numbered. It also has to be comprehensible enough to general audiences so... that most likely excludes Nimue & Condwiramurs. So what does that leave? Unicorns? Wild Hunt? I'm gonna guess Fringilla gets involved and "remakes" Geralt how she likes to try to piss off Yen. The fans hate Fringilla anyway so might as well make her responsible for this unpopular meta move too.
The best way to transition to Liam is to have Geralt fight the biggest baddest monster and die in combat then have Geralt long lost brother Gerald come seek vengeance. So the new character is Gerald instead of Geralt so now they don't have to look alike. It works.
I don't know why they just can't switch actors without some weird storyline that's not necessary.
My current theories:
-my initial one was always this Brokilon healing one after the Thanedd coup, however that now seems unlikely
-my second one is that if it’s drawing from lady of the lake, Geralt will somehow get stabbed in a pogrom in Rivia and “die” and then will be taken to the island of Avalon. Seems weird to be healed twice though.
-another option is that they pull out some multidimensional bullshittery and turn the different spheres of existence into a marvel-esque multiverse for no reason
-Potentially they could bring in Nimue and Geralt is changed through the “inaccuracies of history” or whatever. Wouldn’t work in the show at all
-perhaps Fringilla does something to change Geralt. She’s a lost cause in this show anyway so why not.
-maybe Geralt develops an eating disorder whilst looking for ciri and shrinks into Liam Hemsworth lol
-maybe he drank too much of Regis’ killer brew and was permanently disfigured into Liam Hemsworth
I think there’s a chance it’ll be one of these or a combination of any number of them. (Obvs a few are jokes) All I know is that it’s gonna be shit and I’m gonna enjoy laughing my ass off when normal viewers realise how ass the show is too.
I hate that my introduction to The Witcher universe. I knew of The Witcher but never peeked my intrest. I saw it on Netflix and was like, "i like a good fantasy series and Henry Cavill is a great actor". Thought season one was good. Then learned about the books, read them and loved them more. Played The Witcher 3 and was in love.
The only good things i can say about the Netflix show are: Henry Cavill killing it as Geralt of Rivia, Joey Batey as Jaskier/Dandelion was genius(not counting season 3), the songs "Toss a Coin to Your Witcher" and "Burn Butcher Burn" are still great, the fight with the Striga, and the rest of the cast giving it their all even if what their working with is garbage.
Season one is probably the only season that i can watch and sometimes enjoy. I could see season one as a weird prequel of sorts to the games. I like to think of season one was Dandelion retelling the story from Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri's perspectives but making up lots of crap to fill in the gaps or making stuff up because its Dandelion. The book's are the REAL accounts of the events. Maybe Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri wrote them.
Just pretend like his face doesn't change. Anything else would seem like 13th century plastic surgery. Shows switch actors all the time. Roseanne did it twice to the same character

I think the Lady of the Lake will rejuvenate him to a younger version of himself as a gift. Yeah, it's stupid but it's less stupid than some things they could do like the conjunction thing. It doesn't really matter how they try to manage the swap this show is toast. They might get decent ratings on the first episode of season 4 from people watching just to see how badly it's all done but that's it.

When Dr Who nearly dies, he has a stockpile of time energy that heals him. As part of the healing process, he changes into another person. Including his tastes and personality. You can watch youtube clips of it to see. Its a fun way to approach it and its usually very sad. He usually sacrifices himself and his companions dont return at the same time due to some circumstance that has been building throughout the show, so they replace them too. Its usually written into the story very well.
I think it's gonna be rather playing with the idea of multiverse and Ciri entering the tower of the swallow will just transport her into a different universe where Liam Hemsworth is Geralt. They already set up something similar this season with the fake Ciri so I think this might be the road they take, not that it matters this show is trash.

At this point the show isn’t gonna go well even if they would miraculously have fantastic writing and lore accurate. Even in that alternate universe everyone would still hate the show cause Henry is gone. It’s not even Liam’s fault and he’s already getting hated on. He may even actually not suck as geralt, but if the writing still sucks it doesn't matter. Netflix should just listen for once and get a new showrunner. The showrunner for the expanse would be fantastic I think cause that show was amazing while sticking to the source material. They just unfortunately got cancelled when they had 3 more books to get through.
i will watch it. if am around when S4 release. Main cast change will definitely affect the show even if the new cast is better than the first and in this case it isn't.
I love the Witcher Netflix, but maybe that's because I never read the books or played the video game. They changed Yennifer's face with no problem, and virtually no one complained. Henry Cavill will be missed, but Liam is a really good actor, and pretty good looking in his own right. I hope it keeps going.

I'm not too deep on the Witcher lore ( I began reading them not long ago and I'm going a snail's pace with them) but by what I've seen the most "logical" way the would go is by the Conjunction of the Spheres and bring a Geralt from another place while making the main Geralt go to the sphere or something. It's been teased that it will happen again soon so there's that. I dunno it's just weird all over the place

Why would they feel the need to come up with some wonky plot twist for it....Just change out the actor. Plenty of movies/shows have had to recast characters. You just do it. At this point, it's like they are purposefully trying to self sabotage their own show. Every decision just becomes more atrocious then the last. Let's make a stupid plot element that brings more attention to the fact that we changed out the man who embodied the character for the Wal-Mart version....

I think you are wrong in one thing, sadly. You said that they don't care about the lore and make up along the way. Wrong. That wouldn't be that bad.
Because you forgot - they planned this. In Season 2, they introduced the idea that Elder Blood is a core element of mutagens that are used to create Witchers, which was not there in the books at all.
Then, in Blood Origin, they "explained" why (long story short, it implied that Ciri is descendant of Fjall, who was the original prototype witcher, so her blood is so special because... she is part-witcher or something?) and now they crawl back out of it (saying that Ciri is not their descendant, which is obvious in Blood Origin ending).
After that, they shown us book of monoliths, again their own poor invention as the monoliths themselves, in Blood Origin, because it is important in Season 3 villain reveal.
So I will take my chance and say they plan all these poor original ideas. They make more plans to introduce poor, anti-lore stuff, than actual story of the books.
Fun fact, watching Blood Origin was my guilty pleasure. It was so bad that I actually had a lot of fun watching it and generally, I think the idea was quite cool, but the execution was so poor that I don't really know how they pulled it off. Hercules/Xena from 80s/90s strong vibe, zero sense lore wise, zero sense costume wise, look cheap and poor. And they made this ONLY to create a cheap background for their own inventions in S02 and S03. That says a lot. Because obviously budget was straight-to-vhs tight or someone took the cash and disappeared without a trace lol
They make a lot of plans for quick connections for their own inventions, they make bad plans for things that are logical, make sense and are lore accurate.
Also I laughed a lot in S03, "twisting hands" scene. Writing is soooo poor.
They are filming S04 and S05 at the same time. My guess is that they know the show won't last til S08, so they speed things up. Would be funny to see Liam quitting as well, I've heard that he read the books in preparations

i have a brilliant idea: geralt will get badly burned on his face and will spent the rest of the show with his whole head covered in bandages and not speaking at all. which wouldn't be long anyway, bcos this show will collapse after half a season anyway.
doctor who has over 50 years of lore tied to the regenerations, it's one of the most vital parts of the canon now and part of the brand (and the regenerations themselves are usually one of the most dramatic and emotional moments in the story), trying to copy this idea is not only nonsense and not fitting, but also dragging even more attention to the change the viewers already hate. better damage control would be just change geralt and pretend like nothing happened, it happens all the time in shows and imo actually helps with the immersion. (i mean, yeah, hard to say anything about the immersion in netflix witcher, but they could at least not make it even harder)

Good review, but who cares at this point. I'm of Polish descent. I've read all the books and played all the games. I was done with the Witcher at the end of season 2. I won't support the show after Netflix let the moronic show runner and writers bastardized the source material so they could to include their woke manure. Whatever those idiots put together will not be Witcher.
Just call the time of death and end this farce already. Netflix's The Witcher had such promise but episode by episode they have killed the audience with a thousand paper cuts. Henry Cavill IS Geralt and no discount Chris Hemsworth will be able to fill the role.
The Witcher Season 3 Review☠️
This wasn't good. As the show has tried to extend its scope and scale it's clear the people making it have a reach that far exceeds their grasp. Everything from pacing, structure, character work, and even the action set pieces feel like rushed first ideas hastily executed and cobbled together to meet a deadline rather than well-honed sequences, scripts, and scenes that have been toiled over and shaped with care and a firm vision for what the show is trying to convey. Plotholes, contrivances, wonky magic systems, empty mysteries, and modern self-aware dialogue are rife, and it feels like a show made out of obligation rather than passion and creative drive. It's such a shame, because while not perfect, the books are excellent, so some of the burden creatively shouldn't be as visible as it is in this show, but this need to do their own thing and sometimes vandalise beloved characters and story beats has only placed more pressure on writers and producers to deliver something they simply aren't capable of. The biggest issue for this season apart from the lack of coherent story telling. Is that they are trying to be something they are not. They are not Game of Thrones, they are not Lord of the rings Rings of Power. S1 opened the world of the Witcher. And by s3, I don't even know what I am watching. There is no focus, just long periods of side stories... boring, CGI is there just to be there. Writing has become lazy. You can see that they don't care about the source material. And you can see they try to add modern values to it... Which makes it even worse.
There is a clear lack of understanding from the show runners to the writers room of what makes for competent storytelling. They had good source material, an amazing cast, and world class crew, yet somehow managed to fall into cliche traps (telling instead of showing, character narrating to rush the storytelling process, poor character development). It's like film school freshman read the book report of a failing middle schooler of the Witcher books, then attempted to make something and put their stamp on it rather than respecting the intelligence of their audience.
season 3 character arcs & characterization of the Witcher is really bad. its a sad waste of time. they turn GERELT into a side character in his own show. his action scene are good but the show barely focuses on him , which really a shame because Gerelt is a captivating character as always. i thought the writers might have concentrated on his character more but as usual the Witcher writers are clueless. they turn Radovid into an annoying LEX LUTHER type of character from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. the writers turn Emhyr var Emreis, Deithwen Addan yn Carn aep Morvudd The White Flame Dancing on the Barrows of his Enemies into an incredibly bland boring character. his dialog is the worst. its completely takes you out of the show. Radovid & Emhyr are two of greatest characters & antagonists in The Witcher franchise , [ books , games & anything else ] , so it's really stinks that these characters suck so bad in the show.
if you know anything about BLOOD ORIGIN , then you know that Eredin Bréacc Glas the King of the Wild Hunt is kind of a weakling & really non-threatening so that a waste of an antagonist / villain so i don't have any hope of The Witcher tv show being a really cringe but entertaining tv show , but The Witcher tv show its just awful , i don't know how the writers of the show made Thanedd Coup so dull. uninteresting. boring. tedious. tiresome. they tried to make this entire season into GAME OF THRONE lite , it barely resembles Thanedd Coup. As for YENNEFER , she failed to apologize in any meaningful & significance way to GERALT or Cirilla for releasing discount baba Yaga , taking CIRI to cintra to be possessed , YENNEFER doesn't show any guilt for the Witchers who died in KAER MORHEN or anything. YENNEFER does try to shallowly & half-heartedly apologize to GERALT for maybe a couple minutes in one episode if you add the total up but it lacks substance & any type of conviction at all. As for YENNEFER apologizing to CIRI for taking advantage of her trust & getting her possessed , they have a one minute conversation about it. I'm honestly not sure because it went by so fast that I can't even say that's what the conversation was about. Then the writers just hand wave the situation & nobody brings it up again period. As for YENNEFER actions in relation to the plot season 3 , it was established in almost the whole franchise that YENNEFER doesn't care for politics [ in the games YENNEFER only cares in relation to saving other people, in the books YENNEFER is not that good at politics & you get the gist that among the mages of the north Philippa Eilhart & Vilgefortz are excellent at politics by comparison to YENNEFER & she only cares in relation to her magic school or saving someone , even in season one of the show's YENNEFER leaves politics behind her early. So because season 3 focuses on a GAME OF THRONE LITE version of Thanedd Coup YENNEFER character really suffered from the bad writing especially after her character assassination characterization of season 2. YENNEFER costumes are terrible in season 3. its laughable. Philippa Eilhart & Dijkstra were underutilized & don't live up to their characters at all. Vilgefortz is decent but he's going to be the most unsurprising surprise villain ever because the writers have been dropping really unsubtle hints since season one. Vilgefortz killing the mage in season 1 & interrogating Tisseia about CIRI in season 2 gave the surprise away.
as for CIRILLA , she's good but she's only half as endearing , charming , engaging & cool as her counterparts in the books & games. I like her a lot & her relationship with GERALT is nice , even if I consider it diminished by all wasted potential opportunities of season 1 & 2. The writers do this really annoying thing with her character where they write themselves into a corner so CIRI will constantly get caught by any & everyone after her , even after GERALT & YENNEFER tell her constantly & repeatedly to be careful & stay safe. It gets irritating after a while. CIRI trains with magic & different ways of fighting for a bit but its so so to me because she gets interrupted repeatedly so I don't think of her as a great fighter. A good one but not outstanding. A problem with her character is that the writers are trying to portray her as a great physical fighter instead of a person who uses agility , flexibility, magic sword menship to kick ass & Freya Allen looks thin & tall , in other words not a strong physical fighter. The other critique I have about CIRI is that in season 3 she's just there , she doesn't really do anything plot wise , CIRI is like the Infinity Stones in Avengers Infinity War an important element of the plot but she's inertia in her actions in the show. Hopefully she does something by the end of season 3.
Let's say these 5 episodes have more books stuff than the previous season, but still not enough to call it an adaptation, they just quote the books while they play their horrendous fun fiction, it's boring, bad though, full of inconsistencies, plot holes, and bad dialogues. I'm not interested in watching more of the Swicher. I wouldn't mind if they actually made improvements on the source material but all the so called improvements were even worse than fanfiction. So I'm not interested in Lauren's terrible writing & directing. Besides people have read the article from the CGI &VFX artists , everyone knows she is not adapting the books for Season 3. Lauren is writing something never before seen in the books & the games. So anything Lauren says about following the books is just more lies. People watching Season 3 of the Swicher will just encourage these Netflix Morons to produce more of this trash. I'm not watching the CIRI & YENNEFER show.
