I'd like to stick one in my 68 F-100.
Hey guys. Cool video. I'm a 1967 Lincoln owner for 10 or 11 years now. Been just keeping the care alive now. Change oil and taking it ez with it. It runs on the highway. 70-80mph Cruz like a dream. Nice job on the motor. Thanks for posting.
Lincoln didn't switch from the 430 to the 462 until 1966.
Lincoln had a 440 and a 462 in continentals from 61 to 74 from what I've seen I've got a friend with a 61 coupe that had the 440 but he built it off a 65 with a 462 parts car and I've seen a 1963 continental sedan hooked to a 3 speed automatic on a 462
Must have been a swap 462’s were built between 66 and early 68
@@OneRuthless72 It was a 430ci motor until 1966 when lincoln switched to the 462
I completely agree with you on this! I never heard or seen a 462 in a Lincoln until 66!
What a monsterous engine 😱, MY 58 EDSEL CITATION has the 410/475 engine, it also has the fuel pump right in front of the distributior like yours, I see you plugged it up. Mines also has the 4 barrel CARB, and it also had the motor mounts up on the very TOP side front edge of the block where it meets the head, next to where the top shock absorbers connect. Wish I had this for my EDSEL. Thanks for sharing this with me.👍
Awesome! Thanks for sharing your story. Cheers my man
did you notice any significant power or mpg increases. I have a 67 conti and have thought about doing the swap.
Very nice video, you have a class operation. Just curious, I've been building engines for nearly 40 years and I'm always interested in aftermarket part failures. Great example, a recent 4.6 Ford developed an oil pan leak and it was the Victor oil pan gasket. I discovered the factory Ford gasket was much more robust, which explains why the original gasket was dry when I originally took the engine apart. Also, with Felpro on the 3.3/3.8 Chrysler oil pan gasket, and after replacing it with factory gasket the leak was solved. I'm curious what you can tell us about the head gasket that failed ? make/brand..etc.. thanks in advance- looking forward to learning something about a MEL engine ... Mark
nice, i need it :D
Looks good. I'm trying to decide if I want to do throttle body or multi-port EFI on a 462 MEL but having a tough time finding information on them.
We only do multi port injection. Putting together a video comparing the two now actually so stay tuned
Hey guys how do you like the Terminator system ? I am really interested in the system , for my 383 sbc ? thanks Jason
I have one of these For my 67, not sure if I want to rebuild it, you can’t just anywhere and find a head gasket lol
Curious if the Ford Duraspark ignition system is compatible with the MEL the way it is with the Windsor, FE and 385 Motors. Blue oval stuff has piqued my interest somewhat of recent, particularly the MEL motor
Same. I'm waiting to come across one for cheap or I can jerk out of an old car.
What's the power on this dinosaur?
Lots of questions...1. What is the standard RPM at idle for the 430 engine? Also, my 4150 Holley is flooding badly even after I clean it out. 2. Could it be the electrical pump pumping too much fuel? I am having trouble with the radiator overheating. I changed the thermostat but it is not helping. 3. Do you have any suggestions? I should say I have been traveling the world for the last 3 years and my car has been sitting all that time. Any advice would be helpful. I have changed the oil, flushed the coolant, and changed the thermostat. except for the ones behind the water pump. 4. Should I take those out? I have cleaned the carburetor twice.
Hey thanks for reaching out. Hope this helps you - 1) about 550 2)Rust in fuel talk. Test fuel pressure, no more then 5 psi. overheating: air in the cooling system or 10 other things, 3)take it to a shop. 4 ) should have only one thermostat.
@@prestigemotorsports I will remove the other thermostats behind the water pump. I ordered a new water piump. I heard those thermostats can cause problems. I have a clear fuel filter now and I can see the fuel. The carb is still flooding after cleaning. I will try a new needle and seats. I have a new carb(Edelbrock 1906) but the correct spacer has not arrived for it yet. I also plan to check the timing, points and get new spark plugs. The problem with shops here is they all say they will get right to it and then they have your car sitting for months for people to gawk at. I don't have time for that. If you have a video on timing using the timing light please let me know.
Is 462 fit okay in 1966 Lincoln instead of 396 motor?
yes. Forget about 396, it goes in chevy.
The 462 fit fine. The motor started as the 430, bored & stroked to gather 462. 430/462 was factory for 1961-1967. The 460 came on in 1968. 460 was a completely different motor from 462 though.
If that's the original MEL engine, it's a 430...
Nic Sanford Belgard its a 462 swap
Valve covers have dents in them
